I am a proud owner of the 2004 Element EX.I have been looking at this model for about 2 years since it came out. For my life style this is the "Best thing since sliced bread". For people on the go and who like the outdoors there quite possibly could not be a better fit. Some of my friends when I first got the truck said " do you wind it up before you drive it, or can we take it out of the box and drive." That was thier comments before they got in and drove it or simply just got in the back seat and enjoyed the sunroof and acres of leg room. If you are thinking of getting one ,do it. Cheers, your excited Element owner.

I really did not think I would like this vehicle, I was SO wrong. I owned a Lexus previously, and quite frankly was sick of the payment. My Honda Element is so roomy and it is the smartest thing I have done in a long time. The gas mileage is awesome. I truly love it.

I drove the Element/CRV/Rav4 before buying. The Element won out because of its overall roominess; the rear area is cavernous! I love the high ceiling and how the seats move out of the way for carrying large items. Rear Leg is room is great even for tall people. The 10,000 mile (between) oil change engine is great and incredibly quiet. The gas mileage is very good; 24mpg. The 4cyl is plenty powerful, and there is very little body lean in turns. My improvement suggestions would be to have the tilt-wheel rise up higher, have a better center console, and do something about the easily scratched interior plastic. I also didn't like the "dealer" items which should be standard; ie the roof rack.

PURCHASED THE ELEMENT BECAUSE MY WIFE WOULDN'T DRIVE A MINIVAN AND WAS EXPECTING OUR FIRST CHILD IN JULY. CARGO SPACE AND AWD WAS A PLUS. ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT A CHILD WAS UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR OR WINDOW FROM REAR SEAT.

When I first saw this car, I initially hated its appearance. My husband was in love with it from the moment it came out, though. So, when I decided to trade in my old Honda Accord and get an SUV, he convinced me to try it. When I first saw the inside of this car, I fell in love with it. I chose the orange color EX model, and I am getting used to all of the attention I get with it. Other Element owners wave at me on the road, and other people usually stop to ask me how I like it. I love it, that's all I have to say.

Except for ease of entry into the backseat area, the car is perfect. But my parents have trouble getting in the back area because the floor is so high. Other than that, no complaints! Great car!

Overall a great car.We own an 01 Accord and love it.Our family has owned many models and years with very little negative to say about Honda. The Element continues in this tradition. The combination of economy and utility is a great aspect of this car.The back seats can't be fully reclined to latch up inside unless the head rest is removed. This appears to be an oversight since the owners manual and website make no mention of removing head rest. The moonroof needs improvements- with the glass in- it opens a paltry 3-4 inches. When you remove the glass, the optional screen that I purchased isn't supposed to be used when the car is in motion.A power roof like we have on our accord would be great.

I bought the Element because of its versatile interior and waterproof qualities. It drives well for its height, not too much body roll. Wind is not as bad on the highway as you might think. It cruises easily at 75- 80, though the engine revs higher at this speed then some other cars I've driven. I have had 28mpg highway, and average above 20mpg for mixed driving. The plastic panels are easy and relatively cheap to replace if they get scratched or damaged.

Funky. Complete excellent performer in everyway. Tons of room inside. I use vehicle for myself and one other passenger sometimes ONLY. Not a sensible vehicle for two adults (unless real young and or spry) in the BACK seats. I have the right side passenger back seat permanently OUT. Have the automatic and best MPG driving over CHP suggested limits on long trips has been 26. Basically in all around driving get 21 MPG. Buying a drink cooler to plug in back aux and XM radio and leaving for South Dakota soon for trip.

I can't say enough about this car! I'm stopped by people in parking lots asking about my Element. I'm an advertisement on wheels for this car. We purchased the Element to replace one of our 2 Honda CRV's, still love our CRV but the Element suits my business needs better. I am an artist, I sell my work at arts and crafts shows. With the back seats out I can haul all my inventory, my entire display, tent/canopy, chairs, floor mats, rugs, EVERYTHING I need to do a show including my luggage and a friend and their stuff! If it rains and the field gets muddy I know that the 4WD will get me home. The kicking stereo keeps us going and I never have to worry about gas money!

If you are NOT into conventional ideas of status and comfort, the element is fun to drive and the ultimate functional vehicle. We have two elements, and find each is virtually identical in function to a Chevrolet Trailblazer owned by a family member -- yet the two elements (purchase price as well as insurance and license) cost about as much total as the 2003 Trailblazer. The elements have no unecessary electronica and features -- just simple and cost effective transportation. Of course, as they are made by Honda, they don't ever seem to need repairs, either ...

