Love this truck
While I think Nissan should have done a little better with the quality of materials inside the truck, I am very happy with it. Everyone looks at it. Nice to know I have the power under the hood. Planning a 2000 mile road trip soon so we'll se how it behaves.
A step above the others
It's big, bigger interior than a 1500HD crew cab. It's smooth and quiet, except if you step on it. The motor sounds a little like a v8 Camaro from the 80's. Very comfortable seats unless your tall. It's certainly faster than my 99 z71. Lots of little items than add up to a well executed vehicle. Worth a look if your open to driving an import. It took me a while to convince myself not to buy a new chevy, but I'm glad I did.

Not A Fod Truck Man....Anymore
After owning several Ford Trucks and getting great service out of all of them(100 to 200K) I made the mistake of driving the Titan. I will prewarn you. Don't do this unless you are ready to buy. This truck is awesome. Like others the power and handling is great. Love the Stereo (even if it really is a Panasonic and Fosgate by name only.) The bed liner and utilitrack system are nice add ons as well as the small but functional side storage compartment. This baby is a pure joy to drive. It even lets me meet new people at all the gas stations I get to stop at. Yes the milage is not great, but I knew that going in so no big deal!!! I highly recommend this truck
Drive this before you buy another
Purchased crew cab LE, 4X4. Beautiful vechicle inside and out. Not the Nissan of old! Responsive stering, throaty exhaust and a tight suspension make this truck very fun to drive. My wife was nervous to drive it because she thought it would drive like a big, clumsy truck but once she got behind the wheel she did not want to give it up! If you are thinking about buying a Chevy, Dodge or Ford (Tundra does not compare) then you should test drive this truck! You won't be sorry! Only thing I can say negative is that they are not readily available yet and this causes the dealers not to deal much. These trucks are selling at MSRP or not much off at all.
Titan vs The Other's
I have owned a Ford F150 extra cab, a GMC extra cab, and a Cherolet Z71 extra cab and the Titan is a step above the rest. So many features, great style and loads of power put the Titan in a class by itself.
MY EXPERIENCE
Great engine sound. Very fast. Excellent exterior and exterior design. Lower than expected actual MPG. My only problems are the fact that the truck doesn't handle well on highway at fast speeds of 75-80MPH. I don't feel safe driving that speed in this truck but did so with ease in my previous truck hade by another company. Other complaints are radio controls, no rear defroster and no locking doors when truck is out of park. So far, everything else is GREAT!
new car review
Like driving a 747 after 35 years of sedans. Enjoy the height and smooth road feel. Interior appointments first class...leather and all the toys, navigation and dvd, makes it a little expensive but.....
Inspect your plastic
Switches not plugged in. Missing and unsecure plastic panels.
Look before you leap!
Can you spell G A S ??? Own a country in the Middle East before you buy. EPA rating of 14/20 is a myth, who tested this vehicle? Unique design, great Fosgate stereo if you play CDs, forget the radio sound. Quirky color scheme - butterscotch and gray? Japanese build quality not as good as I expected, minor problems become a nuisance. Only headphones disguise the exhaust roar...
Buy One!
Overall a great buy. Roomy, spray in bedliner, good visibility, plenty of power, adjustable pedals, easy to clean cloth seats, disc brakes all around, and plenty of storage! Tires are good for road and rain but not for off road mud/snow, flip up middle seat/console fabric prone to pulling away from retaining clips, heavily baffled muffler is extremely hot and should be replaced with a less restrictive one. The only real complaint I have is with Nissan dealerships. The scams and pressure and tricks almost made me rethink my purchase. But getting the Titan was still a decision I do not regret.
the winds of change
this truck blows all the other truck right out of the water. it has great performce, confort, and fetures. i bought mine for $89 over invoice. bottom line great truck the power is awusome. the F-150 runs out of power fast on the highway, this just keeps going, like the maxiama
Big, smooth, comfortable, Powerful
Love it so far. Two things... it has awesome power and pick up (0 - 60 in around 7 seconds). This things rides very smooth and I risk getting a ticket because I can't tell how fast I'm going. Great sound system (although missing a cassette - and no XM Radio option). Some interior storage issues (I like a place - ashtray? - to store coins. The center console is big enough to store an average laptop but I have a 16" screen and it doesn't really fit. It is comfortable though. Great for kids (tons of room in the back seat.
That thing got a Hemi? Nope, better.
