I dont know how they rate this car a b but what ever this car has been in the shop 10 times and has 5k on it transmission is garbage and ford thinks to reprogram tcm if the fix car kicks and grinds and i see why there is a law suit for this car complete rip off and ford customer service center and case workers trying to sweep it under the rug and basically says sue us we are not buying car back even when the car will cause you to jump forward in an intersection and cause acciden. guess people have to get hurt or die for them to maybe say we need to fix this. ford is a fail in my book. and dealship says this is an issue that they dont know how to fix .

Too many issues with the dual clutch. Nobody wants to buy a car that they have to fix up every year. Going to trade it in after only 3 years.

I bought my focus used with a little less than 30,000 miles on it. The only issue I had with it was the recall already done on it; the fuel sensor went bad. But it was covered under warranty. Car handles great. Could use a little more pick up and go. Great gas mileage. Very happy with the purchase.

Disappointed

SYNC is a disaster, did not work with my Android phone. Slow, quirky experience with iPhone. NVH on highway felt pronounced, but not necessarily worse than other cars in this class. As compared to a low spec Toyota Corolla, this car's non-driving interface (ventilation, radio, and car information) is clunky, awkward, and slow. Otherwise the two cars are similar.

My first new car!

My parents bought me this car for my 18th birthday early 2015. As soon as I saw the car at the dealership, I knew it would be perfect. As a newer driver, I wanted to be driving a car that was not only easy to drive and gets good gas mileage, but is safe and comfortable as well. The Ford Focus Hatchback SE meets all those expectations. Originally we planned on getting a 2014 Ford Focus, but the 2015 was only about $1k more so we decided to get the newest model. The car itself is very sporty, with black and silver rims as well as paddle shifters on the steering wheel (for those who would like to drive the car in the optional sport/manual mode). The cloth interior is very durable and comfortable. The radio, bluetooth, and climate control are also user friendly for those who may not be used to having more technology in their car. Driving the hatchback is smooth, and especially quiet on the freeway or on bumpier roads. The one thing I found surprising in this car is the sensitivity of the accelerator; you do not have to press down hard on it for the car to accelerate quickly. The only downside to the car is the leg room for the back seats. However, it won't matter as much if you are driving with one or two other people. There is a ton of trunk space, which can even fit a couple sets of golf clubs/bags. This car is great, and perfect for newer drivers and students.

It's OKAY.

I've had this car almost two years now and the transmission is absolutely terrible. Always slips, pain to take to the shop. Apparently its "supposed to run like that". No it should not. It also has a huge hesitation a good majority of the time when accelerating. Such a new car should not run like that. And both the slipping and hesitation are noticeable to even the least car-knowing person out there. A little sad if you ask me. Also the electrical component is borderline crap. So many times of troubleshooting and changing fuses because the bluetooth or USBs refuse to work. SYNC handsfree is also not very good. I've tried to use it and it's more of a distraction than an actual help because its so bad. HOWEVER, It is a super comfortable car. Long car rides are not bad at all. When on the freeway it is a pretty smooth ride. Cruise control works great. The interior lighting is very nice. The back seats could be a little more spacious if you ask me. But the cargo space in the trunk with the hatchback is very great. But, once my lease is up I will not be getting the focus again. A little upsetting if you ask me.

The rental I had used the Ford Powershift transmission and it's annoying. Accelerating from a stop causes the car to lurch and slip until it goes to 2nd. The turning radius is horrible. Other than that it's a nice car, even for a compact. Handling through mountain roads is great and it never slid. The digital instrument panel has all the info you'd want to know.

The power shift transmission is the worst thing to have been put in a car. It's given me nothing but problems in 2+ years of ownership. 2 parts replacements and 3 software resets of the transmission computer...in 45,000 miles. Unacceptable. And now the airbag light is on. Other than that, I really like the car because performance-wise it's pretty nimble, it rides quietly and comfortably, it has a nice tech package for a mid-level car, and it looks great. Update: I dumped this car at just over 50k on the odometer after another transmission problem. Do not buy a Focus. Period.

The automatic hybrid manual transmission stutters from takeoff. Ford knowingly kept selling these cars with a transmission problem that can't be fixed. They refuse to recall it and put in something that works. Ford lost a class action lawsuit and still won't admit any fault. Typical corporate B.S.

Clutch was needing replaced every 35k miles, front end went out at 50k, constant radio problems. Thank God I bought an extended warranty. Because the car depreciated so fast and didn’t hold its value, the repairs would cost more than how much the car is worth. I’ve basically lived at the dealership since I bought it. I’ll never own another Ford. Complete piece of junk. DO NOT BUY!!

Despite it getting great gas mileage and the interior being very spacious for the size of the car, the car is far from a glorious car. No matter how you drive the car, the engine will give out easily. The engine or transmission is bound to blow. The interior is spacious, but it is also very, very, very cheap feeling. Everything in aide is made of cheap low grade plastic and does not have a very pleasant feel. The steering wheel is the only part of the interior that feels like any effort went into finding a proper material for it.

Know what you want before you walk into the showroom. Know your price point (all sales are negotiable). Avoid unnecessary purchases such as gap insurance, etc.. Please note. that if gap insurance is needed, you are buying beyond your means. Rethink the sale / purchase. Discuss those issues first, and then resolve them as quickly as possible. I got my vehicle $200 below asking cost. Once done, relax and let the salesman talk about whatever issue that pleases them.

I got this car as I was looking for cheap reliable transportation but ended up being able to lease a 2015. Had the car for about six months and so far haven't had a bad experience. I wish the headlights threw a little farther and it tends to hesitate a little when you step on the gas but all around its performs pretty well. The gas mileage leaves little to be desired and it handles well. My major complaint is that with the material of the dashboard, the black interior looks incredibly dirty within a matter of days, but smoking in the car probably doesn't help. Overall I would recommend this car.

Great fit for average size persons. Comfortable ride and more than adequate as an around town car. Also stable and comfortable on longer trips. Good value for the money. Transmission shifting has become an issue. Dealer indicate it's a common problem.

Bought this car pretty new, have kept on regular maintenance and it has been fairly cheap to work on. The Bluetooth randomly stopped working for no reason, the dealership wants $1800 to fix it. Despite decent tires, handling in the snow isn't optimal. The lag between 1st and 2nd gear is pretty annoying and I've had to take it into the dealership a few times due to recalls. MPG leaves much to be desired and the interior feels cheap. All-in-all this car is disappointing and I want to get rid of as soon as I can.

I’ve had this car for 2 years now and it’s done decently well. I bought it with 32k miles and is now sitting at 71k. I would take it on 2 and half hour drives every week for over a year and I’ve always loved it. It’s a good car for a single person, but definitely very small
