Couldn't love my '23 Santa Fe Calligraphy more!
I purchased my 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy in mid December 2022. I bargained the dealer down to "only" about $2,000 over msrp. (They originally wanted $12,000 over!). Even at that price it's definitely a bargain over any other luxury SUVs I've been exposed to. This car has virtually EVERY feature offered on much higher priced SUVs. Every driver assistance short of autonomous driving. Top of the line navigation, even (in HD radio areas) gas prices and doppler radar. Great customizable dash. Part of driver's pod changes to blind spot view when turn signals are used. I also highly recommend the upgrade to Calligraphy trim which gives you the higher hp 2.5 4 cillinder turbo. The non turbo seems very underpowered for this sized SUV. The turbo is great. Set fantastic adaptive cruise at 89 mph (Utah) and even on the steepest hills did not go down even 1 mph. The 8 gear transmission makes acceleration from 60 to 80 for passing crazy fast. The adaptive cruise will take it to a complete stop and then go back up to set speed. Heads up display is perfect. Seems to float out over the hood. Shows speed, cruise set speed, next navigation turn & distance, lane assist indicator, even flashes the song being played on the media player. Top of the line sound system. Every type of media input. Heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats. Gigantic panoramic sun/moon roof. It can be parked or pulled out of a std parking space (non parallel parking) from the key fob. Really neet and impressive, but not really too useful. Rear door opens automatically after standing behind it for about 5 seconds. However, I have turned that feature off because it does so when not wanted. It will try and pin you against a wall! Unbeatable warranty. Can choose to auto stop/start engine and can have the break automatically hold a stop without keeping it pressed until the accelerator is pressed. All windows auto down, up. Great cameras, including the "birds eye" view. LOVE THIS CAR!!! Now, after 6 months of ownership, I only have a few quibbles... They should absolutely forget the dual-clutch transmission! NOT needed for this car! Unless you use the "Auto Hold" feature, it will roll back into following traffic after you start up on a hill between when you release the brake and step on the accelerator. Better be quick, or engage the Auto Hold feature each time you get in the car. Its like being in neutral until you press the accelerator. The auto stop/start is also very annoying. For a split second, every time you press the accelerator after a stop, you're not sure if you are going to be stranded in front of traffic. I, and MANY other drivers push the button to turn it off each time we start the car. It defaults to "On". Also be aware, there is no spare, just a can of "Fix a Flat"!! BUT, after saying all that, I still LOVE everything else about the car!!!! Best car for my wife and me I have ever owned. Hyundai.... just fix 2-3 things and it will be perfect!!!

Vibration Issues 2023 Santa fe limited ultimate
The only reason I gave this review a one star is that I am totally disappointed with the horrible vibration issues....I'm the 1 month owner of this 2023 vehicle and I have been back to the dealer 4 times....they have replaced tires..another front end alignment...another balancing of tires. .and test drove another brand new one...and still had the same vibration Issues....it is even worse for anyone sitting in the rear of the vehicle.....otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.. ..beautiful interior....very luxurious interior and exterior...but the horrible vibration cancels out all the great review of this beautiful vehicle...

Absolutely love it!
I had my heart set on a Subaru Outback and after much research and a test drive, I determined that I should probably have a look around at other options. Hyundai is not a brand I'm familiar with, I have driven Volkswagens my entire life. I took a chance and headed over to a dealership to check out a 2023 Santa Fe SEL. After test driving and seeing that it had all the same amenities as the Outback, minus a sunroof which is no big deal, I discovered it had a better warranty and was much more affordable for me. The ride was so smooth and the steering felt sturdy and solid. It ended up being the perfect size for me, I don't have any kids or dogs, I just wanted something comfortable for my daily commute. The navigation, wireless phone charging and remote start was a pleasant surprise as well as the standard sound system which ain't half bad. I am thrilled with my purchase!

