Leaks, and strut bearings

If you get the transit with the 3.5 EcoBoost, be prepared to spend a lot of money to fix coolant leaks due to a known design flaw. Also on my 5th set of strut mount bearings, and my 3rd APIM module that controls the NAV and various other electrical components

Gas mileage is 12 combined city and highway, not loaded. Van is horrible in slush or light snow. Been driving vans for 30 years, terrible gas mileage and terrible in slush and snow Battery system doesn't fully charge, need to jump start once week

Love the van, but beware

I own a 2016 Transit 150. 7000 miles. Like a previous reviewer, I was driving down the road and lost all acceleration and motor was puttering. Had it towed to dealer. Tow truck driver told me he just towed a transit to same dealer two days previous with same symptoms. When I first talked to service dept guy, he said the previous Transit needed a throttle body, but he would call when he looked at mine. Sure enough, throttle body. Special order. Only a few days in my case, but I also have to eat the rental car costs. Clearly a systemic problem. Love the van, very comfortable, great utility, but this shouldn't be happening to a 5 month old vehicle.

My 2016 Transit 350 has been a horrible experience. Motor replaced 8000.00, new transmission 7500.00, 2500.00 in catalytic converters., 2 wheel hubs, replaced coil packs, spark plug grummlins , drive shaft. Over 20,000.00 in repairs. Been in service departs more days in 2018 that in my possession. Ford is no help.

Feels smaller than it really is.

This van is fun to drive, the leather trimmed power seats are comfortable. The 3.5 twin turbo eco boost engine is awesome, no turbo lag, just smooth power. The steering is quick and accurate, it feels like a smaller van. The ride is not as good as the Sprinter, a bit more vibration. The smaller tires don’t help the ride. The cab is cozy but tight, getting to the back is harder than in the Sprinter.
