Great Truck!
I puchased my 2004 Nissan Titan with less than 50 miles on it and I currenly have over 120K. There has been 2 recalls (brake shudder and wiring harness) and both were done quickly and efficiently. I have read where people wanted better gas mileage but you don't buy a heavy truck with a powerful 5.6L V8 engine and then complain about the mileage. I have towed 10K, loaded the bed to the point where it couldn't take anymore and everything worked as expected. I have replaced the rear axle seals and bearing with better than factory. Used only synthetic oils since 2nd change. It just keeps running. Never a hiccup or an issue. Been a great truck and I plan to keep it until it dies!
2004 Titan
I use this truck to Tow almost daily (about 4-5000lb trailer). Great tow vehicle. Mileage is about 10 towing. About 12 around town. I once got about 14-15 on the interstate and was thrilled! This thing eats brakes. Fronts every 25k, rears every 40k. Trim pieces are cheap, but the engine/trans has benn reliable. I would buy it again. (I would get 4wd though)

Great Truck.
I bought this used in November 14 for a decent deal. It only had 84K on it. It now has 88k and I feel confident all of the "First Gen" issues have been worked out (headers, rear axle vent fix, recalls, ect) Given the age I will need to change out some front bushing and shocks but other than that, it has been GREAT to have in the snowiest winter I've ever seen here in N.E. Wash it on dry days will keep it most of the rust at bay. Gas mileage is as expected for a 4x4, 12 city, 14-16 HWY.
Nissan made a Monster
I have owned many trucks and the Titan is the best thing going. The 08 Tundra and 04 and up F150 have a better towing weight but that's where it ends. The titan has a roomier back seat then the F150 and Crewmax, (Chevy is even close). I have the Deep Ocean Blue and get comments on the color continously. There were some recalls on the brakes and seatbelts on the back seat but fully covered by the dealorship so no big deal. The interior is basic, lots of plastic, but I have found an aftermarket dash kit that brings it up to date. I can not rave about the power this truck has to offer and the Dana 450 rear end is awsome. (replace the steel cover on the diffential) Nissan has created a monster
high miler still a great truck
cant say i suggest anything to prospective buyers I have 245,000 miles on my truck here is what i have done in that time, rear axle seals, radiator, driver power window motor, starter, I do my own maintenance all fluids changed with synthetic type trans service every 30k miles coolant flushed every 2 years a little hard on brakes but i do tow a lot it has no oil leaks and burns no oil still performs as new solid value get one with proper maintenance and you cant go wrong

Reliable truck
I really feel I made a great choice in a truck looking back over the fifteen years/240,000 miles I've owned it. Only had issues with tire rotors which was common on the 2004 model and corrected under warranty, an axel seal leak, and a starter after 200k.

Lights out
Have been pretty pleased with this truck. Dealer fixed brake problems early on. One thing though is that many times at night when I turn on the right hand turn signal the lights go off. This has scared the crap out of me as driving at high speeds at night and the lights go out when I turn on the right hand signal and a few times when I go from dims to bright. Anyone else experience this? Always in a panic to turn them back on.
Perfect Truck For The Road Or For Towing
Haven't had this truck long but it's great on 300 hp performance with 370ft/lb torque. 32valve 8 cyl. 5 speed auto. 5.6L SE model. I've Towed 6,500lbs and had no issue in power loss. Would have probably maxed it at 9,000 lbs. The only issue is if you don't have 4x4 don't expect to get the best out of this truck. Great truck for casual driving, long rides, work truck, or hauling your RV. Gets the job done right!

Problems with Vehicle
Bedliner bubbles, Water intrusion on passenger side interior after it rains which has caused entire interior MOLD issues, seats, carpet and more. Rain also causes doors to pour out water when opened. Rusting has appeared on front passenger tire as well as metal parts in the interior of the vehicle. Attempts to fix this have been unsuccessful.
13 going on 14 years and counting...