UPDATE: Still all that. It’s all that plus some
UPDATE: My original review from a couple weeks after I bought this from 14 months ago is below. Pretty much everything I said then holds now. This is a great vehicle! At this point, the bloom has not faded from the rose and I'm happy that I bought it. It still gets okay gas mileage. Up to 28 mpg on the highway and around 22 mpg around town. I only have 10,000 miles on it and most of those are in town driving. I have noticed that it is not quite as quiet as I had hoped and there is some road/tire noise that intrudes and makes an almost very low booming noise. Much quieter than my previous Santa Fe though and not too intrusive, but it's there. I read about new cars all the time and saw that the new, 2025 BMW X5 with a 6 cylinder with much more power gets the same or better gas mileage than my Santa Fe. Hyundai needs to figure out what those magicians from Munich are doing and step up their game! It is still a very comfortable ride and quick when you want it to be. And I appreciate the tight turning radius too. It makes it seem smaller than it is. I've had zero mechanical problems with it and one oil change at no charge from the dealer to date. Storage around the driver is lacking a bit, especially compared to my previous Santa Fe. The storage bins on the doors are too narrow and shallow, and the bottle holder is placed back and in an awkward spot that does not readily come to hand. I don't find the good-sized cubby beneath the center console arch that useful. It is out of sight and hard to reach for a short, old fat guy. It is a nice place to have your charging wires plugged in, but other than that, mostly what ends up down there are old napkins and receipts. My previous Santa Fe model had a nice sized cubby up top where the console met the dash and was a perfect repository for all sorts of junk. I actually loved having it right there so I could see and find stuff. As mentioned in my original review below, this model does not have a built-in sunglass holder. I found a nice, clip-on holder that works well, but in Dallas, a sunglass holder is a must! I also still am not that impressed with the center console storage space. It is very similar to my old Santa Fe and many other vehicles, but it is narrower and as deep or deeper. So, you can still get a lot of stuff down there, just not as much as the previous model. My fiancé loves the little built-in shelf above the glove box. It's the perfect place to put your cell phone. Overall, though, the interior is a very comfortable and nice place to be, and I would buy this vehicle again. It is quick, roomy, comfortable and gets decent gas mileage and to date has had no mechanical issues whatsoever. And the tech and cameras are more/better than most. I just sold my 2013 Santa Fe Turbo 2.0 and bought a red Santa Fe Limited. I love this vehicle. I’ve only had it for two weeks, so these are only my first impressions. I’ll start with the negative as there aren’t many. There’s no sunglasses holder. My 2013 had a purpose made little holder above the rear view mirror. Loved it! Just pushed it a little and it would open and shaped just perfectly for sunglasses. The 2023 has nothing. As a matter of fact, the storage bin between the seats is smaller than my 2013’s and my sunglasses have to sit diagonally in the little top removable shelf. The bin below is also smaller than my 2013’s, but certainly spacious enough for most of your junk. The wireless charger doesn’t work. And my phone won’t sit in it straight up and down either. This could be a one off and I’m going back to the dealer when I get time, but my sales rep did tell me that it was an issue. So we shall see. The good news is that there is a storage space under the console due to the push button shifter which not only is fairly large, it has power outlets. So I have my charging cord plugged in down there and I can snake the wire up to the console area and charge my phone the old fashioned way. Speaking of storage, due to the design there’s just less of it than in my 2013 around the driver. I loved the design of my 2013 and all the storage cubbies and placement of them. This 2023 only has the between the seats bin and the good sized cubby under the console. However, there is a very nice feature on the passengers side. There’s a shelf built in across the top of the glove box. It’s partially recessed with a lip and a rubberized top and it’s just perfect for my fiancés cell phone and other little stuff. The only other disappointment is the standard stereo on the Limited. It’s better than the one on my 2013, but not by much. I was hoping for a much more immersive sound and I keep tinkering with it to try to get the sound quality I’m looking for (should I say listening for 🤔). The stereo is good but seems to be somewhat lacking. Maybe I’ll get it tuned better later on. And that’s it for the negatives! This is really one heck of a ride and so far I’m blown away by it. I’m a short, 5’6”, older (68) fat guy. I chose the 2013 in large part because the seats were so comfortable. Fast forward ten years and I’m probably a little shorter and definitely fatter. This vehicle is extremely comfortable for my size and fits me perfectly. It accommodates my fat butt and is a joy to sit in. So if you’re short and fat, this is a winner. I specifically wanted the turbo and my oh my, it is quick. Much more powerful than my 2013 2.0 turbo, but with about the same horsepower. This has more torque and pushes you back into your seat. It can fly! And when you dial it in to sport mode, it completely changes the personality of the vehicle and it reacts much more quickly and the steering tightens up and it’s a hoot to drive. 👍😎. Haven’t even used the paddle shifters yet, but they’re there. So far, on my one short one hour highway trip, so two hour round trip, I got 28 mpg! That’s better than the 2013 by 2 or 3 mpg with the extra power. Around town (Dallas), l’m getting 24 mpg. So far, so good! I’m still trying to get used to all the tech, and this has just about everything. The adaptive cruise control works great as does the lane assist. The lane assist is not too intrusive but is occasionally annoying, but I can turn it off if I want to. I love the blind spot camera views on the dash when you turn on the turn signals. What a great feature. Also love the blind spot monitoring and the cross traffic monitoring with the mitigation feature. It beeps and will brake if a car is coming. There’s a lot of beeps and tugs on the wheel and camera views popping up, but I’ll get used to them. I’m counting on this to save my fat butt as least once with all these bells and whistles as I get older 😉. So there you have it for now. I’m sure I will update this at some point. But if you’re in the market, I highly recommend the turbo version of the Santa Fe. It’s fast, drives like a dream, is supremely comfortable and gets really good gas mileage considering the power. It’s mainly just me 90% of the time or me and my fiancé. We wanted something fast and somewhat sporty (okay, I did, she couldn’t care less), but also some utility for weekend Home Depot runs and loading up for vacations. Roxy (did I mention I named her Roxy?), fits the bill. She’s really, really, really a nice ride. I’m counting on her to get me to my dotage 😉 when they take the keys away from me. Put it on your short list. I think you’ll be impressed.

