Nine years with this vehicle and it has surpassed my expectations. Very reliable and capable. Solidly built - still has that same tight feel as when it was new.

I bought my 95 Trooper new, base model, 5spd, air conditioning only option. No major problems, after 90000 miles. Oil, tires, battery, spark plugs, timing belt.

Since August 1995 I've had a good luck with this vehicle. It handles very well in the snow and off road. As far as Highway and City driving, it's a load. I use my Trooper primarily in the Winter and to tow a utility trailer. It sits most of the Spring/Summer/Fall So far, the only thing I've replaced (currently at 79000 miles) is the front and rear brakes (rotors and pads). Muffler and flex pipe (lots of salt up here in MA). It does burn about a quart of oil every 3000 miles. It's done this from day one. Never did worry about it seeing I change it every 3000 miles anyway. I hope to get another 80000 miles from it!

Other than a starter I replaced and transmission (covered under warranty- odd ball problem) this truck has been trouble free for 150,000 miles. This model year had issues with valve cover oil leaks, but that does not detract from its' comfort, utility, and overall reliability. Unfortunately Isuzu like many others opted for 2.5mph bumpers, now the truck is a total loss from a low speed collision. I'd still get another though. Vastly better in quality than the Rodeo.

Owned it since new. Just normal maintenance except for having to replace the starter and the rockers and rocker shafts at 101,000 miles ($1500 in parts). They have supposedly fixed the rocker problem by using harder metals. (This is not a problem with the DOHC engines.) Still, I feel the vehicle has been a great value! I have 141,000 miles on it now. The State required emissions test shows that it has the exhaust emissions of a new vehicle. I am about to let my second son start driving it. I’ll miss it.
