I should have heeded warnings.

We purchased the Titanium package 2014 Focus in August 2014. It was sort of a rushed purchase because of a situation we had at home. At first we loved it. It was comfortable and efficient and looked pretty decent for a 4-door sedan. It now (Aug 2015) has about 4000 easy miles. It has always been babied and garaged and serviced regularly. We were thinking all along "why are people complaining about the Focus?" NOW we know. At the low mileage of 4000, last night the car showed us its real performance. It started jerking and fluttering and stopping and starting, really scary on the road. Then the engine light came on. We made it home thank goodness. We're taking it to the dealer Monday and I am already anticipating a scene or non-help from what I have read on numerous reviews. This really irks me. We bought a brand-new car thinking it would last at least 10 years for us (like most of our non-Ford cars have always done). This is our very first "lemon." What happens remains to be seen, but I am not optimistic. The salesman looked us straight in the eye on the day we purchased this car and smiled and said, this is a "great little car." What a joke. He HAD to know the problems.

Transmission Unsafe

7 months in - stranded twice by transmission errors. First one said "Transmission Overheating - Stop When Safe". Dealer in CT worked on it for five days but did not enter work into Ford system. This time received "Transmission Failure" message and car went out of gear while driving. Almost rear ended. Brought to original dealer in NJ. They found a code for a Service Bulletin about not being able to put it in reverse, which wasn't the problem, but can't find anything else wrong. Left with unsafe car and no options. Absolute junk

Cheap! thinking of lemon law

I have had my car since February 2015, been in the shop three times. Have had a defective tire, and a/c vent fall apart, and they claimed they had to "reprogram" my transmission. Well i Had a road trip from Florida to Kansas and back. Well going through the mountains in Chattanooga TN, the car started shaking and got stuck in a gear. At most I was only able to go 55 and when I hit my brakes to see if it'll get unstuck, it got stuck going 40. I had to literally floor the vehicle to get it to accelerate. This car is a piece of junk. I am so close to filing a lemon law. The company says it's the type of transmission. I'm sorry but if I get stuck in a gear and can't accelerate, that is an issue that better be fixed. Great gas milage though!

Several years back I had a Taurus wagon and transmission needed to be replace 3 times. Twice by ford and after going to transmission professional I was shown the cheap part Ford had put back into my transmission and was shown the upgraded parts need to make my transmission work. Transmission professional told me the same transmission was in the Ford Escort and to sell the car as fast as I could. It has not changed on the Focus garbage transmission had to visit Ford garage 4 times before transmission is replaced. I would pick up the car from ford drive down the street and pick up the mechanic to show him it was still not working. The Mechanic told me it would not get fixed until I had come in 3 times. Ford wasted my time, cost me money away from work, worried me every time I went on trip. Folks, DO NOT BUY A FORD!!!!

Car shut off at 70 mph

First let me say, I love my car. Except for one small problem, it keeps trying to kill me. My problem started in August of this year, the car would turn itself off while driving but would immediately turn right back on. We took it in for repairs at the dealership we bought it from. They kept it for 4 days and then called us to come get it. They said they couldn't fix it because they couldn't duplicate the problem. I called Ford Corporation and talked to their regional service area manager. She seemed very pleasant and arranged for my car to stay with the dealership for awhile longer and even made sure I had a rental. At that point I was very pleased with the service I had received. I bragged to everyone about it. I get a call from the dealership staring they reprogrammed the transmission control module on my car and I could come and get it. After four days of having my car back, I continued having the same program. This time I had a video of the incident. I started recording the driving of the car after the issue happened a second time. I took the car back into the dealership. They've had it for over a week now. They cannot duplicate the issue and all but ignore the fact there is a video. I called the Regional lady back and she was horrible. She told me to drive my and that the issue will just eventually get worse. I asked her how long was I suppose to drive it, until the warranty was up or I died in an accident? While this issue has gone on, the car has stopped dead on the highway while driving it. No control, no power. Just dead. This car is very dangerous.