I haven't been this excited about a new car in decades! As word gets out, this car will become the 21st century's Beetle. A sublime mix of functionality and cost. I tote a lot of stuff every day and the suicide doors make loading it so much easier. Contrary to reports, the Element with 5 speed manual is a very peppy car. My wife cringed when I insisted on an Element to replace a '95 Civic. Admittedly, I thought her CR-V was the ideal car for the money, until I got the Element. The Element trumps it at thousands less. Although she won't admit it, she's fallen for it too!

I've always looked at this car and wanted it when I saw it. So I test drove it and it was very roomy, very comfortable, and very good performance. I've had this car for close to a year now and I have no problems at all with this car. Gas mileage is very good considering it's size and four cylinder motor. Everyone I see I have them look inside it and they love it. They say it's full of room and I even let my boss man drive it and he said it has a lot of guts. That was coming from a guy who loves chevy. I've come to love Honda's. They're awesome cars that definitely put the driver in mind for the long haul. And for that I thank the people at Honda for making such a great car.

Finding myself in the market for a vehicle that could comfortably seat four adult males and their gear for week long mountain bike trips, get good gas miliage and cost under $20,000-this was the winner. My other car is a Subaru Forester, which is a great car for my lifestle, but fitting American sized adults in the back seat is a joke. The Honda's exterior looks are still growing on me. It was this reason that caused me to put it at the bottom of my shopping list (behind the Toyota Matrix and others). One test drive quickly showed me that the Element, although shaped like a box on wheels, drove more like an Accord. It was clear that this was going to be a great escape car for me.

I just got it! You either love it or hate it. I love it. It sucks gas! That's the only thing negative I can say about it. They 21 mpg City, Don't think so. It's more like 18. Power is O.K. Drives nice, handles well and still fit's in tight places. It's a cross between a truck, van, and a SUV. I heard it was designed for the younger generation, I'm 40 and I think it's awesome. Lots of room, easy to change the seats around. I use it for work and I don't have to worry about it getting banged up or stuff spilled in it. With it's out side panels, waterproof seat covers & utility floors. If I could, I would have gotten the EX. Oh well, Next time.

We absolutely love it! Our kids where shocked when informed that we bought it. Their one question was, "what was your second choice -- a US Postal truck." But we love the choice. It's solid, reliable, has good pickup, amazingly easy to get in and out of, and is stable -- and above all, it's FUNKY!!! After driving Mercedes over the past 30+ years, our ELEMENT is fun, refreshing, and different from other cars on the road!

Went from a Chevy Tahoe to an Element. At first my Husband would chatch me scooting around town and laugh. Now when he borrows it once in a while (he drives a F350 crew cab every day) he says how much fun it is to drive. He even chooses to drive it on the weekends for family trips. He says its causes of the great fuel milage but I think he just loves to dive it as much as I do.

I was looking for a utility vehicle with a bit of personality and the Element became my single focus. I wanted something with a manual transmission and the Element is one of the few SUVs to offer this. What surprised me wss the sporting performance that this vehicle has in terms of passing power and handling, especially for its size. Combined with 4wd, a very decent sound system and flexible configuration, this car is an outstanding value.

We specifically looked at Honda Elements because we haul around 2 big Lab. mix dogs who shed year 'round, pant a lot and have wet noses.... It's absolutely perfect for them to ride in the very back, they have windows and a skylight for air, and we can easily clean the floors and occasional back seat hair fest very easily. We are a little disappointed that the gas mileage isn't better, but we are happy with all else about the Element. It could be that we have gotten spoiled about the mileage since we bought a Honda Civic Hybrid at the same time! Thanks. Barb Clark-Elliott (BCE1028@aol.com)

This really is the Swiss Army knife of automobiles. As a product designer I appreciate every detail of the Element. Some reviews have outlandish suggested improvements....6cyl, Hybrid, luxury options, etc. Take a marketing class and you'll appreciate what the Element has and more importantly why it does (or doesn't for that matter) have it. Honda has hit a home run with this vehicle but not everyone knows how to spot a diamond in the rough. When I spoke of purchasing an Element some people I know said "It's hideous" and yet when they actually ride in it they immediately acknowledge it's roomy, and versatile interior as well as it's good power and comfortable ride. This one's a keeper.

