Sweet ride!!
The FWD has great pick up especially if you have the 5spd with the saved weight. It is a little on the roley side, but it is taken care of by easy instal of sway bar in the rear. Super comfy and attention to detail is incredible. It had no problems with it when I got it at 63k and it still doesn't at 80k. Turns heads and I have got more comments on this car then any other even my 300zxtt.
Only Oil and Gas - Great car
This has been a great car. It is fun to drive, it's been VERY reliable (only oil and gas), and it has a great stereo. Definately get the 2.8 quattro. It hugs the road and does well in snow. I was worried about Audi because of the 5000 issues in the '80s. But this car has won me over!
Automobile Work of Heart
This Audi is a gem to look at from every angle. Looks better than the 96' 3 series and the 02' A4. Quattro gives snow days a blast and you can do all sorts of tricks in the snow. Before purchasing this, I would find a friendly mechanic who can work on Audi's. Don't bother taking it to a dealer and only bring it there for only changes and minor work.
Great, reliable buy!
I loved this car the day I bought it. I purchased with 85K and have only had work on the rear brakes. Car is amazingly fast and handles like a sports car. Suspension is perfect for any driving situation and has an extremely comfortable ride. I would encourage any one to buy this vehicle.
Great ride, poor reliability
I love this car. It drives well, gets decent mileage and still looks great. The AWD is awesome. Interior design is very well laid out. If it had Honda/Toyota reliability, I'd keep it until the wheels fall off. I have replaced the dash (dealer recall), replaced both catalytic converters ($900 each), replaced the left rear wheel bearing twice, replaced the A/C evaporator, replaced the water pump and the radio twice. The local dealer (I bought elsewhere) is poor. They seem to lack knowledge and caring.
Great All Around Car
Bought new May 1996. Had only one problem in all that time; power window control needed to be replaced. Fantastic in the snow with a set of Pirelli snows. Fun to drive and has been very reliable
1996 Audi A4 Quatro
This is a car that is fun to drive. It has exeptional cornering ability. The brakes let you stop on a dime. I like the precision in the steering; it is tight and exact. I also like the built- in antenna in the rear window. One less item to cause problems.
Love/Hate Relationship
Bought with 65K miles 18 months ago. I spend alot of time behind the wheel, felt A4 would be nice ride that I could put tons of miles on.First 2 months were torture.Check engine light went on every other week.Oxygen sensors replaced twice b4 problem resolved. Since then I have put over 50K miles on this car with no major problems.Only issues are minor electrical glitches (ie stereo, climate cont. display, moonroof).Overall: would buy another from a good dealer with a good warranty.
Not a bad car
The overall has and still is very dependable. There have been no costly or major defects in the 6 years I have had the car.
Sweet ride
I bought this car to move to Colorado and she is great! Even without Quattro she works great in the snow. Faster then the quattro's i tried to. Lighter and more power at the wheels. Very Classy. The engineering is outstanding. The little things like auto down for all four windows. Easy open hood latch. All windows close with the turn of the key.
