Used 2000 Ford Explorer Consumer Reviews
A Good SUV
I've put almost 19,000 miles on this SUV in less than 8 months and I have had no problems whatsoever. I had a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo before this so it was nice to trade-up to a car without a rusty spare tire holder and bumper. The Explorer is probably a shade worse on fuel but the Rodeo had a manual tranny. The Explorer has a much more solid feel, doesn't lean on turns, has a normal cupholder and overall feels more comfortable.
2000 Explorer Eddie Bauer
Looked at everything in the 20-30K range at the time of purchase and nothing could beat the explorer for overall performance, handling, interior comfort and safety. Problems: Air bag sensor changed. Radio LED display stopped working.

Great Auto
I bought this Explorer new. Pulled small box trailers and boats all over the South and Southwest. Never have had any trouble. Only did regular maintenance. It has been hard on tire, but all of my other SUVs were also. It comes with the territory in these vehicles. The back wiper has never worked right, but not a big problem. Stills runs great. Uses no oil. The model has taken a lot of bad publicity, but mine has just been excellent. I would buy another.
2000 Explorer Sport
If you're going to by an Explorer, you may want to opt for the 4-door instead of the 2-door sport model. It doesn't take corners well at all and the suspension leaves a lot to be desired. It drives like a pickup truck. We've had ours for 4 years. The engine has been fine, with only a sensor going bad. Also, the brakes had to be replaced at only 21,000 miles.
Traded the Mustang
I got my 2000 Ford Explorer Sport earlier this month when I traded my 1998 Ford Mustang in for it. I needed much more room for my things, with being an art major in school, and a musician. I liked how the Explorer Sport looked rugged and tough-not weak and flimsy like other SUV's. This one works great for people with busy lifestyles, with things to do and stuff to carry. It's fun to pile all of your friends into the Explorer and head out to the beach, or mountains, with the windows down and radio up. It's very fun to drive- I get a lot of compliments on this vehicle.