You simply cannot buy more truck for the money. Ford and Chevy have Nissan on the interior niceties, but drivetrain, engine, and usability define the Nissan
No More F150's
I will make this simple. The interior is huge. I am 6'5" and fit in here easily with a grown man sitting behind me. The truck accelerates very quickly, shifts smooth and gets great gas mileage. The 6 disc changer delivers studio quality sound and the ride quality rivals most full size sedans. Also, road noise does not exist, it is quiet. Now for one important thing...price. I bought this truck $3500 cheaper than a comparably equipped Ford F150 supercrew. Ford has been #1 in my book and many others for years, but I firmly believe that it is time for a new leader.
Don't buy an F-150 yet
Just bought the truck last week and am in love. Go for the Crew Cab Le, you won't regret the extra money. This truck has it all: power, looks, comfort, and utility. Gas mileage is what you would expect for the power this truck has. I tear up my friends Silverado with the 5.3.
OUR NEW BABY
THIS TRUCK IS GREAT! THERE IS SO MUCH ROOM INSIDE I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT ALL.
Titanium
It is a pretty good vehicle lots of room and good to tow your boat
great truck
Love this truck, I think it is light years better than the competition. I have driven or owned all of them and it is truly the best.
Much better built than my 02 Ford F 150.
Awesome power and towing capability. It just seems like it is built better than my 2002 Ford F 150. I really like the 6 disc changer. I would recommend it to anyone.
WOW!!!!!!!
WOW, if you are considering, stop considering and go out and get one. This truck is amazing, I have not had this much fun driving for a long time. THANKS Nissan for hitting a grandslam!!!!!!!!
This is an awesome truck!
This thing is powerful, fast, comfortable, good-looking, I could go on and on. I tested a 2004 Silverado SS for a weekend and was turned off by the fuel economy and premium gas requirement. I then ruled out trucks for over 7 months, but I needed one so I went back to researching them. The Titan had everything I was looking for, and a console shift to boot. On top of everything else it has going for it, it will run on regular gas and get an average mixed economy of 16 - 17 mpg.
Good Engine, Lots of Problems
The truck has a nice engine, and nice interior. It's very roomy and comfortable. I've had the vehicle in for service 20 times now with continuous problems. Several recalls on the vehicle and poor customer service. The stereo wouldn't pickup AM stations overtime and then would lose signal outright. It took over 7 times to get the stereo right and still they haven't put the proper face plate back onto the vehicle. Bottom line, nice engine and very comfortable, but very poorly built.
Aggressive Styling, Tons of Torque
This truck gets a lot of comments and looks when on the road. Really enjoy driving and hearing the exhaust note. Yes the ride is a little choppy but it is a 1/2 ton TRUCK, get over it. Go buy a sissy SUV if you want a quiet smooth drive. Only disappointments are the gas mileage and brakes which I have observed this stated in other reviews. I am on my third set of rotors and do not pull anything over 3500lbs. Of course GAS MIlEAGE is a major concern, only recourse is to keep the accelerator pedal off the floor! Recommend this truck against all others due to price and option packages. Just make sure to light up the tires once, way to much fun!
Not too shabby....
Handles beautifully, so comfortable. As someone said above, back to the dealership within a day of buying, and again within a week. The lights staying on on the dash are a problem with the offroad package: a clip bent by the front passenger side tire made the cable go into the rim and get worn through by the tire causing the ABS, VDC and slip light to stay on - which means there was actually no ABS in the front. The dealership was able to fix this, along with a rattle in the front dash.
First review...1000 miles
We bought the truck on 12 Jan 2004 and in the last week we have put just over 1k miles on her. SE King Cab 2WD model with the Pop Bench Pkg, Big Tow Pkg and Bed Pkg. $1400 under MSRP was the best we found after shopping 4 lots in our area over 2 weeks. Out of 35 trucks they had, less than 5 now. So getting them far below MSRP is not gonna happen here in Socal. Were actually going to replace my wifes 99.5 Pathfinder with an '04 but after she has seen and driven the Titan it was a no brainer. $3k less than the Pathy. My wife just can't wipe the grin off her face. And to tell the tructh, niether can I. I love the power and feel of this Full Sized TRUCK!
Lovin it every day
I've only owned it three weeks. Have 1500 miles on it. I love every minute in it. It's comfortable, quiet, has really positve handling, and enough power and pep to delight anyone unless they happen to be Big Daddy Don Garlits (sp). I average 15 mpg clutzing around town and back and forth to work. Took a 200 mile trip last weekend on state highways and got 17mpg. I'm sure on a trip on interstate at steady speeds it will easily get the advertized 19mpg or better. A really great vehicle with plenty of room for me and my five gandkids. Bob
DRIVE ONE !!!