Amazing, but wait!
Here's my promise to all of those looking for a brand new 2023 Santa Fe, I will speak truth, the full truth and nothing but the truth. I am just a normal guy and wish I would have read the review I am about to post before I purchased this vehicle. The good...I fell in love with this vehicle the moment I took it for a test drive. The engine and transmission work great together. No high revs before shifting and amazingly quiet. Gets up and down the road, including onto the highway great. The ride is comfy, gets me sitting up high, gets great gas mileage (averaging above the 25/28 advertised since owned...28.3mpg to be exact and have gotten 31 on some trips) and top safety pick+, which is huge, with great safety features. Has enough electronics to be cool, but not so many you can't figure out what in the world is going on. All-in-all, the test drive was true to how the vehicle actually drives. The not-so-good (there isn't anything REAL awful about the vehicle, just stuff to be aware of)...Apple Car Play SUCKS! Huge lag. Tried driving in Atlanta and was several blocks behind. I would make a turn and it didn't even recognize I made the turn for 5 or more seconds. Completely useless and misleading when driving. I had to disconnect from the vehicle and look at it directly on my phone. This happens every time I connect Apple Car Play to the vehicle, so not a one-time thing. I discussed this with a Hyundai Service Rep and he said Hyundai is aware of the problem and working with Apple to resolve. As I am sure you can imagine, Hyundai isn't Apple's priority so who knows when/if this will be resolved. Shocked in 2023 this is even an issue. For me, this is a huge deal since I do a lot of traveling to unfamiliar places and rely on Apple CarPlay. In all honesty, wouldn't have bought the vehicle had I known this was an issue. In fact it would seem from a legal standpoint they shouldn't advertise it if it knowingly doesn't work right??? Second, the entire touchscreen is slow to respond and at times you have to push the function you want several times before it recognizes what you want it to do. Third, and maybe this is nitpicky, you can't pick the windshield wipers up off the window when washing the vehicle or changing the wiper blades because of how they sit under the hood. I asked the same Hyundai rep about this and he said you have to turn the car on, turn the wipers on and then quickly shut the car off when the wipers are in the up position. Is it just me or does something about that seem off??? Lastly, be aware of the very little storage there is. There are two cupholders, but besides the center console, nothing else. This is my fault since I overlooked it while driving, so I won't fault Hyundai on it, just something to think about. There you have it, my honest opinion on the car. Once again, just wish I had this information prior to purchasing and likely would have swayed me in another direction.

We love our new ride!!!!!
Our first look at this beauty was amazing. We thought she was really pretty and had all the bells and whistles we could ever want. We had a few things on our Rav4 that this car did not have but with all the other things this car did have, it was definitely a go for us!!! The best thing for me is the heated seats and steering wheel. When our sales agent showed us the car moving back and forth by itself, I about lost it!!!! Amazed beyond words!!! This car is so comfortable, it rides so smoothly. Easy to drive, safety features with the cameras are excellent. LOVE the hologram in front of the driver on the windshield for speed is excellent. Love the roof open at night to see the sky - this car is just what we needed!!!!

Everything you need at a great price.
I traded in my 2018 Santa Fe Ultimate for a 2023 Calligraphy. I looked into the Palisade and the genesis GV70. But I saw the same features from those vehicles in the Santa Fe and a lot less money!!!!!! I love the exterior. Its modern but not over the tip with weird cuts/lines like the Tucson. I think the Santa Fe stands out enough and 5 years from now will still look relevant. I also loved that there is no major use of piano (gloss) black plastic outside or inside. The interior is also modern and very comfortable. I love that they still have dials/buttons. Unlike to other reviews on here, I do not find any lag when using the touch screen. I actually think it works great. It is very user friendly and there is a ton of ways to customize your car. Making your driving experience great. The engine is also amazing. My 2018 took a few seconds to accelerate when I would put the peddle to the metal....not the case here. My 2023 gives me the power I need when I ask for it. Overall, I find that the Santa Fe Calligraphy really gives you a ton of bang for your buck. Especially when you start to compare it to other brands. I see that the 2024 Santa Fe is going for a boxier Range Rover / Bronco type of look. Not my style. So glad I got this now and I am set for a long while. UPDATE: 10/14/2024 Its been 2 years and have 25K Miles, and I am still in love with my 2023 Santa Fe. The drive is still quiet and smooth. I love the power my engine delivers. Seats are comfortable for long trips.

Love my new 2023 White AWD Santa Fe Calligraphy!
Great SUV for those who want something more than a Honda CRV but don't want the size of the Pilot. While the Honda Passport competes with the Santa Fe, the warranty, safety features, and luxury features just can't compete with Hyundai. For those loyal to Honda, you should consider a Hyundai or Kia product. Love my Santa Fe and I can't believe the power of the vehicle and it runs on 87 octane fuel. Great features like the blind view monitoring, remote parking assist, and premium suede headliner, 3 years of maintenance, and great 5/60 bumper to bumper warranty are nothing to sneeze at. UPDATE: December 2022: I sold my 22 Santa Fe Calligraphy FWD because I wanted the AWD version for smoother performance, and I like the AWD version even more than the 22 FWD version I bought at the end of April this year. The gas mileage is about 1 MPG less in the AWD version and the performance is much smoother as this SUV has a lot of torque and moves very quickly on the highway in terms of its lateral acceleration. You can go from 65 MPH to 85 MPH very quickly. Also, it runs on regular 87 octane fuel and my last three all highway driving has gotten me an average MPG of 30.3, 30.2 and 29.8 all running off regular 87 fuel my Costco. This is better than the EPA estimates on the Monroney label and it's all highway mileage but that is still very good for a non-hybrid, mid-size SUV. I encourage anyone considering a Honda Passport or Hyundai Sorento to consider the Santa Fe Calligraphy AWD. Great vehicle and it has all the safety features and creature comforts in the top trim level.

