Warning: Read this BEFORE you buy
I purchased a new 2003 Volvo. Had problems within months of owning it. First it was the keyless entry, then the emissions light, then the dome light when on when driving over a bump in the road. The last straw was an oil pan leak and engine problems. For spending $40K, this car was a piece of junk. I traded it for what I have always know to be reliable a Honda!
Long lasting car
If it has been maintained. Oil break fluid antifreeze. this car will last a long time. We have 337,000 km. Xc70. Burns no oil. Oil change 12000 km. Very little has gone wrong. 8-9 km per 100 on highway and 10-11 in city. Gone on long trips. Hauled 3000 pounds from Alberta to Mazatlan one year. Handled like a dream. 3 rd gear held it on the hills. WOW. The car is a 2004. Bought from dealer with 40,090 km in 2006. 2020 and no intention of getting rid of it❤️ Expect to get 500,000Km out of it easy.

Best Car I've Ever Owned
Awesome, totally awesome! This car has been a dream from day 1! Rides great, fun to drive, trouble free, excellent safety features. Volvo XC rules!
So little needed to make much better
A good practical car with much improved exterior design from earlier models. The lack of standard transmission is a serious mistake. The geartronic works but the lag in shifting and the difficulty in knowing what gear you are in is disorienting and limits performance. Driving is very civilized and secure, but suffers from lack of feedback to driver. The feeling is of a refined car being driven in accord with your commands by someone else, rather than a sense of the car being an extension of oneself.
2/3 the way through my Volvo lease
This car is very stealth; it performs way better than the image it projects. If you get into the turbo, it will leave most everyone else sitting at the stoplight. Very solid build quality so far (at 30k miles). Maintenance not too bad because the major ones covered under warranty, which they no longer do (cheaped out). Run synthetic oil most the time in it.
