I Love This Car
The best performing car I've ever driven. Great fun around town, or on the expressway. It's a little cramped inside (I'm 6'3"), and seriously needs a 6 speed trans, but other than that, I LOVE THIS CAR!
it kicks
I've had it for about a month and a half now and still not used to it's power. Once the turbo kicks, you'll be glad the seat back is nice and comfortable. And the bucket seats are needed through insane turns. only had a couple problems. There was a national shortage, so it took several weeks to recieve a spoiler. also i got the lojack/alarm combo option and had problems with alarm from day one. in cold weather didn't want to activate or deative. Dealer didn't want anything to do with repair. Took 2 visits from lojack to finally get it fixed. supposidly the lojack alarm was the same as subaru's, so beware. otherwise the car is perfect.

Best Car.....Ever.
I traded my 99' Ford Explorer for this car, b/c after having 22 problems in 2 years w/ my Ford, I was ready for something reliable (Problem #22 was a new transmission). I have had absolutely no problems w/ this car. As long as nothing catastrophic happens, I may never buy anything but a Subaru again. Bang for the buck, you cannot beat this car. It is a blast to drive. My only complaint is the excessive wind noise over 100 mph....but, I, uh, don't know how to explain this to my dealer.
Solid Car
Subarus are tough, easy to work on, and fun to drive. Not the biggest car inside, but for a single commuter or a small family it is fine. The AWD is great when it is needed, but otherwise sucks up a bit of power. The car is a perfect blend of utility and performance, and is a great value.
A Blast to drive
In a little over 2 years I've put 45,500 trouble free miles on my WRX. I average about 25 MPG in 60/40 hwy/city driving and with a little effort, I can get 27 MPG. Not bad. My WRX has been on several 2000+ mile trips and was very comfortable. The interior could be a bit nicer, the transmission a little smoother and the exterior takes a little getting used to (I love it though!). The car is so much fun to drive, I can't wait to get into it each day. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to part with it I enjoy it so much. The AWD inspires great confidence in the snowy Midwest winters and other slick conditions.
WRX Gets my Vote
This car has been amazing over the last two years. It is fun to drive yet inexpensive and comfortable. I could not recommend a better car for its price range and even above its price range. You can truly open it up and let it fly.
fast grocery hauler (and dogs, firewood,
At initial purchase this was the most bang for the buck in my price class. Although the styling might be taken as dowdy by some, this car is the swiss army knife of vehicles. I commute 110 miles each day(80 highway, 30 dirt) and I find the car very comfortable. Gas mileage could be better. The motor and AWD are the big reasons to have this car. I've put 25,000 miles on this car in less than 4 months and it shows no signs of slowing down. The car will see action in both auto-x and rally-x this summer. The most amazing thing is that with an experienced driver at the helm I have never seen a faster car down a dirt road..."UNCLE!"
Little Cash, Lot's of Car
The most practical, fun and fast car you can buy for under $25,000! A true all-season, all-condition fast and fun car. With performance tires it can handle with the best and with snow tires winters are a breeze. Not perfect, but you get more than you should for the money.
bang for the buck!!!
this car will get the most bang for the buck.at the price of $25000 you will not find any other car out there that can come close.0-60 mph 5.6 secs and you can drive it in snow when most sports cars can not move an inch.thanks to the all wheel drive rain, snow, gravel and mud are no problem.once you hit 3000rpm get ready to be pushed back in your seat and watch the speedometer climb fast. to sum this car up go get one and you will not be dissapointed!
If loving my new WRX is wrong....
... I don't wanna be right! This is a wonderful car! It's fast, quick, handles well, carries kids & cargo, loves the freeway & the winding backroad, & it looks good sitting still, too! It combines many of the assets of my 2 previous cars, a '99 Saturn SL2 & a Mustang GT. It's the best of both worlds! It's a very tight, well-built machine, very comfortable, & did I mention that it was F-A-S-T ??