I have been a Ford man for 30 years. After problems with my last two I decided to try something new.So far I love this truck.I opted out of the "Big Tow" & "Offroad Pkg" to get better mpg. With 2500 miles on the truck I'm getting 16-18 mpg (Better than my 5.4 Fords & lots of smooooth power).Silky transmission. DRIVE ONE !!!
Brakes warp
I own a 6,300 lb travel trailor and I purchased my 2004 Nissan Titan just so I could pull it. It has no problem pulling, the problem is stopping. Everytime I pull this trailor the front rotors warp and the truck shakes really badly. I have had it worked on several times and Nissan is aware of the problem. They even told me that all of the Titans and the Armadas have this problem. They have not fixed it to date. I will never buy another Nissan product again because they know the problem and won't fix it. The regional sales director for Nissan in North Carolina last response to me was "Safe driving," which was very irritating.
The new Titan
My titan has about 2000 miles on it. I get 14.5 mpg currently. It has alot of power and so far nothing has gone wrong. Clements auto in Mankato MN was a straight forward dealership that played no games. I like driving my truck and I will be putting it to good use this summer and fall. Bob Deeb
Still New
Purchased the Titan LE with Big Tow , Side air bags, Running Boards, Floor Mats, Splash Guards, Have 1100 miles and checked gas mileage 17 MPG City/Hiway driving, seems to be a strong truck, smooth ride, drives good, HOT RODDER BEWARE, the brake pads/rotors will be the first to go along with lousy MPG I own a 04 Toyota Sienna have got 29.3 MPG avg.during the 11,000 city/highway driving and expect to get 20+MPG on expressway trips @65 MPH.
Loving every minute of it!
I've had my Titan CC SE 4WD for 2 weeks now and haven't stopped smiling since. It's big, but drives small. So much power at foot...and a smoother ride than my Pathfinder LE. The Crew Cab is huge! With the captains chairs there's still enough room for 5, plus all your gear. Much better interior and exterior than the domestic competition.
"Don't Believe The Hype"
Just wanted anyone that wants to know that this is by far the worst vehicle that you could buy. This truck has been one problem after another. The first major problem (the shifter locking up so that it won't shift past neutral and or out of park into drive) showed up 16 hours after I picked it up from the dealership; and by the way 7 months later it is still not fixed. Their has been a problem at least once a month. And don't even think of Nissan being any help either to you or the dealership. Half the time I called them and left messages about my file with customer service, they would even call me back. Two days ago I contacted the Better Business Bureau. PLEASE SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!
Lots of Looks
Fun to drive,fantastic stereo,very comfortable,quiet.
Very Happy Titan Owner
I dont need to say more than this is what a pickup is all about...
30,000 MILE REVIEW
I paid $35,000 and i have 29,690 miles. I have owned it for 10 months. I dont have enough space to list all the problems so here is the most annoying. The transmition doesnt shift properly. Knocking noise from engine area at idle. While braking, the steering wheel shakes and brake pedal pulsates Replaced front brakes @ 19,000 miles and again at 26,000. 4 lo light remains on after vehicle is switched to 2 wheel drive.Low tire pressure sensor always on.The drivers window fails to come up intermittently when fully opened.Body squeaks and rattles.Rockford Fosgate radio volume goes up/down and radio doesnt receive FM well.Tailgate does not latch on right side.A/C making loud hissing noise.....
Coops Choice
I have waited on this truck for over a year and this truck is everything I hoped it would be. I have only driven a little over 300 miles so far, and it handles great. Acceleration is smooth and very powerful. Heads turn when this truck rolls. Not kidding. Gas mileage is hitting around town at about 15, but expect to get a little better as it gets a few more miles on it. The crew cab has lots of leg room in front and back seat with comfortable seating. The back seats actually have enough recline angle to be comforable. The only problem I forsee is keeping my wife in her Max and out of my truck. I am very satisfied.
2004 Nissan Problems
Trim. A few minor things but not too bad. The disc brakes on the front started vibrating at 5000 miles, have yet to take it in for that. Vibration in 4WD...normal?
Best 1/2 Ton Truck
Ten months and 10.5K miles of ownership and best truck I have ever owned. Ain't perfect, brakes have problems (judder) but Nissan is stepping up to plate and covering any brake problems for a full three years and 36K miles on original brakes and replacing with newer rotors and pads to correct problem. If looking for a used one, try to find an '04 with tow pkg, since it included VDC (vehicle dynamic control) an option appreciated with a truck that has this much POWER! VDC is optioned with side air bags on the '05's. Both these options hard to come by, or not even available, on Chev, Ford, Dodge.
Dreamed of Chevy but discovered Titan!!!
