One month review
Didn't think I'd be buying a 10 year old SUV but I saw it on the lot and had to have it! Great looking lots of pep and cargo room.it rides like a car. It is painted matte black and only chrome on it are the wheels. Love this truck... the only downside for me is the loud engine noise in the underground parkade and when you turn the motor off it sounds like a turbo spooling down. It gets lots of looks when driving around town and we love it.

Reliable and versatile
My second Escape - loved my 2006 so much I got another. I drive a lot for work and wanted something that wouldn't leave me guessing, as well as being comfortable, capable and economical. Got the 4 cylinder (design shared with Mazda) and the automatic. Usually got around 27-28 mpg on the highway. Reasonably quiet (it's no luxury car), comfortable seats (I'm a bit over 6 foot tall), and good driving visibility. Sits up off the road, so with good tires it's excellent in snow (FWD). Best of all, the only repairs I've had to do have pretty much been limited to suspension related brackets - cheap. I replaced the resistor for the cabin air fan twice - but that's a cheap part and an easy DIY. No engine problems, no transmission problems, no brake issues. Body has the (inevitable) rust beginning in the rear wheel wells. I sold it to my daughter a year and a half ago because I wanted her to have something reliable, and she really likes it. Still no problems at 160,000 miles. Only drawback - I had to keep repeating the process of connecting my phone to Sync, the hands-free system. Probably about every three months or so - don't know why it kept losing the interface. But overall, the car was worth every bit of what I paid for it used, with about 17,000 miles on it. Update - 12/2020 - Daughter still drives it - about 175,000 miles now. Only repair was a fuel pump - costs a bit because it's a little hard to access. Otherwise, no problems.

Not As Good .......
I love my 2004 Escape-129K+ and never a minutes trouble-easy to care for-I hate my 2010! Love the sync & sirius-but hate the interior (dash, console)-no way to keep clean. Also liked running boards on 2004. Can feel wind when driving-can not in 2004-not sure what changed-but would not do it again!
Great value!
Best small SUV ever owned. I have the 5 speed, 2.5. Bought it brand new and it has being nothing but pure pleasure to drive. A.C no longer working but all other power options still working. Original factory battery. Needs new rear shocks and a paint job - that is it. Love my car!

Really Very Happy
I have an XLS with the 6 speed automatic. This vehicle is an excellent value for the money. It's very comfortable (I'm 6'3") with an excellent rear seat and cargo room. I have experienced remarkable fuel economy (well over 30 MPG highway, about 20 city) and have experienced no problems whatsoever. Visibility is outstanding (particularly if you remove the rear head restraints as some other reviewers have done).
