Great for fun and the long run.
This has been an extremely reliable car. I have only needed to do routine maintenance. The engine still runs smooth as ever, has plenty of punch, and does not burn any oil. The so-called German luxury car makers should take lessons from Honda on how to make dependable cars.
great car even at 20 years old
I needed a car with an automatic transmition. I drive a 7.3 F-350 powerstroke diesel and my wife dosent feel comfortable driving. I also drive it alot so we thought alot about what we wanted and if we should by new used how much to spend availability and price of replacement parts. We decided to pay cash under $5000 including tax and licensing, We also had a very ambitious list of amenities we wanted. My wife picked the car and I knew nothing about the car when I test drove it and was very impressed, when we returned to the used car dealer we negotiated a price of $3500 including everything tax and license. I have now had the car a couple months it has 171,000miles but appears to have been well taken care of and has absolutely turned me into an Acura fan, the car is equipped with all the luxury of a Cadillac and performance ,design and build quality that makes you really enjoy driving it, very comfortable powerful and the ride, feel of the road and confidence of its ability to respond to your input is beautiful. The suspention is responsive without being stiff like a sports car or spongy like a luxury car, it is a pefect balance and a blast to drive on the edge or down the higway on cruse control. The interior luxury is top notch no rattles or squeaks as a matter of fact is is incredibly quiet I have had many people comment on its ability to keep the road noise outside. It is a car that has to be driven to belive. If you are looking to buy a great used car, the 2000 Acura TL is a great buy.

Nana needs a suv!
The ONLY reason I'm getting rid of this wonderful car is because at 60yrs young, I need a car that's sits up higher. Getting in and out is becoming an issue. I love my Acura and would drive it into the ground if I could. It is fairly young as it is 2018 as I write this, and has 103k miles on it. Dont even hesitate to purchase a low milage Acura. If it's been taken car of...this car will easily go 300k. My mechanic said he could have mine sold in less than a week if I will put on his lot.

2000 TL
Bought it used in 2004. It only had 25,000 miles. Runs great, rides great, looks great. Not a fan of having to use premium gas but it has delivered performance and reasonable gas mileage. Wouldn't hesitate to hop in and take off on a 3000 mile road trip.
Transmission woes
This is my second Acura. I bought it after having a great experience with my older Legend which currently has over 340,000 miles on it with minimal problems. Overall the TL is really great but the problems with the transmission make it overwhelming disappointing. I had the first trans replaced at 100,000 miles and before the original recall (I don't drive the car hard or use the sport shift) and this new transmission only has 73,000 miles and is failing. Of course, Acura refuses to replace the second transmission, which is no different than the original that was in the car. Sorry, but I will never buy an Acura again.
