Used 2005 Volvo XC90 Consumer Reviews
Favorite Car So Far
This car has exceeded all our expectations and is a pleasure to drive. It's safe, fun to drive, roomy, and stylish, too..other moms always express volvo envy.
shop talk
This one is getting ready to become a "lemon law" mobile. I've had the brakes worked on so many times volvo is ordering "specially manufactured larger" brake pads and rotars for this "unique problem". THESE DO NOT COME STANDARD ON THE XC 90. You too can get the special pads and rotars that actually fit the vehichle, you just have to have it in the shop most of the first two years.

Volvo T6 AWD
To date have had a great experience with the car. Also had same with dealership. Excellant service with NO pressure. Also made very favorable deal.
Vail Pass at 85 MPH, W/ Nelly thumping!!
OK, I have no kids yet I have a soccer mom car. I had an Infinity QX-4 and it was great, but I was in for a change and a car from Japan was not going to be it, ergo the VOLVO XC90 w T6 and Premium sound. I live in Vail and blast back and forth from Vail to Denver a lot. 2 passes, windy roads, lots of snow and ice and I couldn't be happier. The manual option for the trans is key to making it up the passes fast, I am never passed (unless it is icy and some tourist with a cowboy hat on in his rented SUV thinks he has crampons for tires) The stereo is awesome and the creature comforts are all there. My wife has the Cross Country and both are outstanding. Sorry to all those who hate theirs!
Be Careful
I guess you can say that I'm retracting my original rating of 8.5. Since I posted it my XC-90 has been on the lift more than on the road. At 9k miles it needs a new transmission. Volvo is paying for it but after the dealer took apart the original one, only to find Volvo corp shipped the wrong replacment transmission. The vehicle also makes some annoying noises at hwy speed that they cannot seem to fix. I feel like a sucker. Never again! by the way they will NOT pro-rate powertrain warranty the additional 9k miles. Why did I even ask???