Fun driving machine...
From just looking at the car, you would not believe how fun it will be behind the wheel of this vehicle. The power you get from the turbo-charge engine will make you feel like a kid again, while the AWD system give you confident and comfort. What makes me more confident about the WRX wagon is that the car is 100% made in Japan and no matter whether the road is wet or sandy,I always have conditent in every corners.
Super Car
I think this is the best car you could buy.
The MOST fun I've had in years
I have owned this fun, and enjoyable vehicle (my first Subaru) for seven months now. The AWD & Turbo is more fun than my previously owned 1966, 912 Porsche 5 speed, and my Saab 99E (front drive). High altitude driving from Sacramento to Reno is astonishing In the rain: I can not think of another car sold in the USA that can keep up with it through a given course- that does not sell for $10,000 more. I honestly believe that Subaru must subsidize the WRX sales for WRC rules. Like GOOD wine, if you do not understand it or appreciate it- don't buy it. Those that do will SMILE- I DO! Everyday that I drive.
Bang for your buck wagon
This Subaru is fun to drive and has enough power to make driving to Mammoth from LA 3 times a year enjoyable. I'm never going to buy a non AWD vehicle again. Besides being an excellent ride for ski trips the AWD comes in real handy in wet conditions.
It's All About Driving!
This car is just plain fun to drive! Jumps off the line with great acceleration once you get the engine (RPMs) spooled up. In the turns the car is balanced and rock solid with minimal body roll. Have driven in the rain and have yet to break the grip loose. Would recommend getting the short throw shifter for more precise shifting. I am averaging 21 (mpg) because it is hard to stay off the pedal in this car.
Fun!!!!!!!!!
I have driven the car three times. It was a fun experience as expected. Exxxxtremmmmmmeeeee power for a car in it class pluss all upgrades possible. The price is a little bit out thinking in what you can get three or four more grands.
Mixed Thoughts
I like the car alot but I guess I expected more refinement. The transmission at time sounds clunky but the handling and surge of power when the turbo kicks in makes me forget the shortcomings I find. Overall I would probably do it again but from a 4 cylinder, 23 miles a gallon is the best you are going to get
Pure enjoyment
Enjoy the vehical very much love the cornering and super acceleration. this is my first car with stick so i am not that great at it but it is comming quickly i dont think it is all that bad shifting, no rain yet but it will be comming and it will be no problem i am sure. i find interior setup pretty good. sound is not as bad as some say ti is. gotta love the all wheel drive
Hold on to your Nickers
The car is great. You can't get a better buy for under 30. Don't buy this car looking to modify, unless you take your time, because the parts are hard to come by. It's fun to drive, but to tell you the truth, i have no idea on how reliable it is. The WRX has only been around for a few years... But you should replace your car every 5 years anyways :P
street king
it's a great feeling to have knowing that you have the quickest and fast ride at any intersection almost all the time (except for those expensive 350hp plus sports cars, and coupes). looks aren't that bad and is unique, interior not that cheap and is functional, performance/handling/acceleration is outstanding, seats are comfortable. acceleration is quick after 3000pms, so it needs a good reving up. i've had my WRX for 3 weeks and i've been taking cats out
All Speed, Junk parts
This car is very fun to drive, but buyer beware. My car is not even a year old but it's been to service more times than my older car. I've had problems with the cheap paint (easily stains), the engine light turning on and fluid leaks.
Love the performance, hate the repairs
The winding, mountainous roads around me are a kick in my WRX, with power, pickup and handling. (Even Porsche and BMW driving friends LOVE driving it!) But gravel and rutted roads are tough on the tires (on my 2nd set), brakes (going in for its 2nd brake job at 27,000 mi.) and alignment (can't seem to hold it.) Could use a little more ground clearance. Doubt I'd buy it again because of the brake and tire problems.