POWER, comfort, stability and more POWER! I have always said there was nothing like an American made truck and dreamed of a new Silverado, Sierra or Ram w/ Hemi until I test drove the Titan. Awesome truck! I owned a Ford F-150 but quality was poor. The standard features on a SE model alone are amazing but I added the utility bed package and the big tow package. Yeah some of you may say the HEMI 5.7 liter 16 valve has more horse power (345 to Titans 305) but it also has less torque (275 to Titans 379) and remember that this is the Titans STANDARD 5.6 , 32 valve engine. I purchased a Crew Cab SE 2WD Titan in January 2004 and love it.
Great truck
I have had this truck for two years and have no complaints. I am going to sell and get a new one.
New Nissan Titan
I purchased my Titan after driving small trucks for 15 years and it was a big change, Overall the truck seems perfect for what I do Boating,Fishing,Beach,Lake and Camping.I can hardly wait for the break in period to be over ( 500 miles ) to start towing my boat
Fun to Drive, Hard to pay for!!
This truck is fun, fun, fun to drive. With the 305 HP motor, it makes you feel like you're in a Mustang the size of a tank. I have only had one problem so far. The hose from the AC condenser in the dash to the outside was defective and it caused water to leek in the truck on the pasanger side. It took several trips to the dealership and 6 weeks to resolve the problem (I think it was the dealership though). If you can afford it, buy one. FUN, FUN, FUN
2004 Nissan Titan
Comfortable, best towing in its class, good fuel economy for the size...Everything Nissan's advertisements claim, we have found to be true. This is an extremely comfortable ride. The backseat leg and head room is amazing. Our salesman is 6'8" an even he was comfortable in the back! With the optional towing and off- road packages it is a fisherman's dream. Maneuvering the boat ramp is much easier with the power and handling of a Titan. We test drove a Toyota Tundra and really liked it. Then we drove the Nissan Titan and knew we had found a better truck. Nissan really got it right with this one.
What a Truck
This is the best truck I've ever owned. The engine and transmission are great. Most of the power is at the low end where you need it most (I use mine as a truck not as a hot rod). The cab is roomy, and the exterior is great. The utilitrac bed makes securing any load a breeze. I have overloaded this truck including 1200lb pallet in bed with 300lb toolbox plus other tools and the suspension did not bottom out, and the truck handled the load with no problems. If you are shopping for a full size truck you need to test drive this beast.
I've gone to the dark side!
I'm not a truck owner type but after test driving the Titan, I am now! You can say that the Titan has brought me to the dark side. Ive always thought the large vehicle craze was ridicules, why own an oversized scrape of metal on 4 wheels that sucks down gas like no tomorrow. Fuel economy was no longer my concern once I felt the power of the 5.6 L engine, what a joy! Great job Nissan on your first Full- size pick up truck!
Nice truck but consider higher trim leve
I bought this truck 2 weeks ago. It is a blast to drive. But, the XE King Cab doesn't come with power windows/mirrors, keyless entry or tinted glass (rear tint is an option). Think about this when you buy one, I'm 6'1" and cant reach across the bench seat at a stoplight with the foot on the brake to adjust a mirror, unlock the passenger door (well, maybe with the console up) or roll down the passenger window. Consider the next higher trim level. Otherwise, It drives like a sportscar with power on tap. I can blast over speed bumps at work without hardly feeling them.
Save some time and read
I tested the F-150 & Tundra. I was going with the Tundra until I read about the Titan. Most room and best ride of all. Ample power, and handles very well. Before you buy the Ford, be sure to drive it up a hill.
Nissan hits the mark the first time out!
This truck is living up to the hype. After clocking over 300 miles in the first week the impression of quality craftsmanship is what I take from the Titan experience. Power is strong anywhere in the RPM range and the transmission is so smooth, the only way you can tell it is shifting is by the louder growl from the engine. Gas mileage through the first 300 miles was 13.32 mpg but I expect that to improve once the vehicle is broken in. Best advice I can give is that if you are in the market for a new truck, try them all out and choose what you like best which in many cases, if given the chance, will be the Titan.
What a sport truck
Have done my homework on buying a truck. For the money you can' t go wrong. The motor and 5 speed trans. are worth the money alone. It is so roomy inside, you can really fit anyone inside the front or the back seats. You will get a lot of looks and get into long talks with people at car washes. I live in Az and still had to get the Galaxy black. what a color. Great overall. I have the LE model and love it.
Truck?
Dumped a Range Rover after it's leaving me stranded for the third time. The Nissan has been a real pleasure to drive. It is almost a shame to call it a truck. Smooth ride, excellent powerband, killer sound system. It pulls my boat and a full load in the bed without any problem.
