Used 2016 Ford F-150 SuperCab Consumer Reviews
Unreliable and quirky
I have the ‘16, XL, 2.7 liter ecoboost, with 6.6 ft bed, and the sport package. I drive 99% city driving. And get marginal gas mileage at 14 mpg (I am anything but a lead foot). I have put less than 10K miles on this vehicle and it has been into the shop 5 times. The first time because the auto start-stop quit working for a few weeks, then suddenly started working again causing the truck to turn off in traffic, and not start again when I took my foot off the brake. Had I beed in stop-n-go traffic on the highway, this would have been very dangerous. The dealership said it was a faulty battery. That doesn’t instill much confidence that this problem won’t happen again in the future as batteries don’t last forever. The second time it went to the shop, the a/c quit working. When they got to it at the dealership 2 days later, it was suddenly working again with no explanation as to why it would do this. The third and fifth time was because the infotainment system wouldn’t turn on. The fourth time was because the emergency brake wouldn’t release. Again, when they got it to the shop, it started working again. A friend of mine that is an ex-employee of Ford suggested I turn the auto start-stop system off since I do so much city driving. Since taking his advice, I have had no more major electronic component issues other that the 911 assist message rarely goes away after turning the infotainment system on. Furthermore, this truck is full of quirks. The back up camera sometimes just doesn’t work. The Sync system sometimes just doesn’t work. The 911 assist notification very often comes on when you start the vehicle and doesn’t go away, preventing use of the infotainment system. The brake pedal always squeaks. When the auto start-stop system turns the truck back on, it idles extremely rough with a lot of vibration and shake going through the vehicle. The battery is too small for the auto start-stop system. The truck rarely ever shuts off as long as a single red light. A larger battery might actually make the system add some fuel savings to vehicle. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this truck to anybody. I’m already looking forward to the day that I trade it in on something that is more reliable and without all the quirkiness.

No more aluminum
What should have been just a scrape turned into a major body repair. My son was parking this large truck in tight spaces at his college parking garage. While making a turn he scraped a concrete column. With most cars (certainly trucks) this would have been an ugly scrape - probably would require repairs for cosmetic reasons. However the aluminum body literally tore open around the rear door handle. The side of the truck bed literally buckled. I expect, with the typical steel body truck he could have driven around with an ugly scrape until not taking classes and convenient to repair. Now we have to get it fixed asap to avoid water getting in through the gash in the body, etc. After less than 500 miles the windshield washer pump stopped working. The service people were helpful enough to take it in on a Saturday and replace the pump at no charge or deductible. The auto stop/start also stopped working. I don't think its needed so much, but I need to get it diagnosed to make sure there is not some issue with the electronics. The dash display says "vehicle is charging". With less than 1,000 miles on the truck not so happy with having to schedule repairs and dealer appointments.

Worst car I've owned
Drove off the lot with vibration. Dealer said normal even though it's obviously not. Bought an angle finder and found 4.5 degree working angle for transaxle-to-driveshaft and .5 degree working angle at pinion-to-driveshaft. Working angles should be 1 degree at least or you'll wear out u-joints. Working angles should be within 1 degree or you'll have vibration. While trying to get that fixed, 5.0 engine developed a tick at idle and a clacking sound in the passenger side valvetrain. All of this and I have 2,200 miles on a brand new truck. Dealer today argued it all drives and sounds normal, of course. Run as fast as you can from the F-150. They are not what they used to be. In fact, this is my third new Ford since 2013 and they've been nothing but headaches. 28 years of driving Fords since age 16. Today, done with Ford for good. Their cars are junk now.

One AWESOME Truck
I traded in my 2013 F-150 xlt for a new 2016 model. Didn't really need a new ruck but they were having such a really good at our local dealer that I just couldn't resist the deal. I've always been a V8 man myself but was told to test drive the new 2.7 Eco boost. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't drove it. This truck will out run my old v8 5.0. I've only put 200 miles on it so only time will if the engine is as good as the 5.0 in reliability. As for the looks of the truck, all my buddies can't believe how how plush it is. Everyone that rides in it can't believe how it rides and handles. The Chevy guys all say I wish my Chevy rode like this. So for anyone wondering about the 2.7 eco boost just go and test drive you will love it. Even tho the engine isn't broke in yet I have been getting 24 mpg going to work on the Wv mountain roads.

Even better than my Tundra
Excellent interior; easy access; driver friendly controls; great power; love the rear view camera for hooking up a trailer; handles extremely well for a big truck - a little floaty without a load, but holds the road very well. Mileage better than expected for this size truck with the 5.0 engine. Have now - November 2016 - put 17k miles on my F 150, including towing a cargo trailer from South Florida to PA. Continue to be very satisfied. As reviews have stated, the 5.0 requires a kick in the butt under load, but still delivers. Mileage drops from around 20=21 on the highway to around 13 towing a 6x12 loaded cargo trailer and with the truck (8ftbed) loaded as well, but it is still a pleasure to drive. Don't find SYNC 3 very creative with my Apple phone - in fact the Garmin navigator I use is much better integrated with the phone than the truck. Hoping for software updates that will improve functionality between the iPhone and SYNC3. Very low oil consumption - 1/2 qt approx up to first oil change, but none since then. Will soon have experience with cold weather operation,, doubt the OEM tires (Wrangler M+S) will be adequate, but we will see. After 40k miles, a couple of comments: volume control for radio on dash stopped working at about 36k, after warranty. No other problems and truck has been great in all weather. Use Blizzaks in winter and we had a lot of snow in the Poconos last winter, but truck performed flawlessly. Never have been able to get the infotainment system to use Apple Car Play with my phone, not sure whether this is a function of my ignorance or failure of software in the truck to update.
