Worst vehicle on the road

Don’t buy this car, seriously don’t, I’ve had more work done to this car than the entire kardashian family, first was the transmission, lost 5th gear. It was whatever at the time because it was under warranty, then the motor goes out 3 months later with a head seal gasket being blown, next to go was the clutch 2 days after the motor came back and the car was fixed, following this was the ecu, so basically new car right ? Wrong, I’m getting ready to put a third motor in this car, because it’s cheaper than buying a new one. And honestly it’s astonishing the amount of work I’ve had done on this car, my local Hyundai dealer is absolutely trash, and the manufacturer of this car is just as bad. Save yourself 13 grand and buy a Honda.

Peppy And Fun But Practical Too

2014 Hyundai Elantra GT 4dr Hatchback w/Blue Interior (2.0L 4cyl 6M)

The 2014 Elantra GT 6-speed base with blue leather interior is difficult to find but has just about everything one could hope for. Leather. Power driver's seat. Tilt/telescope adjustment on the steering wheel. Headlights. An amazing panoramic sunroof. Navigation system with Bluetooth. The driving experience is beyond anything else available in this size class, and I've test-driven them all. The shifting is smooth, the engine is responsive. It does require downshifting to capture necessary passing power, but you're getting a stickshift because you enjoy that...right? The navigation system is so-so. There doesn't seem to be any HD radio capability, which is disappointing in a 2014 that is otherwise fully loaded. And this particular car came without an auto-dimming homelink mirror, and the side mirrors are not auto-dimming either. I forgot how bright headlights can be without auto-dimming mirrors! That's about it for the negatives. The car has amazing disappearing rear seats for a fully-flat fold-down in case of larger cargo. The blue leather is awesome, seat heat is adequate, there are enough cup holders, and most importantly the driving experience is Beyond Awesome (TM). Hyundai really messed up with this car, though -- apparently leather (et. al.) is not available in a stickshift for the 2016 model year. Are you kidding me?

I am leasing this car mostly because of the great deal that I got but more than likely will buy it out at the end of the lease. AWESOME gas mileage, I drive in the ECO mode all the time and consistanly get at least 36 mpg. I drive the speed limit but don't go over, so that make a big difference in the gas mileage. Also I don't 'rabbit' start my car. The interior is roomy and very comfortable. Not a much space as my old 2005 Toyota Matrix but pretty close. LOVE the blue-tooth, I will never go without that option again. Car has plenty of speed and power, will be anxious to see how it does in the snow.

I've had my GT for about 4 months now. At first the car seemed sluggish, but as I put a few miles on (now 4,000 miles) performance is great and MPG equal to the EPA figure. Couple tricks I learned: When in manual, start in 2nd. Only use sport steering mode on windy days. I use sport most of the time and keep it there. I went from a 2000 Grand Prix thinking there was not going to be enough room for 4 adults in comfort. I was wrong. Took a weekend trip with 4 adults and nobody complained about room plus room for all our luggage. Sometimes going uphill, seems to be searching for the right gear, so I switch to manual mode and works better. I've now owned the car going on 3 years. Fuel economy around town is lower than expected, but could be that my trips are short and stopped at many traffic lights for longer than normal. Handling is better than ever and it will not disappoint. Sometimes, when accelerating from slow or stop it can lag, but once going it picks up nicely. I have had no mechanical problems or issues so far. The only thing out of the norm is that the daytime running lights have both needed to be replaced sooner than normal. My last car they lasted over ten years before replacing the same. I still have not had any issues that need to replace tires, belts or brakes. Pleasant surprise. Seats are still comfortable. Still, the only things on my wish list that could be improved are: More power, better stereo, cooled seats, switching the placement of the odometer and tachometer. Otherwise, this car still keeps a smile on my face, especially when I can take her through the twisties where driving is the best.
