Basically 2 big problems: 1. Hwy mileage is no where near advertised, even when using cruise control. 2. Radio only works when not moving BY DESIGN

This is my partner's car and they are enjoying it VERY much. However, I'm glad I'm not the one driving it, because of the stupid seat belt chime - see below.....

Turns on a dime and so dependable! Love the Touring features my basic 2012 Subaru Forester didn't have and had less miles than my previous 2012 Forest.

Falling out of love with this car...

I upgraded from an 06 Forester to a 2012 Forester, and after 3 years I wish I had put in the money to fix and keep my bulletproof 06. The 2012 was good for the first year, but slowly the repairs have added up. Nothing detrimental, but multiple shop visits a year costing thousands over the last 3 years. Even with regular maintenance, I am constantly paranoid it's going to give me the middle finger at a really inconvenient time. Leaking and burning oil from weird places, loud exhaust, laggy (sometimes even stuttery) transmission, even after a tune-up. It's clear this model was designed to look more modern, not optimize performance. The taller, narrower body makes for more clumsy traction maneuvering in snow/mud season here in Vermont and the struggling engine is audible enough to stop conversation and raise eyebrows on hills. I think I'm at 19mpg combined, vs the advertised 23mpg. It's not a bad car, but it's not a great car either. I fell for the fancy bells & whistles but found this car simply looks better than it feels. I'm sad to say it turned me off to buying any newer Subarus and am seriously considering switching brands.