Only modern vehicle with a soft suspension.
Edmunds experts are brainless. They put marks against this car for being overly soft in the suspension, when that is what makes this a rare gem. This rides like an old Buick. THE ONLY soft ride you can find anymore. Shame that gearhead fools like Edmunds testers are so brainwashed by "vroom-vroom" and track cars that they don't realize how refreshing a soft ride is for those of us who commute.

Santa Fe Hybrid Limited 1.6 Turbo HEV
This vehicle is such great value, drives smooth, quiet and has plenty of pick up when needed, the Limited trim is packed with features that are usually found in luxury brands. The blind spot cameras for the turn signals is just genius, along with the full size pano roof, heat and cooled seats with memory for the driver, heated in the back. The park assistance from the key fob is also a useful feature. If you don't need a third row, then this is the best mid size hybrid suv available, plus the five year warranty is the best out there. Highly recommend the Limited Hybrid.

2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL - Water drainage normal?
I have a whopping 400 miles on my Santa Fe SEL Premium. So far, it meets all of my expectations, which isn't hard since I my last SUV was a 20 year old Tahoe that was totaled by another car in an accident not related to me - it was in perfect condition too. I wasn't happy about downsizing and having another car payment, but the Santa Fe has been great especially with all of the safety features. I noticed after hosing the car down to get yellow spring pollen off, that there was water leakage coming from inside all the doors leaking onto the plastic at the very bottom of the door. It happened after a rain a few days later. Right were the metal meets the plastic, there are three small squared holes in the metalI on all the doors. This is where the water drains out onto the plastic. I went back to the sales person and he said they all did that and it was normal - even his own Santa Fe does the same thing. I have been driving and owning cars for 56 years and I have never seen a car do this. Every time I rinse the car off or it rains, I am out there drying the water from the interior of all four doors at the very bottom and the door jams. It looks like it comes in from the molding - not a secure fit, maybe? I don't know if I'm being a handed a line or what. If I had known this was going to happen and I would be soaking up the water after every wash or rain, I never would have chosen to buy this vehicle. Otherwise, it has been a great ride. Anyone have a similar issue with the 2023 or can explain this unwanted feature?

Test Drive Review from long-time Santa Fe Owner &
Update: After a lot of research & test driving several similar vehicles - including another Calligraphy - I bought a 23 Calligraphy. The lag I experienced in the earlier test drive was not evident at all this time. It's fun to drive, comfortable and performs well. I had narrowed down to Nissan Murano, Mercedes 35O, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Calligraphy checked all the boxes and then some. The touch screen is not instantaneous, but I've never seen one that was. It has just enough analog for me to 'feel' what I need vs. taking my eyes off the road to look for a button. Funny enough, one of the things I like is the 'metal' trim. Yes, it's cheap plastic - but it does NOT show fingerprints! All the others are shiny black plastic and every print shows. The AC is positively arctic! Along the Gulf Coast that is critical. I got the 'tan' interior and love it. I'm not a small person and the seats are very comfortable and supportive. Both KIA Soul & Sorento felt like sitting on a board. I have Android, not Apple and it's a wired connection (not wireless in the Calligraphy) perhaps that is why it seems faster to me than other wireless models. I have my Pandora on my phone and it connects very quickly in the Media mode. . The Turbo is fantastic, especially when merging into the freeway. Plenty of room for coworkers in the back seat when we go out to lunch. The safety features are great - I have some minor mobility issues when turning my head and the rear camera's, warning light in the side view mirrors and the orange lights in the heads up display are so perfect for me. I'm more confident merging and changing lanes now. I turn off the feature that shuts the engine off at a stop light. Traffic on the freeway is stop and go on the way to work every day and with that feature on, the poor car was confused! It turned off when a second later I was creeping up. I could feel that in the engine. Turning off that feature solves the issue. The dealership makes a huge difference too. I went 18 miles away to get mine. I was treated well and spent time negotiating. They asked for a significant amount over MSRP,, but with my trade in (I knew what I needed & was able to get more because I was ready to walk out) and asking for Loyalty Bucks, and buying at the end of the month - I paid just slightly less than MSRP. I also had a decent down payment & paid TTL so that wasn't financed, and I let them make an offer on my 2007 trade in do i could ask for more on that later. When the pricing wasn't quite working out, I said if they gave me more for my trade in, I would do the deal. They did and I got what I planned on paying. I am very happy with my car - I even got the color I wanted & literally bought the one off the showroom floor. I have a 2007 Santa Fe Limited. I bought it new and am still driving it, but it's time to get a new one. I turned to Hyundai because of my experience with mine and after some comparing of my own, it appeared The Calligraphy is the one to buy. I was underwhelmed on the test drive. The engine didn't seem much more responsive than my 2007, and the touch screen is slow. (We also have a more recent Honda Odessey which we equipped for handicapped use - so I AM comfortable with current technology) The blind spot cameras on the Calligraphy - which I was really looking forward to - are useless to me because the images are so small, and I was not confident they were catching everything anyway. The transmission with the paddles - I'm not sure what value those have for everyday driving. I drove a manual transmission for years - I went to an automatic because I didn't want to keep shifting! This seems to 'drag' the engine when in stop-n-go freeway crawling, and when it does shift it is very noticeable. 90% of my drive is the freeway-crawl & even when I changed the drive type (Comfort / Sport) the transmission was noticeable. I was hopeful the 2.5 Turbo would solve the slower acceleration of my old car. It did - but not smoothly. I will test another to see if I find the same issues, or if perhaps the one I tried was having unique issues. I love the 2-tone interior and the leather is beautiful. I am heartbroken about it because of all the small & mid-size SUV's I've seen the Santa Fe Calligraphy is the most comfortable and appealing. The Palisade is too big, and the other Santa Fe models are smaller than the Calligraphy. I am ready to buy a new SUV. The color I want is "in transit" so I decided to check some reviews before I do - especially as this will be my last vehicle. I'm glad I did.