Rally Screamer
A wonderful little car, able to lay dust to anything on the road. In stock form, it's a fantastic ride. Great handling, power, and room for my dogs. The cool factor is even higher than you would expect froma Subaru. Three weeks, and I've gotten multiple complements. Car can easily be modified safely to put out 300hp. Many supporting websites and tuners across the nation.
You must have
I am a pastor and I believe this car to be Pure Fun! I still can't believe I own such a great, fast, fun, dependable car. You need to get it. It beats all other cars on the road. My congregation members can't believe their pastor drives this car. They love it.
WRX
Four doors, all-wheel drive, anti-lock brakes, side impact air bags, 227 hp, good fuel economy, cool styling....for around $25,000. Why would anyone buy anything else?
PERFECT
Best car ever for the price. Handles like god, accelerates great, just perfect. the interior is great with the 6 cd changer. get this car
honest review
great car! really the only choice for an AWD wagon under $25K -- which makes the 227hp/turbo almost a freebie... FYI mainj, the horn-alarm can be easily turned off -- read your brouchure or call your dealer
2003 Wrx
This car has been very fun to drive. The cost is reasonable, for performance, though i feel that some of the options leave much to be desired. Couldn't ask for better performance in the rough michigan winters.
world rally xperiment
this car is awesome, i can feel like 90% cars around is SLOW. can beat any car stock! and don't forget about the beauty of AWD. great at cornering, bad weather and SNOW! it's a fun car to drive. don't say you don't like it until you drive it. dare to try to turbo? and by the way, there is a morron saying that WRX eats too gasoline for such a small engine, and i would say .... "duhhh!!!! this is a turbocharged engine you dumb dumb."
Believe the reviews
The WRX performs like a sedan that should cost a lot more. It's fun to drive but takes a little work and planning ahead to keep the RPMs primed for maximum acceleration. Steering and breaking are solid in most cases. It took me 2 weeks to get used to the manual shifter. The look of the car isn't too bad, it's kinda different yet sophisiticated. I get a lot of different looks when driving my WRX: smiles, waves, curiosity, and people that want to race!
Fun to drive and good sporty design....
I had never thought about getting a WRX, but after test driving my friend's I couldn't resist. I didn't know I would love this car so much until I own it. This car has got a decent amount of horsepowers, great performance, sporty interior and exterior design, 6 CD changer and it comes with so many other standard manufacture options that so many new cars out there call optional.
Little Red Wagon of Fun
I did some pulls to seat the rings when I first got the car and now I'm babing the engine until the recommended 1000. Seating the rings was a teaser of the potential of this peppy little wagon. The misses jumped on me because I surpassed the 4k max rpm for breakend when I had to pull out in heavy traffic Even at 3/4 throttle the car and rpm's jump when you reach 3k rpm. Unfortunatly I see that you really need to either slip the clutch or drop the clutch if you really want a fast takeoff. But in turn it's a nice little car to putt around at gas saving speeds. There is enough power at low rpm's for everyday around town driving.
Subaru WRX wagon...
It rocks! This car is FUN to drive! And, being a wagon, it'll not only haull ass, it'll haul stuff!
WRX best
This is the best car I have owned Bar none. Fast and agile in traffic and fun to drive
Still can't find a better car!
Now that the STI is on the horizon, I am only slightly tempted. The stock WRX delivers more than adequate performance. In 14K miles, I've had no problems and my only critiques are slight quibbles about lack of outside thermometer, lack of heated seats, leather upholstery, and other things that really are secondary. For the money, the quality and performance of the WRX are unmatched, especially for those of us who do alot of winter driving.
the best in class
Driving a WRX Wagon makes all the difference in a commuter town like Houston. The power of its turbo engine and 227hp affords more agility, ability to negotiate between vehicles in traffic, and a certain level of safety that one cannot attain in a traditional off-road vehicle like an SUV. Because of its low center of gravity and full time AWD feature, the WRX Impreza has married the ideas of performance and safety to the test! The adventures await! Be sure to invest in an under-carriage protector! $80 bucks can save a bucket- load...
suburu wrx wagon
this car runs great & steers realy good under cornering, has lots of power & looks good to. my wife chose this car for her & she is happy with it. it;s a little small for me but i injoy driveing it also, we realy wanted the all wheel drive system so we can go when the weather is bad. over all we like the car & have had no prolbems with it as of now.
