My choice but not my wife's!
Raymond Fentress, 10/11/2016
2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
Great vehicle but my wife wants a larger upscale sedan! Still searching for the one that pleases her! She drives no more than 2,000 per year, and I drive 20,000 to 25,000 a year. She even has the nerve of picking the colors. See what 51 years of marriage can do for you!
Don't buy this car

2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
Worst experience with a new car I've ever had. I got a new car for reliability. So far I can't let it sit for the weekend w out it dying. Had the car since new. Subaru never figured out the battery drain issues.
It consistently needs to be Jumpstart on Mondays even when I've put in a new battery. Actively planning for it to be dead on a Monday morning is the most irrating thing. …
Avoid this car till subaru owns up to their battery drain issues. I am really disappointed and probably will be trading this car as the reliability thing just isn't there because of the battery problem.
Another great Subaru

2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
Opted for the Touring model, love the saddle brown interior color, exceptional comfort and easy to drive. As a handicapped person, very easy to get in and out of. Great cargo capacity and easy to load and unload.
Why is this car so popular?

2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
I got talked into this by my husband because it does well in the snow (which happens twice a year here.) However in the ways that count, this is a poor value. The road noise is so bad, one can’t hear the radio and the visors are not set to a position to block bright sunlight (blinding if you’re heading west.) The acceleration is like the old Beetle, albeit automatic, it is loud, slow … and dangerous enough that freeway entrances are terrifying. The navigation system is unlearnable and incredibly frustrating while the phone operation is unreliable and not available when ignition is on. But the biggest design flaw involves the rear hatchback, which literally operates on its own. It never opens all the way up and has almost killed both my spouse and me by closing in mid lift! The battery has died several times requiring our AAA friends. The back seat is very awkward to enter and exit and the drivers seat controls do little more than go back and forth with little lumbar or positional support.
Edmunds Summary Review of the 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring SUV

Which Outback does Edmunds recommend?
If you simply need a big wagon that can get down and dirty for not a lot of money, it's hard to beat a 2.5i Premium. Nicely equipped with heated front seats and a good mix of tech, it's a great choice that dispenses with fuss and frills.

Driving
3.0The four-cylinder is slow to accelerate, and handling performance isn't fantastic. The Outback is much more adept when it comes to handling bumpy back roads or snowy highways.
Comfort
4.5We were suitably impressed by the Outback's seats, both front and rear, which provide all-day comfort. The soft suspension delivers a smooth ride quality, but there's more road and wind noise than we'd like.
Interior
4.5Subaru did a nice job updating the Outback's interior controls from the last generation. Beyond that, all the previous Outback goodness remains: plenty of passenger and cargo room and terrific outward visibility.
Utility
With its easily accessible cargo area, spacious rear seats and low roofline, the Outback offers excellent all-around utility.
Technology
The Outback is graced with a modern and reasonably user-friendly touchscreen interface, available in either 6.2- or 7-inch sizes. Some functions require unnecessary dexterity, but it's one of the easier systems to use. Also packed with abundance of features and smartphone-connectivity apps.
