Used 1994 Subaru Legacy Consumer Reviews
My Turbo
The 94 legacy turbo was/is my first car. i bought it 5 years ago and the only repairs have been routine replacements of timing belt, brakes, and struts. the engine is so sweet for a ten year old car. Yes it may sip more gas but 20 mpg is not bad in the USA. Parts are a little more expensive than for the regular engine, but this is an incredibly reliable car. it conquers pennsylvania snow rain and mountains every year. When this car dies (in 2015?) I will of course replace it with another delicious 5 year old Subaru.
Solid, Dependable, Great in Snow
This car has been very good to me. Will be hard to give it up. Solid, dependable. Has got me through some rough winters and sand in the summers. Not high luxury but comfortable, practical. Great value.
Great car
I've had my 93 AWD wagon for a few years, I've put 45K mile son it. I had not one problem with it until recently the ECU and Ignitor went out. The car died suddenly. The replacement cost was $1900. Over than that expensive problem, the car has been perfectly reliable, safe and a nice care to own.
Tough overall, some weak points
Got it used from a friend back in 2000 with 78K miles, now has 152 k on it. Great engine, no problem tranny, fantastic ignition, never failed to start in coldest Chicago and Boston winters, nor does it fail in the hot humid Miami summers. Drive 500 miles a week, including nonstop 160 mile trips. Nice smooth ride. Okay, problems - ABS unit cracked back in 2002. Slow leak of brake fluid requires refilling either every week or once a month. CV joints chronic. Other stuff maintenance based.
Subaru
No problems with the car for the first 100,000 miles except having to replace rear shocks and have the front struts replaced. AC is starting to fade, but car still looks and rides well.
