I love my new Equinox
Adam Woodworth, Lansing, MI, 07/14/2018
2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)
If your going to buy the new Equinox I highly recommend upgrading to the 2.0 Liter with the 9 speed transmission in it. I have owned several models through the years and the smaller motors are awful in the snow and on the highway. I just traded in my 2016 for the 2018 Premier 2.0 Liter AWD with the 9 speed transmission in it. The car has all the bells and whistles in it. I love the lane … assist in the car. It drives and rides like a Cadillac. I love the leather and the seats have the fans in them. The 19" hankook tires make all the difference in the ride and handling. I love the built in towing package as well. I just got back from a trip out west and it was a great time. My family and I all had a blast and the car was the cherry on the top.
Fuel economy versus fuel cost

2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)
In general, we like the car. I hope we like the front seats on a long trip as they seem a little hard and the bottom seat cushions are short. My biggest issue is the recommendation to use 93 octane fuel in our 2.0 Turbo, which came as a surprise to me after the purchase. In our area, we can't get 93 octane fuel, which is a common issue in much of the U.S. We can get 91 octane, but … is costs $.50 more a gallon than regular 87 octane fuel. Thus, the fuel savings of the 4 cylinder engine are offset by the higher cost of the fuel.
UPDATE: Drove 500+ miles today, and seats were very comfortable. Mileage by computer was 29.7, but manual calculation was a little less. Today in Wisconsin, we saw 91 octane fuel priced $.90 higher than 87 octane fuel.
1-21-21 Update 49,000 miles driven.
I like the vehicle as it is easy to get in and out, has good visibility, good build quality, few mechanical issues, is a very nice size for city driving yet is very comfortable and good to drive on a long trip (600 miles + per day), good room inside for a smaller vehicle, and has a very good performing drive train (2.0 Turbo). However, Chevy did cut several corners and could have done a better job in many areas. For example, the Equinox can have any one of 3 headlights bulb systems depending on the trim level, and none of them work all that well.
Good SUV, but not worth $40,000+

2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)
I do like my SUV. The ride is good , but could've been better for the price. Not as smooth over bumps, but ok. The interior is beautiful, but cheap materials that show smudges easily. I got the leather vinyl interior, and some parts of the interior just gives you that plastic feel. Again it's nice but definitely overpriced!
Pretty stiff ride.

2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 9A)
Overall the 2018 Equinox I leased is great in some things and poor in others. I don't like the front seats. They are hard and too small and I am not a large person. I had leased a 2015 Equinox. The ride and comfort of that car was way above that of the 2018. I"ve had cars for over 55 years and everyone of them have been a Chevy except for when they still made the Oldsmobile. I will have … to rethink my options when it comes time to lease a new car. I think it will be a change in brand.
Edmunds Summary Review of the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier SUV
What’s new
- Fully redesigned for 2018
- New engines provide great fuel economy
- Part of the third Equinox generation introduced for 2018
Pros & Cons
- Pro:Three engines to choose from, including a fuel-efficient diesel
- Pro:Smooth ride over most road surfaces
- Pro:Expansive list of optional safety features
- Pro:MyLink user interface is intuitive and easy to use
- Con:Smaller cargo area compared to most of its competitors
- Con:Base L trim is special order only
- Con:The 1.5-liter engine and its slow-shifting transmission don't feel very lively
Which Equinox does Edmunds recommend?
The L is a great deal, but it's a special order-only model so you won't find it at the dealership. The LS costs more and doesn't add much, so best to skip to the midgrade LT. Its slight price bump from the LS is justified by the inclusion of xenon headlights, a power driver's seat and tinted windows. It also opens the door to the Confidence and Convenience package, which adds advanced safety equipment and a few luxury features.

Driving
8.0The upgrade from the base 1.5-liter engine to the 2.0-liter is well justified with the amount of power and efficiency it delivers. On top of that, the Equinox has impressive handling on a twisty road. The only downside is the big turning radius that affects U-turns and parking.
Comfort
7.0Aside from the poorly placed air vents on the dash and the rather stifling leather upholstery, the Equinox gets high marks for comfort. Driving for many hours on end will not cause any undue fatigue. All things considered, it's comparable to other SUVs in the class.
Interior
7.0The Equinox interior is attractive and mostly well-configured. But we would prefer the steering wheel to telescope further and wish the panoramic sunroof wasn't as intrusive for rear passengers.
Utility
7.5While the Equinox doesn't have an abundance of cargo space compared to rivals, it should still handle the bulk of everyday hauling. When you consider some of the thoughtful features, it's easy to give it a nod for the lack of on-paper capacity.
Technology
8.0Chevrolet gets high marks for tech, curing many of the ills that plagued past models. It has plenty of features that are standard throughout the lineup, and the inclusion of six USB ports ensures all devices will be charged.