At the time of this review, my truck is almost 14 years old, and I've been the proud owner for about 7 of those years (second owner). With 97,XXX and counting, I see a long future ahead for this one. I plan to hold onto this truck for many years to come.... I purchased the truck with about 38,000 miles, and have not had any major issues to speak of. Other than regular maintenance (fluid changes, tune-up, belts, tires, batteries, etc...), and some minor upgrades (heavy duty shocks, CIA, exhaust, etc...) this truck never see's the shop. It's extremely responsive, has plenty of torque, and makes a great tow vehicle. That said, it's not the most comfortable truck I've owned, nor is the most agile. Still it's a great truck and is probably the best vehicle purchase I've ever made (and I've owned a lot of vehicles), given the price I've paid, and the years of service I expect to get from it.

New Used Truck
Just purchased '04 Crew Cab 4WD SE with 66K miles. The soft brakes and drive shaft/u-joint issues decried by some '04 drivers were a bonus for me: Easily corrected(!), WHILE driving the resale value down among mechanically un-savvy drivers--BONUS! I've always been a fan of Ford and GM trucks, and have owned more JEEPs than most drivers. But in selecting a work truck, the superior fit-n-finish, interior quality, and ergonomics of the Titan, and the above-mentioned bargain pricing, forced me away from the Big 3 offerings I intended to purchase. Time will tell if I remain happy. I will report after 30K miles are added to the odo. For now, I've twice the truck for 1/2 the dollars.
Super Big Truck
The workmanship and quality of my 2004 Titan pickup is superb. It is by far the best truck that I have owned. I have owned 20 trucks so far in my life and I am 73 years old. I drive it up the mountain to our cabin every week end and it performs very well up and down. My mileage is nearly 16 miles per gallon in the city. That is using the air and regular gas. The performance on the Hiway is excellent and get nearly 23 mpg, traveling 70-75 mph using the AC. It has a very comfortable ride, even on long trips. Plenty of storage room for luggage and supplies when we go up to our cabin in the mtns. (7000 feet) Good performance in the cool weather, even when there is snow on the road.
Titan
I've owned several other 1/2 ton pickups in the past and nothing can compare to the power. I tow a 25' camper trailer with ease and the automatic shifting is awesome to use while towing. I have almost 36,000 miles on it and have had issues with the front end, cv joints, brakes, front bearings which the dealership has not been able to find the problem yet. When turning it grinds metal on metal, they've replaced the hubs, but the problem is still there. They had a recall on the brakes too when I first got it, They ended up putting bigger rotors and pads on the front end. The old were to small and they would worp every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. Haven't had issues with the brakes since.
Great truck
My family and I love our Titan no problems
Best Truck made in America
144K and running like a champ. Great at towing, super comfort, kids like the entertainment system, plenty of power.
2004 Nissan Titan
This truck has been awesome to own. The only complaint I have is the horrible fuel economy, but I didn't buy this truck to save gas. Power is awesome. Very agile truck for it's size.
Great truck
I have had my titan for five years. I have 163k miles and it still runs like the day i bought. Could not ask for a better truck
Used Dissapoinment
All the hype about Nissan's maintaining their value must be a joke. I bought an 04 Titan used with 9000 miles and within the first month have had it in the shop for four different problems. Windshield wiper fluid reservoir leaked, power windows stopped working, cupholders broke, passenger side rear door wouldn't open, a total mess within the first month of ownership. And it also doesn't help when the dealer doesn't care and will get to it when they can. Other than that, I like the truck, it looks good and rides great. Just a few things going wrong ruins the experience, especially stuff that shouldn't break on a truck with 9,000 miles
Tough Truck
Researched full sized trucks and chose Titan in 2004, after driving the others. Never regretted it, now has 80,000 miles on it without a complaint. Factory replaced original rotors after first ones warped early on, and no further problems and couple minor recall items fixed. Strong truck with torque-monster motor, have pulled big trailers, loaded it up even beyond it's capacity and no complaints from it. Huge interior, now wife drives it regularly, with two big dogs in pack seat. Sad to hear that Nissan will discontinue it soon, would replace it with another one if they are still around, but it's indestructible for now.
The Beast
This truck has all the attributes I was looking for. It handles great, has great off the line acceleration. It has turn heads good looks, the drive train is very smooth for a truck. The interior is laid out very well, theres lots of room for 5 people. The gas milage is a little low to what I was expecting. The Brakes aren't up to par to stop this big truck. This truck needs beefier brakes esspecially if your going to tow something.
