Used 2012 GMC Terrain SUV Consumer Reviews
SOLD!! Best SUV I ever owned!
I have a 2012 Terrain SLE-1 with the V6 engine (NOT a 4 cylinder as I was forced to enter in the dropdown), FWD and a towbar, no sunroof , no bells and whistles. One owner, basically no passengers. Have towed two different boats for long distances. Have had absolutely NO problems with the SUV, just oil changes and tires. Comfortable, good looking seats, best radio I have had in any car/SUV, including a 2019! SOLD!!

Good if you can afford the work it'll need!
Pros: I think it's a pretty attractive car and has plenty of space inside. When it's running well, it's a good car. It let me drive it for a long time with the check engine light on.... until it didn't anymore (the light was due to an old error - I wasn't totally neglecting it). Cons: Had to have the rear main seal replaced; timing chain issues or whatever it's called; lots of recalls; previous owner had a new engine put in (unbeknownst to me when I bought it); windows don't roll up very well when you're accelerating (have to slow down and give it a helping hand to get up); replaced battery twice in the 4 years I've owned it; not sure what the issue is now, but after putting about $2500 in repairs into it, I'm ready to trade it. It's dying when it comes to a complete stop now, and I just don't have the time to get it fixed anymore. Shame, too, because it's such a good looking vehicle.

I loved my car!
The vehicle was a pleasure to drive. It was cheap to keep. Got good gas mileage. Too bad it was totaled in an accident.

DO NOT BUY FOR FUEL ECONOMY
I originally bought a V6 Terrain which got around 25mpg. It was totaled so then I bought a V4 thinking I would get at least 27mpg which I would be satisfied with since it is a SUV. I get between 22-24mpg with the V4. I take 70miles of interstate and drive 75mph to work. Extremely disappointed the first day of work with my new Terrain then I thought well maybe it needs broken in. It also is a loud idle engine like a almost ticking sound. The dealership checked it out and said it sounds like a V4. I have problems with the transmission sticking at 3rpms for a long time then it decides to shift up. My back up camera has blanked out about 4 times. Besides that it is very nice vehicle.
