My second review

See my post on 10/7/04 right after I bought the truck. Its now been two months and I still love the truck. Being a first year model I knew their would be some kinks along the way too. I've had some minor brake problems. I say minor, but will know for sure tomorrow when it goes in to the dealer. Feels like the rotors have warped, after only 4000 miles. If they are warped, they will be replacing, not cutting them. If their cut, its that much sooner I have to replace them at my expense. Also, had a minor problem with the driver window not coming back up immediatley. It took about 5 tries to get it to come up. Think it was because I pushed against it a little as it was going down.

After 30000 miles in a Frontier, having a bigger truck with way more HP is a great thing. This truck is comfortable, yet has a lot of muscle for hauling big loads. I wish I'd bought it sooner.

Tundra What?

This is it, except for the new Ford nothing comes close. I wanted a Tundra in the worst way however Toyota has a lot of improving to do. It was a close call between the F-150 and titan however the Titan won me over with it's all around competance. If you took the motor/tranny from the Titan and put it in a F-150 you would have possibly the best selling truck for 5 years with no major changes. I did like the F-150 interior though.

I traded in my 03 Frontier Crew Cab for my new Titan Crew Cab. What a difference. I have been a Ford fan for years but Nissan's products are hard to beat, especially on quality and price. We have taken 2 road trips and found it to be most comfortable. Passing is not problem. The folding rear seats make for perfect storage while carrying things that don't need to be exposed to the weather I have received numerous compliments on my Titan's appearance. Especially the Deep Water blue paint. I'm routinely getting 16 mpg in town and 19 on the highway without a headwind. Outstanding Truck!!

Love this truck. I get a lot of comments about it. Biggest gripe is mileage - I usually get around 16 mpg. However, after I used SUV formula in my last oil change, I'm now getting 18 mpg. Not too bad for a big truck. Power is great, handles tight. Love the stereo - lots of other great design features. Road noise is higher than I like, but the exhaust has a nice growl.

I traded in my 2000 SE 4X4 Xterra for this XE Crew Cab 4X4 'Off Road' Titan. I can't believe what a better vehicle this is than the Xterra and even the Dodge SLT 4X4 Crew cab. First the milage is only 1 mile less for both town and road compared to my Xterra. I'm averaging about 14 miles/gallon. This is during the breakin which I generally see about 3 miles/gallon better after about 5000 miles. The power is awesome, faster than a Hemi Ram (Motor Trend/Car & Driver)and offers a ride comparable to a lux car. Even my X didn't ride this good. Has all the goodies in the off road pack. Fit and Finish are great as well as the sound system.

Titan burly exhaust note

As to the con: burly exhaust note, this is actually one of the best features. The titan sounds awesome. Unfortunately thats the only good I see. Titan has known issues with the brakes. Apparently they chose a rotor that the metal distorts and causes the rotors to warp and the steering wheel shakes really bad. I had them done first at 13k miles and again at 19k miles. The first fix they cut all 4 rotors, and now there is a horrendous noise in the front suspension, second time they replaced the fronts with the same thing that was on there before and again said they cut the rear rotors. The service manager told me to keep bringing it back. I dont want to keep bringing it back.

My first titan truck

I have bought a Nissan Titan SE King Cab with the Bench Popular Package and the Utility Bed Package . I paid 25,500 so after tax title and license it was 26,996. There is a lot of space inside this truck I can fit 3 kids in back with there child seats and have room to spare. There also is a lot of storage space inside example: overhead console, door panel, and the center console. I like the auxiliary plug that is intergraded into the stereo for my MP3 player The quality from the stereo is ok not the best. Also driving at night the light from the stereo is reflected to the back window and then to the rear view mirror which is annoying. But over all this truck is great.

When shopping for a new truck, I only looked at the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan. Thought that the Japanese makers would have higher quality. But after only 4 months of ownership thing are already going wrong. The brakes stared to shimmy after only 2 months and the interior is already starting to fall apart. Buttons on knobs are falling off. The rubber around the door is also falling off. For a full- size pick-up truck, this thing is a little too refined and fragile on the inside. This makes me wish I had looked at the more traditional U.S. makers such as Dodge, Ford, and GMC, or went with the Toyota.

I have 2 main wishes about this truck. I do not like the black plastic at the tailgate release lever. I also wish it had the power vertical rear window a-la the Tundra Double Cab. That being said, I love my Titan SE Crew 4x4 with Rockford Package, Utility bed and Big Tow package. Living near the North Carolina mountains, it pulls the hills in this area with much power to spare and decent gas mileage while doing so. I had been waiting a while for such a tough looking, well-equipped truck, and at last I have one. I would recommend this truck to anyone looking for great quality, power, tough looks and I'm counting on the long-term reliability Nissan has been known for!