Titan really rolls
great truck, runs great loads of torque, gobs of power.. surprisingly thrifty on fuel
Feature rich compare to Ford F150
Very enjoyable truck! It has power baby! POWER! I have been reviewing this truck for 5 months before buying it. I was planning to wait until December, but could not wait any longer, I wanted it. I'm a long time vehicle holder, I'm expecting this truck to last without many break downs. Get a knowledge salesman and take the Ford 150 over and compare the difference. I believe edmunds.com know what their talking about when they selected this truck. (some body there did there homework!) Bottom line, it's a BIG TRUCK for a Nissan company. I'm proud to own it!
My Speed Machine
The titan by far is superior in size, power and room when you campare it to similar trucks and sport cars. I love everthing about the vehicle but I had to get use to using roll up windows and making sure the doors are locked (XE's do not come with power windows and door locks and I did not want to get carried away with options). The best part about this vehicle is its power and some people think the vehicle is so expensive from the looks. I was able to upgrade from my 99 Sentra to this beast for $48 dollars more a month ($328 over invoice and 2% financing helps alot). But with gas so dang high I can not travel freely without thinking about that low MPG.
My Titan
I got the cheap Titan, but it is by far fancier than other makes, for a basic. The looks are great and the room is just as great. The only thing that I wish was better was the gas mpg, but I have to remember, it is a titan. Thank goodness cruise control is standard equipment, because this truck really hauls.
I call it the Hemi killer
I've Been driving for about eight years now. Is always a pleasure to drive you set up high you have all the power you need I have got a brush guard on the front of man. I have no trouble getting slow traffic to move out of the way on the interstate. Gas mileage could be better but considering the way I drive it it’s OK. i got hit in the back bumper glad i was in a full size truck it did not hurt me. I just wish Nissan had done a better job painting the roof of the cab. Update still getting the job done 177000 miles .still going doing good starting to show its age its 19 now.187000 update still fun to drive 2022.

2004
This truck is powerful and fun to drive. Not good on gas but when you need the power, it is just a pedal push away. I like how spacious the cab is.
Excellent Truck
I drove Chevy trucks for seven years before buying this truck and now have 43,000 miles on it. The brake recall wasn't needed until I reached 35700 and Nissan had done one seatbelt recall. Overall, I am very satisified with this truck. I'm going to start pulling a 28 foot Hornet Hideout travel trailer I bought for vacations now but pretty sure this truck will handle it. I had Nissan installed a 2" lift, dual exhaust and K&N Intake in early 2006 and had this truck configured fully loaded when purchased. So far this truck hasn't caused me any problems, rides very smooth and am glad I bought it. I bought the iPod kit and installed it myself because the auxiliary feature wasn't loud enough
Awesome
I test drove a ford f-150 xlt triton, a chevy silverado 1500 and a 2500HD and a tundra. i test drove the nissan titan last, and that was my final test drive. I've had my titan for less than a month and i wouldn't buy any other truck. this truck has so much power and interior room. overall, i give this truck a 10 out of 10.
Time Tested Review
Satisfied owner after 3 1/2 yrs / 50k mi. 2 recalls (FT rotors & R doors). Normal driving 15/16 City 17/18 hwy. Solid engine and drivetrain gives you a feel of confidence in this vehicle. Excellent interior room, handling, acceleration, ride comfort, and large windows that will spoil you from enjoying other vehicles of this class and price range. Paint, trim, and OE 18 alloyed wheels have proven the test of time without defect. Highly recommend potential ½ ton P/U buyers test drive before buying from the competition.
Can't wait for the new one to come out!
I bought my Titan w/ 113,000 miles on it and it is just like a brand new one. I now have 126,000 on it and not one problem. Take care of it and it will surely take care of you. If you have ever questioned if you should buy this truck over the Detroit boys, well you would never regret it. Give it a chance and you will never go back, I promise you that.
Wouldn't own another Nissan
This truck has numerous recalls. I had to replace the entire rearend because Nissan couldn't replace leaking rear axle seals. They replaced it with a rearend from a newer year. $2700. Fuse box went bad. $425. Never had that happen before. Have to press gas pedal to start it now. Nissan has no idea what's wrong. Interior light problems. Electric window problems. 4x4 sensor problems. Front seats falling apart.
