I Don't Trust Ford

Within the first 70,000 miles I've had to replace the torque converter(30,000), TCM and clutch actuator(68,000), vapor canister purge solenoid and clutch(70,000). Focus models 2012-early 2016 all have extended warranties after they got sued for releasing known bad transmissions. Unfortunately later 2016 models aren't covered under this lawsuit, but I've been told to keep my receipt in case. I suggest not buying this car. But if you do, make sure you have an extended/100,000 mile warranty at least.

I bought a 2016 ford focus brand new and like everyone else I had shifting problems. Got it fixed and runs great now. Around 60,000 miles my radio speakers started crackling, not all the time but a month later the radio quit working and won't even light up now. The thing is that I don't even listen to the radio that much ever and I never even used the CD player yet.

Brief review: Ford's support has been radically under par. Trying to get them to care about problems is a major uphill battle. I'm a very mechanical kind of guy, I do almost all my own car work on my cars. One perk to the new 2016 Focus was I'd have something with a warranty. I got a new house that I'm working on, and no room in the garage to work on cars, and my driveway is a mess. So I wanted something where they'd make it right if there were problems. They promised exactly that. They have not just failed to deliver by not really caring, they have fought me every step of the way on every issue. The car doesn't warm up during winter. If it's less than 20 degrees, I plan on getting 23, 24 mpg even though I drive basically all highway. Summer I get 33, 34 mpg. The motor never warming up causes the poor economy, and is also hard on the motor. Cars are not meant to run mile after mile well below their thermostat temp. Also there's a rattle in the front end. The driver's door was sticking, though they did eventually fix that after enough fighting. Because the automatics have a ton of problems, my Focus lost about 2/3rds of its value in the first year. Not a normal "you drive it off the lot, you lose thousands" thing, but a catastrophic, I'm-stuck-with-this-car-forever loss. Despite no longer wanting to drive it and Ford doing an abysmal job. All things considered, even though in summer I enjoy driving the car, it's got plenty of power for me and does a good job in most respects, I've gone from buying all Fords (around a dozen late-model Fords in my life time) to being absolutely certain I won't buy another one again. I'm not certain I can find a manufacturer that will actually stand behind their vehicle, but I know Ford won't, despite many, many hours of stress and explaining and dropping the car off and picking it up. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Ford won't fool me twice.

Don't buy it! Run! My father needs numerous surgureys and his focus has not 20 thousand miles on it and blown head gasket! They won't even give him a loaner car! I would have driven it through the showroom windows! Guess that's what ya get for paying for something in full! Car was bought from Sands Ford in Schuylkill county, pa.

My previous car to this 2016 Ford Focus was a 2007 Mustang. Getting in and out of the Mustang was always uncomfortable and I'm a fit 6' 210 lb guy. The Mustang in a nutshell.. terrible brakes, blind spots and couldn't get out of its own way believe it or not. One day the Mustang was in the shop and I rented a Ford Focus, which in length seemed smaller than the Mustang so I was almost going to change up to a larger car but I decided to stick with it. From the moment I got in the car I was completely surprised. It may appear to be a small car but it feels a whole lot larger once you get in. I slid right into the drivers seat easily. The material used on the cloth seats in this car is very comfortable as well as sturdy enough to stand a beating over time. Fired it up and ran through all the goodies on the dash before hitting the road. Cutting to the chase I was thoroughly impressed with the acceleration which is what rental cars are for right? ;) The dashboard presentation was clear and concise giving a tremendous amount of insight and feature control with a quick press of a button. Handling was spot on and Braking was above average. Trunk space larger than I expected and getting out of the car was as easy as sliding in. I returned the rental, picked up the Mustang and drove straight to my Ford dealer and purchased a Black 2016 Focus SE Sedan with the Sport package, Sirius radio, Fog lamps and a few other goodies. I don't have many miles on the car yet, just around 2700 and have been through 3 oil changes already during this break in period to eliminate the metal shavings that occur in new engines as they seat. I have just now begun to bring the RPM's up and I have to say this Focus' 2.0L 160HP 4 cyl has more kick than my Mustang 6 cyl did. The transmission has been perfect as this car was built after Ford resolved the transmission problem in this model. As expected the Gas mileage has been terrific. The reverse camera is a great feature although it can go blind if you're backing into a spot where the curbs are covered with snow. I found this car to be a pleasant surprise and I'm quite pleased with its pep, braking and comfort. And on top of it all its a good looking machine. I believe anyone, as long as you're not 6' 5" or better, that gives this car a test drive will be uniquely surprised just as I was. Diggin this ride!!!