BEST OF THE BEST
I didn't want to buy this car, it was my husband's idea. But now. . . I LOVE THIS CAR! My husband is a new car addict so I can honestly say that I've owned or at least driven most cars all years and models, but no other car seems to compare. The speed, handling, fuel economy, snow driving, look, comfort. I just cant compare it to any other vehicle out there. This car is my number one!
some flaws, but great
I had been drooling over a WRX since seeing them in WRC and British car mags like CAR or EVO, and was highly anticipating their advent into the US market. I've had one for 6 months and 8000 miles now. The engine is lethargic up to 3000 rpms, but then pushes the power to the wheels from that point up. Driving part-throttle is fine above 2500 rpms, but there's still that lag. Love the car in town, but find it a bit twitchy at highway speeds of 70 and up. Body is solid, with some body roll, but not bad. MPG Is not what it could be--I average about 22 in town, but 29 highway. Power can be helped with muffler or aftermarket items.
Subaru's rock
This car rocks -- I love it.
WRX like a charm
Purchased this car 10/30/01 and I'm approaching 14K miles. Impressive 0-60 power; it will smoke stock Mustang GT's off the line. Huge public appeal; I even got a thumbs-up from a Harley- Davidson biker (complete with 2 ft. beard). Fun to drive on all-surfaces. Complaints: The shifter and the interior plastic (a few rattles have emerged) could be a little tighter. I have the stock premium sound system including the under-the-seat sub and it longs for more power. Also the volume selector is coarse, there are huge differences between some increments. Overall, only minor gripes - I would recommend this car over and over again!
2003 WRX Wagon
This car is the best overall vehicle for most people. Forget about gas guzzling SUV's, this all wheel drive WRX kicks their a$$ in every way. One mont all and NO regrets...
1 year and still lovin it
nothing bad to say
Incredible
Ever since I was 14 I wanted this car. When I finally got in one I couldn't believe my luck. The handling was excellent, and the speed was incredible. I didn't know something could be that fast (stock) for under 25k.
Wonderful
This is my first stick car and it's been an awesome experience. :O) You'll get a lot of looks if you're a girl driving one too! >:O)
this car rocks
today is 10-06-02 and i got the car on the 3rd ( thursday )and i have already but 300 miles on it i cant be in it enough its so fun to drive i have the 5 speed edition and i am having so much fun in it you done need to speed or be crazy to have fun in it how great is that...!
Why didn't I buy one sooner?
This is the car to have, at least untill the STI comes out this summer. I have never had as much fun driving a car. I never want anything to happen to this car or I will be a very sad boy. If you have the loot, buy one now!!
Nice Ride
I traded in my beloved firebird for the WRX after a scary snow incident. The WRX has made the transition easy. The turbo gets things going quickly, the AWD handling is incredible. Its a sporty, reliable car. One you can take to the track for fun, or pack in some friends for a long road trip and still be comfortable. Very happy I purchased the WRX
the best 4 cyl car out there
The best handle in the business of automotive in the world
Another VW Convert
Owning a VW for the past 20 years, I was skeptical about the switch. Now I know what Subie owners have been keeping for themselves all these years. All the auto publications were not exaggerating what a value this car is compared to all else that is on the road. I just dig how well it performs in all conditions. Took it for a real test in the canyons above L.A. in the Angeles Crest National Forest area with lots of immediate twisties and it was impossible to keep the smile off my face. Nothing can touch this car for under 25K.