Glad I chose the right truck!!!
I like the riding comfort of the titan, the engine! how it accelerate wow! it's tight! the interior was cool so as the sound system! i love it! actually i love everything about TITAN!!!
Nissan Front Brake Issue
Nissan needs to fix this front brake problem that they say is only in So. Ca. and NY. This will be the second time for shutter in steering due to warped rotors from brakes overheating. I guess if it isn't fixed a third time I will review the lemon law in Ca. I know others who have been there 3 times for brakes.Front window problems.
small business owner
nice truck lots of power fun to drive. sticker reads 15 city and 19 highway. i get 10 city and 15 highway. doors don't close very well, passengers allways close twice. g.p.s. is not user friendly. when you are driving your passenger can not use the gps and pulling over so you can use it is not allways possible. that's sucks. hunda has a better gps.
Best truck I've ever owned
Simply put, this is with out a doubt the best truck that Ive ever owned. Ive had Toyota (great reliability but kind of underpowered), Dodge (OK reliability but zero fun factor), and a Ford (good looking truck but near 100k time to break out the check book for the up coming repairs). So far the reliability is what you would expect, perfect. Time will tell the long term reliability though. The best thing about this truck is the drive train. Its as close to perfect that Ive found in a truck. HUGE fun factor here. Plus, I get lots of compliments from people especially when I say Its a Nissan.Bottom line, Id buy another one of these again in second if I had the chance.
Impressive!
Only had a few days but am already convinced that this is the best truck for the money in this class. I paid 31000 and got the Big Tow pkg as well as the floor mats, splashguards and the bed extender. Just an all around sweet ride for the money. Seems like Nissan covered most of the bases when they designed this truck. Would like to see a place to put change and I can see that the oil filter is not going to be easy to reach because it is under the skid plate. Not my problem though since my dealer included three years of oil changes. If you are looking for a truck in this class, you can't go wrong with the Titan!
Big Truck
When shopping for a new truck, I only looked at the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan. Thought that the Japanese makers would have higher quality. But after only 4 months of ownership thing are already going wrong. The brakes stared to shimmy after only 2 months and the interior is already starting to fall apart. Buttons on knobs are falling off. The rubber around the door is also falling off. For a full- size pick-up truck, this thing is a little too refined and fragile on the inside. This makes me wish I had looked at the more traditional U.S. makers such as Dodge, Ford, and GMC, or went with the Toyota.
My first titan truck
I have bought a Nissan Titan SE King Cab with the Bench Popular Package and the Utility Bed Package . I paid 25,500 so after tax title and license it was 26,996. There is a lot of space inside this truck I can fit 3 kids in back with there child seats and have room to spare. There also is a lot of storage space inside example: overhead console, door panel, and the center console. I like the auxiliary plug that is intergraded into the stereo for my MP3 player The quality from the stereo is ok not the best. Also driving at night the light from the stereo is reflected to the back window and then to the rear view mirror which is annoying. But over all this truck is great.
Why so much double sided tape?
I like the truck I Just think they should have used more screws than tape and snap together parts. My dash makes noises like it is about to fall out of the truck, and the mud flaps are held on with doudle sided tape. I mean come on $30,000 for a truck that after 1000 miles parts started falling off. Whats next? I wonder what holds the engine in chewing gum? I have a date with the service department monday hope they can fix it, or i will have to go ford.
Titan is Superb!
I got the king cab w/ leather. I've only had it a week and a half, but I absolutely love the thing. Great handling, acceleration and power. 6 CD changer by Rockford Fosgate is the bomb! Had GMC's for years and this just blows it away. Made in U.S, too. Way too many little things to mention. Very well thought out machine. My buddy works at the dealership and he went to Texas for a closed road testing all day. He was very impressed w/ handling and braking. Has disc brakes all around. I would highly reccomend it. The only thing I really dislike is the gas mileage but it should get better as engine breaks in.
Titan is an appropriate name!