From the moment I opened the door – I fell in love. I’m a smoker and this SUV offers not only easy clean up for children spills and dirt, but with just a bit of cleaner and a rag the smoke smell is history. I vacuum my SUV out wipe him down and off I go. The real time four wheel drive system is awesome in the snow, sand and mud. I have really put my SUV to the test and it out performs all I have ever driven. I have driven thru NM, TX, TN, AL, and GA – This SUV is gas friendly and fun to drive. I recommend it to anyone that is in need of a dependable, very roomy, functional and yet affordable SUV. And it’s a Honda

After researching the Element for several months, I decided that it was the car for me. It is so fun to drive. I have owned it 4 months and had no problems. Many features can be added (suggest the fog lights and rear spoiler). Fuel economy is so-so. Hate that it only seats four, but I don't car pool often. Had no problems and the Honda dealership was awesome! Please consider this for your next vehicle. The Element is the best bang for your buck!

This is by far one of the most fun cars I've ever owned. It just does something to me that when I see open fields of snow I want to veer off the road and go driving through them. I feel the call of the wild beckoning me to come and play with my new Element. I didn't like the looks of the Element when I first saw them. In fact, I thought it was down right ugly. But once I found the color that I liked, it really grew on me. Best ride for the money.

This is a fun car to drive. I have named her "Paprika" because of the bright orange color. I have had many men asked me to show them the inside of this fun car. I am a vibrant grandmother that enjoys having her third Honda. I love the door opening like a London Taxi! Nice pickup and a great price for a run-about-car. By the way, my other car is a Mercedes E-320 that my husband doesn't take in the snow, but borrows mine when the weather turns bad. I have a love affair with Hondas. I also like the part that the inside of the Element is washable and has plenty of room for my surfboard, wet suit

Instrument panel Gauges have black background and are deeply recessed and extremely hard to read in daytime. Seats are too firm and not very comfortable. Even though I have the EX model, there is no button on front passenger door to lock or unlock both front doors. Also, the door lock button (master) on driver's door has a real cheap plastic feel to it. Rear seat entry/exit is difficult. Rear seats are very heavy and awkward to remove or fold up. When folded, the upstruct rear quarter view. Love the looks of vehicle, and it is fun to drive. No problems so far.

I use it to bring home supplies from home improvement stores. I transport my lawn mower in it. I Pick up small furniture in it. I even picked up a new dishwasher and it fit right in! I also clean it up and take it to Church and other outings. In the winter it goes right through the snow. I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle.

I needed a car with better mileage that could still haul stuff if needed. Enter Element. Its engine is quite spry and handles the job more than adequately. It runs so quietly. At 80mph it's almost silent. The inside is sparse, but that's fine by me. No center console, I assume because the subwoofer would be blasting onto it if there was one. This makes for no place to store small items, especially CDs. Otherwise the interior is quite functional. One problem with the side doors: If you park in a lot with a car on either side and you have to access the back seats, it's quite difficult to open the front and back doors while standing between the two.

I just purchased my Element, the funny thing is I always like the car but my husband was the last person that I expect to like this car, but it was actually his decision to get it. He loved the look, however what was the best thing about this car is the space and flooring. We have 2 kids so this car is perfect and those of you who know your children they like to eat and make there food go every where and when they drink they make sure the share with everything else. So this car was something that would be easy to clean up after messes and just overall clean. I am very picky about cleaning my cars and what normally takes me 2 to 3 hours to clean my car it takes me only about 30 min to 1hr

I have owned my Element for only less than a month. I've loved them from the first time I've seen them a year ago. It handles nice, the room is unbelieveable and the drive is better! Perfect for anyone - with kids or no kids! Love the sunroof in the back for my child! He loves it! I am 31 years old and it's perfect for all ages - young and old.

The only small suv I could fit in. I am 6'5. Good Honda quality, fairly cheap utility vehicle. Can carry lots of tools. Fairly harsh bumpy ride on back roads. Disappointing gas mileage for a 4 cyl. My old audi A6 got about the same 22mpg. I know 5 people that bought one and they are all over 50, so much for the youth appeal. Overall good transportation for New England winter roads. Probably not a family car.

Own it for 10 months and so far love the way it handles the over all driving. Fun to drive and very practical. The sun visor, when down gets in the way of your driving site. The cup holders would prefer if they were a little higher reach. While driving it can be tricky to reach for the cup, you may need to take your eyes off the road momentarily. Mileage could be better for a 4 cyl. Manufacture claims 27 hgwy, I think 25 more likely. Igot mine loaded with options, under 24,000. For its price and performance I certainly would recommend it highly. The plastic side pannels that alot of readers are concerned about it, so far they holding on pretty good. Do hav

5spd AWD is really fun (!) to drive, quicker ( in 0 to 60 mph) than a v8 Chevy Tahoe SUV, nimble as a Civic with anti-lock brakes.