This truck is extremely powerful. The off road package with Rancho shocks makes for a rougher ride but they are worth it. I tow horses with it - no problem. The window switches have been replaced once and may have to be again. Smart to make them one touch though. Spray in bedliner and utilitrack system have saved me money by reducing the damage to my truck when hauling heavy stuff. Radio has road noise sensor that adjusts volume automatically. This is annoying. Try to avoid this if possible. VDC keeps the truck more level on tight turns and I am happy with the truck over all. Personal Rating 1 thru 10 = [9.99]

Simply put, this is with out a doubt the best truck that I’ve ever owned. I’ve had Toyota (great reliability but kind of underpowered), Dodge (OK reliability but zero fun factor), and a Ford (good looking truck but near 100k… time to break out the check book for the up coming repairs). So far the reliability is what you would expect, perfect. Time will tell the long term reliability though. The best thing about this truck is the drive train. It’s as close to perfect that I’ve found in a truck. HUGE fun factor here. Plus, I get lots of compliments from people especially when I say “It’s a Nissan”.Bottom line, I’d buy another one of these again in second if I had the chance.

Only had a few days but am already convinced that this is the best truck for the money in this class. I paid 31000 and got the Big Tow pkg as well as the floor mats, splashguards and the bed extender. Just an all around sweet ride for the money. Seems like Nissan covered most of the bases when they designed this truck. Would like to see a place to put change and I can see that the oil filter is not going to be easy to reach because it is under the skid plate. Not my problem though since my dealer included three years of oil changes. If you are looking for a truck in this class, you can't go wrong with the Titan!

I had towed my 9 year money pit Dodge Ram and bought this after reading many reviews. This truck is the best truck I've ever owned. My only knock on this King Cab model is the doors closing. Sometimes, you have to slam it or it won't close. All those complaining about fuel economy - its a pickup truck for God's sake. The power is incredible and the features are as well. You won't find a more affordable, powerful truck anywhere. I have not had any of the radio problems others talk about but their problem might be the feature on the stereo that changes volume with speed which can be turned off. Nissan hit a home run with their first full size truck!

I like the truck I Just think they should have used more screws than tape and snap together parts. My dash makes noises like it is about to fall out of the truck, and the mud flaps are held on with doudle sided tape. I mean come on $30,000 for a truck that after 1000 miles parts started falling off. Whats next? I wonder what holds the engine in chewing gum? I have a date with the service department monday hope they can fix it, or i will have to go ford.

My brakes are terrible. The dealer and Nissan have been trying to fix it since 3900 miles. Now, 4 months later and 5000 more miles, it is still not repaired. Nissan Consumer Affairs doesn't care about anyone. It took them 2.5 weeks just to call back and aclnowledge my problem and then they said that they cannot get any parts? They said that I will just have to wait! Not me, I am gonna dump this for something that can be repaired! I have also had tire troubles, squeaks and a new ceiling console. NISSAN better rethink this one! Best of luck to any other owners of the TITAN!

I got the king cab w/ leather. I've only had it a week and a half, but I absolutely love the thing. Great handling, acceleration and power. 6 CD changer by Rockford Fosgate is the bomb! Had GMC's for years and this just blows it away. Made in U.S, too. Way too many little things to mention. Very well thought out machine. My buddy works at the dealership and he went to Texas for a closed road testing all day. He was very impressed w/ handling and braking. Has disc brakes all around. I would highly reccomend it. The only thing I really dislike is the gas mileage but it should get better as engine breaks in.

It is hard to get a 10 out of me, but not reflected is overall satisfaction. I rate it a 10. I have 1200 miles on it now, and aside from a few quality control issues - what a great truck. Nissan really put some thought into engineering this truck. It is a far cry from the "modular" world of the domestics; where picking and pulling parts from the shelves that do not work well together has become the standard. The engine, oh, the engine... Ladies, it tightens my pants when I hit the accelerator. It is hard for anything to turn 33 inch tires, but this thing will melt both of them down on dry pavement. Relatively smooth ride for such a rigid frame. A+

I Have only had my Crew Cab 4x4 Titan for a few days and love it. Have been a Ford guy my whole life. This changes everything. Very powerful. Sharp style. Fit and finish is above all others. An interior that looks like someone was actually thinking when they designed it. Thus far I am overjoyed. And I payed 2500 under list. That seems to be the best deal i've seen yet on one of them. I also have the DVD and Rockford Fosgate package. I enjoy them but find them to be quite over priced. Other than that, great truck.

