Porsche Workers Get Big Bonus To Celebrate 50th Anniversary of 911

STUTTARGT, Germany — Porsche workers will get a special bonus of 8,111 Euros or the U.S. equivalent of $10,477 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, the automaker announced on Wednesday.

The chairman of the company's General Works Council described the bonus as a "turbo-intergalactic special payment."

The bonus goes out to more than 13,500 Porsche employees in Germany.

Porsche is also celebrating its most successful business year in the company's history. In the 2012 financial year, Porsche increased its deliveries by about one-fifth compared to 2011.

More than 820,000 Porsche 911s have been sold since its debut in 1963.
