Used 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV Consumer Reviews
Most unreliable vehicle I've ever seen.
Purchased a 2008 Grand Cherokee with a tad over 100k miles on it. I owned it for 2 years and spent just over $6000 alone in repairs. Blown transmission, blown engine (thanks to a botched oil change that was financially covered by them, luckily) blown alternator, replaced ball joints, replaced struts, replaced CV joint, replaced radiator, pretty much every part that is in that car was replaced in my 2-year span of owning this vehicle. I ended up stuck on the side of the road on three different occasions. Not to mention the ridiculous gas mileage (averaged 14 at best.) It's unbelievably unreliable. Which SUCKS because it's great in any weather conditions you put it in and looks sleek. I'd highly recommend avoiding.

Gift to myself
I purchased car for its looks! The Hemi engine didn't mean a thing to me but apparently it does to my fiance! He was impressed with the engine, the smoothness of the ride, the comfort and the fact that every other Jeep we see- does not compare to it in looks. Take it in for regular maintenance. So far- just have to replace the battery (Engine light came on- diagnostic said the battery need to be replaced, which I knew but was told the battery had nothing to do with the engine light). I know my truck. It may be a bit more expensive maintenance and parts but well worth it. Another downfall for me is- the instructions to add music, pictures via usb are not clear- still working on it. JGC is great, oh....just a side note, watch your speed. I find myself ready to race everybody!!

terrible vehicle DO NOT BUY A JEEP
I bought this vehicle at 80,000 because I do lots of camping and hiking. The jeeps had the look and reputation of being good outdoorsy vehicles that made me believe it was the right choice for me. I was dead wrong. From the week after i got it this car was nothing but trouble. I have had it for two years and it now has 144,000 miles on it. In those two years I have had the stater replaced 4 times, the water pump, serpentine belt, idle sensor, alternator, idle intake valve, and the fuel pump all replaced. Not to mention the back driver side window stopped working, about 6 months after i got it the radio cut off and rarely worked, meaning the navigation system and back up camera also would not work. There was a very loud hum while going above 55 on highway, and before you say it no it was not the tires, the hum only occurred when my foot was on the gas. The acceleration would stutter occasionally if i was at a complete stop and tried to accelerate slowly. and if all this has not deterred you yet my car is now about to BLOW A ROD OR PISTON. Rendering my car useless and the only option is to replace the engine entirely. Mind you this car is at 144,000 miles. I had a 97 Ford Bronco that had 270,000 on it and it ran just fine never had to replace anything major. But the 2008 jeep grand cherokee? 144,000 miles and it is no longer operational? thats pathetic. So if you do ever buy a jeep of any year or any model just know you are essentially purchasing scrap metal on wheels. I will NEVER buy any product from jeep again. (UPDATE NOTE) I have now had a 2017 Ford Escape since this post and it is the best most reliable vehicle I’ve ever driven.

Good showing in 2008
4th Jeep - all Gr Ckees. I've been purchasing Laredo with Rocky Mtn edition - currently equipped with the X-package - perfect for me. Handling is solid as usual. Not as nimble as our Subie Tribeca. Fuel economy is as advertised. Since 05, I'm more confident with the handling. The shift placement of the gears has changed - I'm not certain if for the better or worse. Outside, nice stylings. Inside, huge improvement. Doesn't seem dated anymore as 05 did. Seats are more comfortable. Steering column and seat placement make for good(better) driving posture. We have two Britax in the back and plenty of leg room for driver, passenger and two boys to kick the seats. I'm very satisfied.
I love it
This is my 4th Jeep Grand Cherokee and my 3rd Limited. I love them. I have bought other cars and suvs in between, but I always end up wanting a Jeep again. They are well built, nice looking and a great ride. I won't buy anything else again.