Car did not last 48 hours
Hyundai 2023 Santa Fe Limited AWD. Picked up car at dealership on Sunday and by Tuesday morning it was undriveable and back at dealership. Transmission problems. Either engine would rev and not move at stop light or it would be stuck in first gear. Tried different drive modes and turning car ON/OFF. Like a computer reboot!! One of the first questions from the maintenance manager is whether I did a reboot?! Are you for serious Hyundai!

2023 Santa Fe SEL
I am 69 years old and between my personal and company cars have probably owned over 60 new cars in my lifetime. In the last six years I have bought and flipped for new Toyotas and recently purchased a new RAV4 hybrid for my fiancé. To that end, I have probably experienced more vehicles than the average person. This car is exceptional. I would rated a supreme value and I prefer it over the last two Toyotas I’ve owned which were SUVs the handling and suspension is reported to be soft but I find the McPherson struts very compliant and responsive the warranties are unbelievable the design is crisp , it’s going to end up being possibly one of my five favorite cars in my lifetime. I don’t believe Hyundai sorts their early models out as well as Toyota and Honda. Do they seem to come out with new models that suffer for the first two or three years until they work the bugs out , I intentionally wanted this 2023 because it’s the last of a developed design before it changes. I have not been disappointed if Hyundai and Kia can maintain this type of growth I expect them to be on par or very close to par with Toyota in sales within the next decade . They will need better testing and R&D to accomplish this, but I believe they are aware of it.

Hyndai 2023 XRT has issues starting
Hmmm, when my car rolled around 2500 miles there a was a loud "BOOM" and I smelt sulfur.... okay no red lights..no warning lights... then it quit starting.... had it worked on twice.... still won't start. I have 50 plus videos of going to start my car and nothing.... it will eventually start..... but I spend $37,000 for a car, and I deal with this!?!?!? Hyundai won't do a buy it back....if I trade for same year same model they want 8,000$ more..... are you kidding!?!? Never buy from TOM Dinsdale. They will for sure rip you off. I love the style but what good does that do? I'm at my wits end. For 5 days it started and I was excited then I got my first oil change and boom..... wouldn't start. I REGRET BUYING THIS CAR! I should have kept my 2020 sante fe. I loved it but I was really rushed into this one, I was just wanting to see an XRT.....I am so angry and we all know who the big loser will be....:

Gateway to the future
Not much to say for the short time I am driving this car. It is beyond my expectations. Excellent 👍
Best two row SUV for the money
I wanted a mid size two row AWD SUV with the newer technology and traded my trusty 4Runner. There’s lots to like about my first Hyundai and some niggling things I’ll mention. It has the exact same exterior dimensions as my 4Runner, but it has more room in both the front and rear seats so they fit my 6’ 2” better. The seats are more comfortable, it has more power, the handling is better, I’m getting 40% better mpg on regular and the cargo capacity is the same. I’m enjoying all the technology, especially the adaptive cruise with stop and go, the blind spot cameras and warning, the lane keeping assist, and the HUD. After 5 months and 5k miles I haven’t had anything go wrong and the mpg amazingly matches the window sticker with plenty of power. The dual clutch transmission is very buttery when I’m moving and contributes towards the good mpg, but it’s sometimes a little jerky from a stop. To me that’s a reasonable trade off. I’ve gotten used to the start/stop feature, which I didn’t think I would, since the car is so smooth and starts up immediately, but I can turn it off with a simple push of a button if it bothers me. I like the quietness and the way it drives - smooth and comfortable with plenty of instant power on tap, but holds the road well. This is my 5th turbo car and I’ve never had any trouble. All the storage under the cargo floor is super. My phone doesn’t work with the wireless charger because I have too thick of an otter box protecter, but I like the vertical holder as the phone is out of the way. I prefer that there is not wireless connection for Apple play because I like the navigation that comes with the car. It has all the traffic info, much easier to use interim stops, and the HUD and center display shows me when and where to turn which it wouldn’t do with Apple play. If I want Apple play I use one cord to plug in the phone. Otherwise I use the other plug to charge up my phone. BTW I’ve already received at least one over the air update to my nav. It shuts down the nav for about 20 minutes while it updates, which it can do with the car on or off. As to the negatives. AWD cars do not come with a spare. It has that worthless can of goop. The dealer installed the cable carrier underneath and rubber cinch brackets (as part of buying the car) and I bought a third party spare and lug wrench/jack for $275. Problem fixed. The car does not have an eyeglass holder and there’s a bit much hard plastic, but it’s in mostly innocuous places. The Harmon Kardon stereo is just ok. It should be better for a premium stereo. I like all the controls on the steering wheel and the button controls on the stack. Many cars are putting too many controls on the computer screen so you have a choice of driving or messing with the computer. You might as well be texting. I like the electronic gear shifter. Some people prefer the old gear shift handle, but it takes up a lot of useful real estate and obviates the storage space underneath. There are many other features I like such as the hands free hatch opener, the blue link start, pre air condition and fuel monitoring, the heated and ventilated seats, the heated steering wheel, etc, etc. I like the car better than my wife’s X5 which is 5” longer and 2” wider. Her back seat is much tighter and harder to get into and the turning radius is much larger. I have pretty much all the features she has, but at half the cost, 1/4th the maintenance and repair costs, much less depreciation, better reliability, and a much better warranty. A few last notes - the 2021 through 2023 Santa Fe’s are virtually identical so you can get any one of those years and you get the same car. I much prefer my 2023 Santa Fe over the 2024. I don’t like style of the 2024, the lack of buttons, the bigger size, the third row and the bigger price tag, but it has the exact same drivetrain. It’s getting harder to find a mid size two row SUV. You either get a smaller SUV like a RAV4 or Tucson or you get a larger three row SUV. UPDATE: It has 12k miles and has been flawless. I traded a 4Runner and never looked back. As an older handicapped person I wanted the safety equipment and technology and this car has it all. I use the steering wheel controls, the HUD, and adaptive cruise the most. It took me awhile to be comfortable with the stop and go function, with me hovering my foot above the brake, but it works very well and now I just let the car do its thing so I can relax. I much prefer the physical buttons and I like the vertical slot to hold my cell phone. A lot of cars are putting most controls on the computer screen. The car even reminds me if I leave the phone when I get out. It has good room in the front and back seats, with plenty of room to get my feet in, and I’m 6’ 1”. I much prefer a bench seat and the 9 year old great nephew slept on it comfortably for a trip where the car got 28 mpg with the cruise set at 75 mph. The car is quite fast when I need it and it’s very comfortable and quiet. The handling is just right for me. It’s not a sports car, but it handles pretty well when needed. I really don’t have any complaints. Well, maybe two small ones. Why it doesn’t have a compartment overhead for my sunglasses is beyond me. I have to put them in the storage slot above the glove box. It didn’t come with a spare so I had to buy one on line and the dealer installed the cable holder underneath the car, which they had to do before I’d buy the car. A car without a spare? Until they invent flying cars a spare is going to be needed.

Best of what you get for the money
I had a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL that was problem free for 3 years, gave it to a family member, decided to try a Tucson Limited. Had it for 3 months, nice enough car but I feel it had too many extreme features on it that might go wrong and some already did (less than 3k miles). I traded it for a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL and I love it. It's got the space, the reliability, plenty of safety, conveniences, storage, space and is comfortable. I am getting decent gas mileage (32mpg on the highway) for the size of the vehicle and it's brand new. I looked into a Honda CRV, and a Toyota Rav 4, they are still putting ridiculous "Dealer Fees/mark-ups" above MSRP on those and they have issues/problems/recalls of their own.I know they are changing up the Santa Fe design next year but I wanted this one because I'm familiar with this current design and know from my previous Santa Fe that it works great for me. I'm afraid that newer designed cars haven't worked out all the kinks yet. I shopped around but ended up going back to a similar Santa Fe like I had before because it is the best deal for the price, great incentives as well. Also, I like the way it drives and like the size. Some people complain about the acceleration on the base engine not being intense enough, but I think it has plenty of acceleration and better reliability than the Dual Clutch Transmission. I'm not taking it to a racetrack , I'm going to run errands, various appointments, driving from point A to B safely. It has plenty of power to get across a road or merge/pass on the freeway. It will cruise at higher speeds effortlessly. I love my Santa Fe, I do not regret my decision.

A smooth, quiet and efficient hybrid SUV
So far I am enjoying the features of this vehicle, the technology and safety features are great. I waited for a Limited version to become available and glad I did as it has some additional features over the SEL Convenience, like memory driver seat and folding mirrors, also love the turn signal blind spot cameras, such a great feature and pano roof, I also like the projector led headlights over the standard reflectors. As for how it compares against the competition, well its kind of in its own category as it is a mid-sized hybrid SUV. I looked at CRV, Rav 4 and the Toyota Venza, which all had too small of a cargo area for my dog. The Highlander which was too big and I didn't need a 3rd row. Loved The Lexus RX, but had too much of a sloping rear tailgate and was pricey. My previous vehicle was a Subaru Outback, which I loved and was a great all round work horse but I wanted a hybrid for mostly around town driving that I do. The Santa Fe hybrid fitted my needs, so I took a test drive of a gas version and loved the features and smoothness of the ride. No regrets and enjoying the suv, and along with the 5 year warranty for reassurance, I feel I made the right choice. UPDATE: Had the Santa Fe, for 18 months and have just over 11k miles that have been trouble free, I still love the versatility of this vehicle and have done a few road trips but mostly used for local driving, averaging 34mpg and 29 on the highway at 75mph. I don't like the new generation Santa Fe, the boxy design is not for me so I'll probably keep mine for now as I see no reason to change it. It's a great vehicle.