I had towed my 9 year money pit Dodge Ram and bought this after reading many reviews. This truck is the best truck I've ever owned. My only knock on this King Cab model is the doors closing. Sometimes, you have to slam it or it won't close. All those complaining about fuel economy - its a pickup truck for God's sake. The power is incredible and the features are as well. You won't find a more affordable, powerful truck anywhere. I have not had any of the radio problems others talk about but their problem might be the feature on the stereo that changes volume with speed which can be turned off. Nissan hit a home run with their first full size truck!
titan gone bad
driverside rear seat belt still not working right since may. had truck in for worped rotors fixed but worped again. had brake recall done still getting shaking when braking around 30mph. stereo reception sucks, power windows will not come up when pulling up on switchs the first time. front bumper is not aligned properly. maybe i just got a lemon or could it be it was built on a monday or friday.
It's a keeper!
It is hard to get a 10 out of me, but not reflected is overall satisfaction. I rate it a 10. I have 1200 miles on it now, and aside from a few quality control issues - what a great truck. Nissan really put some thought into engineering this truck. It is a far cry from the "modular" world of the domestics; where picking and pulling parts from the shelves that do not work well together has become the standard. The engine, oh, the engine... Ladies, it tightens my pants when I hit the accelerator. It is hard for anything to turn 33 inch tires, but this thing will melt both of them down on dry pavement. Relatively smooth ride for such a rigid frame. A+
Nissan Titan
This is a fine truck. I was hesitant to buy the first year production of a truck but it has worked out ok with one exception. The performance of this truck is great. It is fast. The drive is like a car. The exeption (this truck has 11k miles on it) the driver's electric window recently broke, won't role up. Other than that problem, I'm extremely happy with the vehicle. The pricing on the Titan is very competetive. Though I was attracked to the Dodge truck, it was quite a bit more expensive. I'm quite happy with my purchase.
Just a Big 10
Excellent Handling and Performance, lots of comfort and the safety features are great, from the down hill decent that allows the engine to do the breaking, the vehicly dynamic control is great in all weather, and with it off the truck has better performance. Smooth transmission, ride and excellent sound system. Convient rear seats that do it all, passenger seat that folds flat, and the style everyone likes. I think Nissan took the best of all trucks on the market, gave excellent quality, and gave it a great price. avg mpg town and hwy 17.6 mpg. 4wd is very smooth to shift in and out. A perfect 10, and priced right!
'04 Titan Review
Love this truck. I get a lot of comments about it. Biggest gripe is mileage - I usually get around 16 mpg. However, after I used SUV formula in my last oil change, I'm now getting 18 mpg. Not too bad for a big truck. Power is great, handles tight. Love the stereo - lots of other great design features. Road noise is higher than I like, but the exhaust has a nice growl.
Repeat Nissan Buyer
As one of the first owners of the 350z coupe in 2002, I had a unique opportunity to evaluate the "new" Nissan, and wasn't disappointed. When my job required a pickup truck, going back to the dealer to look at a Titan was a sure bet. As a direct result of the excellent performance, reliability, and dealer service on my 350z, I had no problem taking home a Titan, especially after a test drive. Interiors have improved dramatically from 5-10 years ago, and the mechanicals are still world-class. At the price point, this truck was by far the best in class. Very solid and sturdy feeling. I went back to Nissan, and will go back again to buy my next vehicle, no question.
New Vehicle, expect minor problems
Purchased in June 2004.You truly have as much back seat room as front seat. I added (off- site) a spray in liner and tonneau cover for much less than dealer could have done. Made a 2450 mile trip to Colorado after owning vehicle for 3 weeks. Awesome performance and great gas mileage. With air conditioning, I averaged 17 mpg and without, 20 mpg. Yes, 20 mpg in the mountains w/o air conditioning. Had one problem on vacation. Nissan is having major problems with the regulators in the power windows. They WILL break, just ask yourself when. The window will not roll up and I drove around on vacation with a 2x4 in my door panel, but the window did stay
Wife loves my Titan more than me!
It's easy to tell that Nissan put alot of thought, money, and effort into developing the Titan. What an awesome truck! Easily the best vehicle period I've owned or driven. Smooth power. Lotsa power. Great suspension with my off road pack. Comfy, quiet (except for the head-turning V-8 burble}, Excellent interior layout. It goes on and on. My only beef is with my column mount shifter. Without fail when shifting to park my hand comes down and turns on the wipers. Obviously it is a minor quirk in an otherwise great truck, especially for a first effort. Can you imagine what the 2007's will be like after all the tweaking gets done?