Overall outstanding truck. Many thoughtful features from the Nissan engineers, with great attention to the details (power in truckbed, spray in liner, UTILITRACK!). Comfortable on long and short trips. Much better build than my previous GMC half ton. This is a solid truck that will serve you well on the job site or in suburbia. Dislikes...the radio tuner is awful, with the FM radio freq's sounding like they are almost underwater. CD player is fine. The radio also has an aux in for us iPod/MP3 users which is very helpful. 18" Goodyears will require financing to replace. Also be advised that this beast will not fit in a standard size garage door opening without folding in mirrors.

Excellent Handling and Performance, lots of comfort and the safety features are great, from the down hill decent that allows the engine to do the breaking, the vehicly dynamic control is great in all weather, and with it off the truck has better performance. Smooth transmission, ride and excellent sound system. Convient rear seats that do it all, passenger seat that folds flat, and the style everyone likes. I think Nissan took the best of all trucks on the market, gave excellent quality, and gave it a great price. avg mpg town and hwy 17.6 mpg. 4wd is very smooth to shift in and out. A perfect 10, and priced right!

This is a fine truck. I was hesitant to buy the first year production of a truck but it has worked out ok with one exception. The performance of this truck is great. It is fast. The drive is like a car. The exeption (this truck has 11k miles on it) the driver's electric window recently broke, won't role up. Other than that problem, I'm extremely happy with the vehicle. The pricing on the Titan is very competetive. Though I was attracked to the Dodge truck, it was quite a bit more expensive. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

Dealer says spare parts will fix problem temporarily, while nissan is finding out the real solution. I heard Nissan Armada got same problem.

This is the best truck around. I have driven in Chevies, Dodges, and Fords and they do not compare. The Tundra is less powerful, smaller, and less sporty inside and out (current model). As far as other complaints about gas mileage, I get as good or better than my friends in domestic full size trucks. Nissan put in all the features on their first try with a full size truck.

This is an outstanding vehicle. I've owned many different trucks through the years and this is near perfect. Only a few things hold it back. Interior materials are subpar compared to other makes. There is a lot of chrome, which to me is not needed. Body style is fantastic. Now to the outstanding features. 1. Innovative styling-both interior and exterior. 2. Good group of options. 3. Best drive train available in any truck, period. 4. Brakes are outstanding. Overall I love this machine.

About every 6,000 miles expect front brake work. The first time, new pads, resurface rotors. Second time, new pads, new rotors, with explaination that all parts are not avail. Third time new pads, resurface rotors. Still no "parts" to correctlly fix. I suspect that in about 2,000 miles I'll be back again. Only this time I am going to make the dealer replace this vehicle under Florida's Lemon Law. Other than that it is a great truck

It's easy to tell that Nissan put alot of thought, money, and effort into developing the Titan. What an awesome truck! Easily the best vehicle period I've owned or driven. Smooth power. Lotsa power. Great suspension with my off road pack. Comfy, quiet (except for the head-turning V-8 burble}, Excellent interior layout. It goes on and on. My only beef is with my column mount shifter. Without fail when shifting to park my hand comes down and turns on the wipers. Obviously it is a minor quirk in an otherwise great truck, especially for a first effort. Can you imagine what the 2007's will be like after all the tweaking gets done?

Power is good but if the engine is built with the same quality as the rest of the vehicle I worry about the reliabilty. Driving the Titan is good but certainly not exceptional. I was fortunate that my truck came complete with scuffed/damaged tires and a door ding, thus saving me the worry of my first parking lot injuries. At least the paint didn't have the big clearcoat sags I noticed in another Titan. The passenger door lock and the low pressure warning light are items to be fixed, but with the confidence I have in the dealership I think I'll suffer these problems until Nissan send the recall notice! I'll listen to the ratings next time.

Outside of the engine and the premium sound system, I would not buy this truck again! Apparently, there's a waiting list from Nissan, including myself, for a known problem with the AC evaporator unit, which is behind the dashboard, that when it dies, they currently do not have a replacement and you'll have to wait for several months/year for one. Never buy a Nissan again!

The handling was the best truck experience I have ever had. The R&P steering set up makes the drive smooth. I have driven new chevys Dodges and Fords the titan beats them all. The only reason someone shouldn't buy this truck is if they have to have a deisel motor. I swear all it takes is a test drive and you are blown away! The exceleration is amazing! Each shift has such ease that you can't even feel the change. Anyone in the market for a truck HAS to give the Titan a shot. You have to experience this truck to really appreciate it. So go drive one! I promise this is a truck that will make the the husband and the wife happy!

