2013 Ford Escape SE 4dr SUV AWD (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
I leased 2.0 liter 4WD SE, (not listed in review choices?) - No bells, just My Ford Touch, and tow package. Overall, not a bad vehicle, but needs big improvements. Had it for 3 weeks now. Wanted it for over a year. At this point i must say it needs major tweaking by Ford. Glad I only leased short term. For the price of this vehicle (just over 30 grand) I would expect much more however. Simple things like better bolstered seats, one touch up windows, better storage, and back up sensors should really be standard Ford! They are on other vehicles for sure. And for over $30,000 one should be getting push button start and back up camera!
Engine is strong and fun to drive. I came from a WRX. Decent sense of security from the stable drive and 4WD. Blind spot mirrors work just as well as lighted signals-better in my opinion. Visability is good, except for the rear. It is not noisy at all. Very quiet.
Aside from what i already mentioned... Ford should make fewer trim levels, maybe two instead of four. And then offer more ways to option it out. Don't claim the gas mileage you do either, not even close. Maybe 20mpg average. Don't put manual seats in any vehicle! Clean up the clunky and way too large buttons around the steering wheel. My Ford touch is still not that user friendly. Can't stream Pandora without plugging in, and interface is anything but intuitive- who designs these things- definitely not Apple! Lastly, make some more standard improvements to outclass other vehicles or your sales will die. Maybe the Titanium model is nicer than the SE, but for a outrageous price!
Back with some more negatives I'm afraid... You can't see where to put the key in the ignition switch because the clunky stearing wheel controls are in the way, you have to lean way over to find it. Now I have to have service for a airbag malfunction light coming on, just when i wanted to go out of town for the weekend.
