Used 2019 Honda Insight Sedan Consumer Reviews
5 years and going strong
We purchased the car new in 2019 and currently have 45,000 miles and have not had one problem. The gas mileage ranges from 55 mpg in summer months to 42 in winter months. It has a comfortable ride, looks great and has been a very reliable car.

Great looking hybrid performance
Purchased the Insight in the Touring trim recently for my wife as she has a long daily commute. Couldn't be happier with our purchase. Averaging 46 mpg thru the 1st 1,000 miles and improving over time as we play with the driving modes and regenerative braking settings. The Touring trim level is worth the money in my opinion as it comes loaded. This is a great looking hybrid sedan(much better looking than a Prius). UPDATE: As of 4/8/2020 Still loving our Insight Touring model. MPG dropped to 40MPG during cold winter months due to use of heater and heated seats(Chicago has really cold winter). But MPG's are starting to climb back up as it's starting to warm up now as we enter Spring. Still highly recommend this car to anyone! Well worth it and much nicer styling over the Prius. 4/8/2023 Update: Now at 62,500 miles. Replaced tires at 55,000 miles last Summer. Still no problems. Cost to own this car has been outstanding. Couldn't be happier.

Very disappointed
Cons -No spare tire. Front passenger seat very low and not adjustable. No left side blind spot detector. (What was Honda thinking?) Pros - Handles well and gets great gas mileage. Owned Priuses from 2002-2018. Switched to the Insight because the seats in the new Prius were really uncomfortable and it was ugly. After owning the Insight for 11 months we traded it in. Very disappointing.Hated the car so much that we got rid of it after a year and bought a Toyota

Should have gotten a Toyota
Very disappointed in this car. i got the touring edition that states it gets 51mpg city and 45highway. Ive tried every trick i could to make it so, but my average on this car is always between 37-38. Also, the car can get really loud sometimes, even when driving at lower speeds. Now, at this time, the radio volume is giving me trouble, it won't get loud. just got the car november 2018. the toyota camry was a little bit more expensive but now i wish i would have spent the extra money. **over a year now and gas mileage hasn’t changed, still average 39mph, doesn’t matter what I do

EXCELLENT but *Missing* Basics. AVOID!!!
Recently, last week, purchased the vehicle. Find it very nice BUT . . . the idiotic decision to NOT have a spare tire made is deplorable!!! Living in a rural/mountainous state, not having a spare tire available is totally undesired. Should a flat ever occur, using the silly spray glue fixer is not possible, especially during the winter months. The Trunk does actually have the place (size & design) for a spare to be placed within *just* STUPIDLY kept empty. I had purchased one, from the dealer, prior to the pick-up. Upon getting the car, discovered that a regular tire does not fit (even the dealer did not know that) - has to be one of temporary wheel replacements. Hence, the tire was filling up the entire Trunk space. Thus, had to purchase one for e-Bay. Specifically made for the Honda Insight but just from another manufacturer. Idiotic to say the least on Honda's side. Also more than disgusted with the lack of having the CD option. I do not care to pay a monthly extra just to listen to music I am not interested in. Will be going forward and trying (hard to locate) a CD player that can used within the vehicle. I went after picking up the car to a Hyundai dealership and the cars there had CD players & REAL spare tires for each model. THUS, I for one, will NOT recommend HONDA if you live anywhere that driving more than five minutes at a time is too short a trip as well as a spot where the roads are not perfect to the Nth degree (in case of a flat). AMEN

Riding the wave with Honda Insight
If you are not a surfer and ever wondered how it will be to surf on the waves. Well, Honda Insight makes you feel like one - a surfer for the roads. With some speed, the Insight feels like you are surfing on the ocean waves - smooth, gentle and exhilarating at times. Check it out for yourself with a test drive, the gadgets are plentiful, and with the Touring trim line you can enjoy the nice summer breeze through the moon roof, and with leather all around, you will enjoy riding it like a powerful horseman. Ah! if you liked role play, and wished to be James Bond with his leading lady, then yes, each time you drive the Honda Insight, you will feel like one. Go for it :)

Avoid this car.
Well, I also bought this car but I will NEVER recommend. Let me explain why. Issues: 1. Traffic Sign Recognition System doesn't work when there is yellow background. 2. Traffic Sign Recognition System may show incorrect and weird values intermittentlym while making turn on the roads. You can drive and check if you have similar issues, in case you also have Honda Insight 2019. Not sure about 2020 or other years. These two issues are critical because you may vary your car speed depending on this system and you may get involved into car incident while on the road. I raised both issues to Kirkland Honda (WA), went there, showed them the issues and pictures with weird values. They initially told me they informed Honda and waiting for it. Later on, after one year, they replied it is limitation. I explained it is not limitation but they should fix it. They didn't bother to help. Eventually I sold it off. If you want more detail, please contact me, I will share the VIN number, my email changes with Kirkland Honda.

Agrivation unlimited
I average 44 mpg. Its often braking for no reason. Hard to get through road construction with the auto correct trying to pull the car into the barrels. Constant auto correct on rural roads. On hills and corners it trys to correct. The dealer and honda says to turn it off. I say if it has to be turned off, they should not have it on the vehicle. I will get rid of it ASAP. My 05 civic was awesome. I would get another if it did not have all of the so called safety features. They are not worth the agrivation.

A hidden surprise
Tired of the Toyota Prius V3. So I looked at the Honda Insight.Although it only came in a sedan, there was more room then expected. and the fuel economy was higher. The safety features are wonderful and keeps the driver alert. I've had the car for 6 months and i'm still finding features i did not use. Love the car and ease to get in and out of.