Hate my Santa Fe Unfortunately :/
I’ve been a huge Hyundai fan for years, even turning my family and friends onto their vehicles. I had a 2013 Elantra, a 2018 Kona, and now a Santa Fe after having a baby. This is the first car I’ve hated. First off, the storage in the front seat is a joke. Why would I have my phone plugged in to use CarPlay while ALSO wirelessly charging it? That’s how you ruin your phone battery really quick. I disengaged the wireless charging feature, but it’s still a useless phone holder because my phone gets stuck in it! I don’t even have a bulky case! So where am I supposed to put my phone? It doesn’t fit in the cup holders, so the only place is the black hole of under the bridge. It’s a nightmare. Anything you put in there is gone since there is NO visibility and at such an odd angle to reach! That’s the only storage for the driver! Nowhere to keep chapstick or anything unless you want to go fishing while driving. Dangerous! The BlueLink app stuff rarely works. The remote start worked 4 out of the last 20 requests. And even when it does work, it shuts off after a couple of minutes (instead of the set 10 minutes). Parents! Keep in mind that there are no back seat vents except two TINY ones on the back of the center console. I have a running list of issues and glitches that happen in this car. Usually about 3 a week. The car SLAMS on the brakes for NO reason about once a month. I’m talking about when there are no cars or no cars even remotely close! And it almost got me in two accidents within the first couple of months of owning because it tries so hard to drive for you. I now have the lane assist disengaged, even though that was one of my favorite features in my Kona. The keyless entry is a joke. I’m constantly standing outside of my locked car pulling the handle dozens of times with no response. I’ve been locked out of my car 2x in 4 months in the pouring rain with a newborn. I WISH that was a joke or exaggeration. I find myself not even locking the dang car because I can’t get it to lock. My Kona had a button on the handle to lock/unlock, which was one of my favorite features! This just has a sensor that NEVER works. I could go on and on. I’m getting rid of this mistake of a purchase ASAP. There are a couple of pros to the vehicle though. Our SEL AWD handles great in snow. And the drive assist and cruise control works well, even if there is a steep learning curve.
Luxury
Everything you could want in a car, it has. It’s affordable and fits our needs.

Nice car but actual front leg room less than specs
Love almost everything about this car, but the reported 44 inches of front legroom isn’t really there unless you put your feet under the brake pedal! I’m 6’4” and thought that with the reported 44 inches, there would be plenty of legroom, but I’m finding that it’s not there, no matter how I adjust the seat. My wife’s Cadillac XT5 with a reported 41” has more room. Seats, ride and tech are great, very fast and quiet.

Very Nice
Very nice vehicle with lots of amenities. I'm 6'4", 250 lbs and 84 years old and had a hard time getting in the driver side. Hyundai apparently moved room to back sacrificing room in front.

Santa Fe
An SUV that drives smoothly! It has a lot of nice features without the expensive price tag!
Stutter
I only have around 8000 miles on the car and now there is a stutter when I'm going 30 mph or less at times. Also, some features are more trouble than anything. The main one is that the car almost shuts off at a stop light. Then there is a delay once you push the gas. There is a button to shut off this feature, so I have to hit the button everytime I drive it. Also, auto start came with it which I never use, but the hatch does not have a button in the car nor is there one on the FOB. So now I'm back to lifting and closing the hatch manually, which I hate.
lots of positives but a few misses
I only have a 1200 mile experience....drove a rental from FL to PA. Car was basically new when I rented with only 730 miles. Pros: Quality/upscale interior with classy looking synthetic leather interior. Steering wheel is virtually identical to my CX9. Seats were very comfortable, lots of legroom and very adjustable. Averaged 30mpg on our trip. Quiet and controlled ride with 18 inch wheels and 60 aspect ratio tires. Nice panoramic roof. Storage shelf in front of passenger and more storage under console. Nice HK stereo. Negatives: base engine is grossly underpowered, would never buy with this engine. Door pocket storage is very small. Back of drivers seat is plastic with no storage. While center console is convenient there needs to be a command wheel to go thru changes. Center console armrest is placed too far back....can't rest elbow. Strange digital instrument panel. Only a speedo and tach....no gas gauge....no water temp gauge. You have a number with miles remaining for gas. No water temp info. Speedo and tach are placed off to left and right with trip meter in middle. Constant moving annoying blue line showing gas mileage. Clock is placed on center display. Wheels and tires for comfy ride....not the best for handling. Overall would never consider without the bigger engine but with that extra cost, there are lots of better alternatives including my CX9.

