I bought my 2017 elantra in 2019 with 29k miles. I didn't know it at the time, but it had been wrecked (hyundai dealership didn't disclose that) slightly in the front (front bumper slightly different color).. The car ran smooth as butter and had been upgraded with all kinds of gizmo's. This car has one flaw, even to this day, "I can't hear it running" when it's at idle. Get's outstanding gas mileage and the ride is smooth on good roads. I can almost go to sleep driving this car! Right now, I have about 72k on it and it rides like it did when I bought it. I believe this is the last car I'll have to buy and if I have to buy another, I'd get a 16,17, or 18 elantra..

2 Years Into Ownership

I purchased my '17 Elantra SE as a Certified Pre-Owned with 50,000mi a little more than 2 yrs ago. I've been very satisfied with the car thus far. I've had to take it in for 2 warrantied repairs, both faulty times Coil Packs were causing an intermittent misfire. Since having them replaced, I've had no issue. Even out of warranty, that would not be an expensive or labor intensive repair, super DIY friendly. AC is currently not blowing very cold but I'm yet to have it checked out, hopefully just needs a recharge, which would make sense being the car has been in service 5 yrs. I would buy this car again, it has treated me well. Pros: Excellent MPG (I always avg 30+mpg). Roomy Interior, good trunk (6'2", 250lbs). Inexpensive Maintenance. Never left me stranded. Excellent Value compared to competitors, thousands less. Drives great for the class. Comfortable seats. Well laid out interior. Good tech/comfort package options available on base model and gets better as trim moves up, you can even get very well optioned SE's for deals like mine. Cons: Engine vibrates/sounds chattery on start up (have been told this is normal for this type/cycle of engine). Factory Coil Packs in all of these cars are junk and need replaced. Takes a while for engine/heat to fully come up to temp in winter. Although not necessarily slow, other vehicles in class can offer much more performance, albeit for more $$$. Car sits low enough to scrape in places you wouldn't expect it to. Radio can't seem to be loud enough driving w/ windows down.

60k miles in 2 years

I drove from CA to NC, totaled about 60k miles and loved this car. While driving 99% of highway (cruise at 65pmh) was able to get up to 49mpg. I thought it was a mistake but was able to confirm it while driving cross country. Bought it used with 30k miles and sold it at 93k miles, I did oil changes every 3 months or 5000 miles and never had a single problem, I'm a mechanic so I service it myself, every service I checked for leaks couldn't find any, beside oil changes I replaced spark plugs at 60k miles and tires at 75k miles, brakes could easily reach 110k miles. This isn't a race car so engine isn't meant to be crazy powerful. Mine was the base model, I installed a Bluetooth and a 8 inch tablet with a basic mount( from amazon) so I could have maps and music looking fancy. Only reason I sold it is because I want a sports car and can't afford 2 car payments. I would highly recommend buy it used with 2 years or under 30k miles and go for the 6 speed automatic, no dual clutch. I will miss this car so much.

Great car -HORRIBLE paint

Peeling paint pissed off owner, 08/29/2022
2017 Hyundai Elantra SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 6A)

I, like thousands of other pearl white hyundai owners have nasty, peeling paint issues that are not corrected or compensated by hyundai. It costs anywhere between $700.00 to $4500.00 to remove and repaint. The alternative is to literally watch it peel then rust. If you fix one spot another pops up. Dealers are worthless when trying to get recourse from hyundai. Research and read the reviews.
