NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The new marketing campaign for the 2014 Nissan Rogue features prime product placement in Times Square on New Year's Eve.

The redesigned Rogue will be showcased in animated billboards during the countdown to midnight in the Big Apple. Nissan also plans to run Rogue advertising in Times Square throughout January.

The new Rogue spots show the crossover in action-hero mode, including one sequence that positions the vehicle on top of a speeding commuter train. Viewers are warned that this is "fantasy."

"Do not attempt," the advertisement says.

Nissan said the commercials are designed to "celebrate the energy and boldness of the Rogue."

The Rogue is on sale now.

Edmunds says: Nissan said it intends for Rogue to take a "rebellious detour," something you wouldn't expect from competitors like the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4.