2023 Calligraphy... Just traded this junk at 24k
Let me start by saying we have owned Hyundai vehicles for decades and have convinced many family members and friends to buy Hyundais. We were huge Hyundai fans and bought our 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy because we really liked our 2017 Santa Fe Ultimate. Months after buying our 2023, our 2017 V6 engine seized at 101k after a perfect dealership maintenance history and being babied since new. Lost that car for nearly four months while we waited for a backlog of engine replacements already at the dealership before us. Although Hyundai should be offering a warranty extension on their faulty V6 engines, they only extended coverage on the 4 cyl and offered to cover 80% of repair. Traded in the 2017 soon after getting it back. As far as our 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy: Pros: - Great acceleration AND gas mileage - Beautiful interior with the caramel color "leather" Cons: - Driving on the Massachusetts Turnpike in heavy traffic at about 65 mph with 5,800 miles on the car and the engine began to shake like it was coming apart. Not exaggerating when I say it was violently shaking for 25 miles with a bunch of dash lights on. And during that time we could not get the car over 30 mph. We were heading to Dana Farber hospital for a critical procedure so we just continued on. I figured the car was under warranty and now would be the best time for it to die if it was going to. On the trip home the car seemed to have cured itself, but every four to six thousand miles after that we'd experience a day or so of mild shaking. Dealership kept car for almost a week and couldn't figure out what happened - suspected maybe a faulty fuel injector but no action taken. - The push button gear selector in this car is downright deadly. On random occasions, ours would illuminate the "R" when we hit Reverse, the backup camera would come on, and the car would make the gear selection chime sound. Then when the gas was applied, the car would rev and go nowhere if it was previously in Park. Or, worse, if it was previously in Drive, it would go forward even though every indicator was that the car was in Reverse. Same thing would sometimes happen when going from Reverse to Drive. It was maddening and nearly caused us to hit objects or other cars multiple times. It didn't matter if you were at a dead stop with your foot firmly on the brake as you need to be to switch gears. Dealership could not replicate (not surprised it was random and would only happen a few times a month - but enough to be unbelievably dangerous). - Aside from the engine and gear selector, the car is not engineered well. Bumps and road joints reverberate through the car with a major jolt. Partly our fault for choosing the Calligraphy with the larger rims and shorter sidewall tires, but we felt the lesser models were unattractive with their rim choices and too much black plastic body cladding. The rough ride got tiring fast. Traded this lemon at 24k. We've never kept a car for such a short period of time (and lost so much on a car), but we both hated this car and could not wait to get rid of it. We won't buy another Hyundai or Kia product and regret recommending the brand - I would hate to see a friend or family member go through the aggravation we experienced with both Santa Fes and the dreadful Hyundai Corporate "customer care" reps dealing with our 2017. Think seriously about reliability before buying a new or used Hyundai - all the options and convenience features don't make a darn bit of difference when your car is sitting at the dealership and they don't have a loaner to provide.

Info-tainment not so much
With less than 5000 miles the infotainment center went out. Dealer says it is an issue for them. Back ordered and is on emergency backorder. It has been two months and the dealer can't tell me anything. These cars are made three hours from me and a radio unit isn't available? I am glad it wasnt an engine part. Probably my last Hyundai product.

BEWARE ENGINEERING ISSUES WITH THE SANTA FE
The car itself is beautiful. I've owned it for 8 months and they are replacing the transmission AGAIN. This will be the 3rd transmission in 8 months. Do you think something is wrong with the engineering? I do. They put out vehicles without reliability. I'm AFRAID to get it back.

Engine Light - Multiple Times
I like my Santa Fe 2.5T Calligraphy. Really Nice Car! But…Now for the second time the engine light has come on. Second time. The car is only 1 year old and has 14k miles. Engine Light is a problem. Then, I tried to get my car into Wilson County TN Hyundai. I called today 4/4/2024 and was told that their first appointment was not until 4/26/2024. How about that. I would not buy another Hyundai. Car not dependable and service from dealership beyond terrible. Go somewhere else.

Love this Hyundai!!
Had it for a few months now traded in my 2020 Honda Pilot Ex-L. The Hyundai is far superior in every way!! The tech is better, the ride is better, the cabin is much quieter, much more get up and go!! I bought my daughter a 2023 Elantra as well!! Safe to say I’m sold on Hyundai’s!!

Center console FAIL
The new design of the center console is horrible - it's big and bulky, cup holders are not convenient and the "storage" space underneath just begs for things to roll out and tangle in your feet going around a curve or even a sudden stop. Just sitting in the car I knew it wasn't for me because of this alone.
My new baby.
All of it is awesome. I’m looking forward to learning more about the new tech available now.
This thing is a whale turd
For the love of all that is holy, can someone PLEASE fire the engineers of this whale turd? Who in their right mind thought it was a great idea to put CAMERA SCREENS on the DASHBOARD for lane changes? Let’s teach an entire generation of drivers to look down and focus on a 4” screen instead of keeping your eyes up and on the road. Another special feature was the “lane assist” that literally starts pulling the wheel back towards the lane; super helpful when the car beside you drifts into your lane and you are trying to avoid it. Add that input to the already dead feeling/squishy steering and suspension for a perfecta of suck. Then there was the absolutely horrid dash. I get that engineers always want to do something different, but different isn’t always good. Like the stupid push button shifting…which happens to be located so that anything places in the cup holder or other storage has to be moved to reach it. This car left me with the quiet desperation one feels when you drop a deuce in the bathroom while at a fancy dinner party and it won’t flush. The best thing about this car was that it was a rental. I never have to lay eyes on it again.

So far impressed
Upgraded from our previous 2014 Accord sedan. We looked at Honda CR-V and Hyundai Santa Fe and ultimately went with Santa Fe. Felt like it was roomier and had more power. The interior is high quality and the exterior looks nice as well. Driving is smooth and all of the tech features are amazing (Highway Driving Assistance, lane keep assist, etc). Definitely makes driving more enjoyable.