Have been very impressed overall with the New Titan. The brakes are outstanding and smooth. Power is always available but after going through a few tanks of gas, I'm finding that if you keep your foot in this truck, it will pass everything but a gas station. Terrible gas mileage so far, even when driving ultra conservative. (ie highway at nothing over 65mph) 8mpg-10mpg (way off from the stated 15-18). Tow mirrors are very difficult to get use to.

Titan quality as bad as 80s-era Hyundai

Titan quality is horrible! Really, terribly bad, not just a little bit bad. At 350 miles (my 2nd $50.00 tank of gas) interior and exterior trim pieces are falling off or splitting apart in 5 places. Vehicle quality is on par with 80s-era Hyundai or 70s-era GM. I bought Japanese seeking quality. Big mistake! I greatly regret buying this vehicle because its quality is abysmal. The truck is extremely annoying in other ways. The blinkers are excruciatingly loud, so I'm having to learn NOT to use them! The stereo volume continually increases and decreases on its own. Seats are uncomfortable. Engine noise is annoying. Materials are 2nd-rate. Suntrup dealership is unhelpful.

when i opened the door of the titan, i was immediatly impressed by the two tone leather interior & the colors chosen to blend together. on examining the exterior, i was impressed with the spray on bedliner & the plastic rub strips in the floor of the bed. very practical & useful. a minor note that i saw, was the crush zones on the front frame extentions. these appear to be serviceable, & if they are, then will be very useful in collision repairs. other trucks either fail to offer this feature, or only offer the entire front frame section, still requiring removal of the entire cab assembly for proper access for welding.

This truck is well built, fun to drive and handles like a sports car. The engine is powerful and smooth. I love the 5 speed automatic tranny w/overdrive. Nissan hit a home run with this truck and I can only see it getting better as they continue develop this product. This is truly the beginning of the Asian invasion and I love it!

I brought my truck to the dealership after noticed a shiny area around mt front diff when I put my hand up to touch it it moved around like a joy stick. I bough it to the dealer and they popped the seal back in and filled it back up with diff fluid. They refused to cover it under warranty because I have a PRG leveling kit, I know other who have had the same problem lift kit or not and got it covered. I spent $95. Very disappointing.

I like my truck.. but being tall... it isn't made for tall people.... I also think that its way overpriced compared to similar options and packages that the F-150 offers.

bought my titan kc 4x4 this past december. although this is a new product for nissan, they have done their homework. this is one awsome vehicle. the power is incredable. when you step on the gas pedal, its acceleratration is unlike any truck ive ever driven,or any regular passenger car for that matter. although it has less than 800 miles on it,i think this truck has something to say to the big 3.i'm sure there will be some issues being its first year for this truck, but nissan has been building trucks a long, long time.

I had a deposit on 2004 F 150 which is a great truck A friend suggested that I take the Titan out for a test ride before I get the 150 when I started the engine I was hooked great sound! when we took it for a test ride it felt like it had a hundred more horse power than the Ford 5.4 liter and the five speed trans is always in the right gear and the handling is fantastic

My experience with this truck so far has been good,Problems found so far is the front passenger window will not go up if it is all the way down, and the front brake rotors had to be turned down.all is fixed and runs and performs outstanding.I had loaded this truck with so much fire wood and it did not even get me a problem with a heavy load, the truck did not even sag one bit. The gass mileage is not bad at all for the style of truck--I get 20 mpg highway 16 city-if you are heavy on the peddle expect 13mpg city or lower!!

I bought my wife a Nissan Titan for Christmas 2003.... Awesome vehicle..the affordability and comfort are head and shoulders above my F150. Also the practical use of the truck bed is unmatched!

Bought this last year for a work truck, wife liked it so much she started driving it and didn't give it up. It rides great, very comfortable and has plenty of power. The Rockford Fosgate sounds good, volume adjusts with speed, (dont know if the 30000 mile review guy knows this) The only problem has been the brakes. I have had it in once, at 6000 miles, but they are starting to go again. If Nissan can't figure it out I will switch to Brembos. The gas mileage could be better, I have a 65 mile round trip commute and 16 mpg doesn't cut it. (this is why I am driving the wife's car)A friend of mine has one as well, he switched to syn. oil and diff. exhaust and got 20 mpg, but it should be better

It's time that Nissan put a full size truck on the market. Big 3 truck makers better watch out! Titan is here. This truck is powerful and thoughtful. Nissan sure put in a lot of thoughts and work on designing this new truck. It's hard to describe how great this truck is, go and test drive one, then you'll understand.
