Snow? What Snow?

I bought my 2003 Outback Sport Manual just as the weather changed from dry rainless weeks to rainy days and slick roads here in the east. It gives a great feeling of the road and handles better in inclimate weather than the 1996 Nissan 200SX SE-R that I previously owned. The first snow of the year I saw more Subaru owners on the road than SUV owners. Yeah Subaru!! Fun to drive in all kinds of weather. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

Basically the most fun car I have had a chance to drive. The handling is unbelivable. The turbo boost combined with excellent handling, speed, road grip, and flat out excelleration ( in 2-5th gear) is one hell of a ride. The body design is low key and boring but true auto enthusists know what its all about when they see one. Who else is there to immpress? The sports wagon design is very functional though and I wouldnt trade it for a sedan or racier.

This car flat out flies. There is not another car on the market that produces this much fun for the price. Step up to a Mustang GT and teach him a lesson. Some say the EVO destroys this car but I bought my 2003 WRX for $23,700 out the door. I'd like to see you buy an EVO for under $30,000. This can be sensible if you want but can crush most other cars when want also.

Truly an amazing car. Handles like a dream in snow, ice and rain. Turns heads like nobody's business. A great, reliable, quick, funtional car. You can take this to the track and then on a roadtrip and not have to change a thing. Trunk is huge. I've actually fit 3 people in the back for a 3-hour trip.

I bought this car thinking "this is it!". I admit it is a fun and fast car. But I've found it had a lot of little problems. The steering isn't always there to help you with agressive turns, shifting can be missed when pushed a bit more agressively and it is already showing signs of wear... which makes me wander how reliable it will be as years pile up. My friend bought and Evolution, I recently got a chance to drive it... and inmediately I realized my mistake. The Evo is much more refined in all aspects and has a better steering feel. I think my WRX is a great car, but I think the EVO will always be more refined... even when the 290Hp STi comes out.

I really enjoy driving this car. I do find the clutch to be a little stiff, and the turning radius is not what it should be on a car that size. Also, it gets terrible gas milage. However, I am very happy.

this car will get the most bang for the buck.at the price of $25000 you will not find any other car out there that can come close.0-60 mph 5.6 secs and you can drive it in snow when most sports cars can not move an inch.thanks to the all wheel drive rain, snow, gravel and mud are no problem.once you hit 3000rpm get ready to be pushed back in your seat and watch the speedometer climb fast. to sum this car up go get one and you will not be dissapointed!

This car is the most fun of any car that I've owned. Every car I have ever owned has utilized forced induction but this one is by far the most entertaining. I went with the wagon because my wife was having our first kid and I wanted the utility. I must say though, the trunk isn't THAT big. I can fit more stuff into my '97 Honda Civic. Also, rear leg room is meager and is only recommended for short trips. If you're really looking for a long trip family car go with an SUV or Minivan.

I traded my 2000 Honda Civic EX in for this car and have NEVER regret it! I spent a year in England and remembered watching Rally races on TV. This car is without a doubt the best I've owned so far. It's got sexy styling and after installing the short throw shifter, the changing of gears is a dream. My wife who does not care for manual transmissions even longs to drive my car! If you have one and have not tried it on a dirt road, DO SO! Other than that, it is a Mustand and Camaro killer. And I do not care what any EVO fan has to say, the rally races are still won by the Subie 90% of the time!

my wife wanted for me to get the 350Z, but I can think of many other ways to spend $8-12k to get the same performance. Granted the bug eye looks aren't that great and the new EVO is supposed to be overall a great performer, but this Subaru has great reliability and status. It's amazing fun to drive (2 speeding tickets in the first 6 months). Worth every penny!

This has got to be one of the most underrated cars out there, It's practicality is useful for almost situation a driver wants(except racing) unless turbo'd. It was my best friend in 20cm of snow and its AWD never let me down.

Trixie has gotten me through 2 bad breakups and many famous NY winters, and I'm still in love. I picked her up on 11/18/78 (happy birthday to me) and have never regretted it. The fuel economy is great, 29hwy with a K&N filter. The turbo lag is perfect for tame suburban driving, then you can let the ponies run on the country roads. Like all, I wish it was a little more posh, but it is what is, a Rally Car's little Bro. Speaking of rallying, the car handles wonderfully on dirt and washboard roads. All in all, a wonderful car and a terrific buy for under $25K. 0-60 in sub 6, and almost 30mpg hwy. What else do you want?!

Well what to say: amazing grip, incredible launch, hard to break the tires loose. Nice styling especially for my wagon model. Completely changed my idea of Subaru as a family car. Looking forward to hitting the mountains in the AWD! Actually having space for humans and skis/snowboards, boots and garb. Easy access to storage. Nice engine design. Aggressive styling. Fogs light up the road like spots! Handling to the point of having to lay off due to fear rather than loss of traction. Nice headroom in back seats. Nice stereo for a stock system. Overall a great buy!

I totaled my '99, but it saved my life. I had reservations about another one because it was VERY noisy, the shift linkage was awful and the clutch worked best parked. There were a lot of ignition problems, and the rear brakes were drums. But having two dogs, always had manual transmission, and not wanting to be sitting high off of the ground left me few choices. I ended up with a 2003 with 18,500 miles on it for $13,800. I love it! Subaru addressed every issue but the rear brakes (sigh). It is quiet, no hood scoop, more power, and the best shift linkage I have driven yet. It feels like a Legacy.

Subaru can't fix it?

I want to believe the car is well built and reliable, but sometimes it doesn't start, it just turns over and shakes the entire vehicle - then it starts. Subaru can't duplicate it, can't fix it, so I don't know what to think about them now. I've got 13,000 miles on it already.
