Just bought a 2006 Passat 4 cylinder turbo. Gas mileage is about 20 miles per gallon in town; 30 to 31 miles per gallon on the highway.

I love my 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T even more than I loved my BMW 5. Maybe it's because I like surprises. What hooked me was the engineering of the little 4-cylinder engine. It is so 21st century. Turbo lag licked at last! That much power in such a little package never ceases to amaze me. This car is rock solid. My only complaints: the cheap feel of the hard plastic interior and a chronic high ptitched whistle from the area of the front passenger door at high speeds.

I just traded in my 2004 Passat GLS for a new 2006 Passat. Just when you think VW has topped what it can do, it pulls this one out. This Passat is the BEST one yet. It has kick but power in the 4-cylinder motor! The new design is AWESOME and the interior is roomier and the design Kicks. I drove the Audi, Honda, and Altima before this car. The only car that comes close is the Audi and you pay much less for the Passat. Go test drive the car and I guarantee you will leave the lot with one.

My 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T is great when it is not in the shop. Mine has been in the shop for five different problems in 7,000 miles. It is very glitchy. I am very concerned about ownership post warranty.

I absolutely love my 2006 Passat 2.0T! I am a first time VW owner and I am blown away. You can not beat the value, styling and satisfaction of this vehicle. I test drove a Honda Accord, a Nissan Atima and a Toyota Camry and there is no comparison. I bought a Mocha Brown, Package 1 and I look around the cabin in amazement at how upscale this vehicle looks. I can't wait to get the windows tinted! For the first time ever, I feel like I have purchased the right vehicle for myself and at an excellent price. I keep reading about VW reliability being less than stellar, I only hope that is a thing of the past.

The Passat should not be compared with some ot the cars it is being compared to. It is truly a European sedan. The design, performance, and fun factor are all evident. I can't believe the power that comes from the 2.0T engine. VW has hit the bulls eye with this one.

I am surprised that my 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T's engine is so powerful. I've experienced no drag at all. So far it's been the best car purchase I've ever made. Not only does it get great gas mileage and fit three teens comfortably in the backseat, all my kids' friends love it! That is a major feat if your teen thinks your car is cool.

This vehicle is awesome. Having 3 performance choices with the tiptronic 6 speed transmission, has made the driving experience an excellent one. Just love that refined German engineering. It feels and drives like a Benz. It has a good ride and it's very roomy inside. It definetely won't disappoint you!

After seven years of driving a Chevy Cavalier, the 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T feels like driving a Bentley. The interior is so roomy and luxurious even on the 2.0T package 1 model. The turbo engine is great on gas mileage and really has some kick. The only problem is that this car is going to get me a ticket, I don't even know that I'm driving 80+ MPH, it just wants to keep accelerating!

After looking at many mid size cars we recently chose the new 2006 Passat sedan. We were looking for a sedan that was roomy, safe, comfortable, with good gas mileage for our family. The new Passat stood out from in a crowed market. We previously owned a nice Mercury Mountaineer but the low gas mileage and constant rise in the price of gas was killing our budget. Even though we have owned the car for only a short time we are so impressed with all the features of the 2006 Passat.

I recently purchased a 2006 Candy White Passat. What a car… If I only had a dollar for each person who has stopped me to comment on the car. It rides like a dream, miles above my 2005 Nissan Maxima. The only flaw is the wind design. Driving with only the driver’s side window open is extremely windy. The airflow hits the window frame and pushes into the car. The new sound system has better quality sound than my previous 2002 Passat Monsoon system.

The Passat 2.0T with all the options is a superbly equiped German sedan at a bargain price. If you are considering an Audi A4 or a BMW 3-Series, get the Passat instead, you will get a car that is fully equiped with the size of the 5-Series or an Audi A6. The Passat has also a lot more perosnality than an Accord or a Camry. I traded a 2003 Audi A4 for mine and I do not regret it. A BMW 3-Series with the same equipment would have cost me $10,000 more, which is not worth it....

I bought this car used with 70,000 miles on it and so far it's been a joy to drive. As a college student, I enjoy having a unique car because noone my age has the same car as me. My friends are always surprised when they get in my car and find out how comfortable and spacious it is, not to mention how fast this car can go. I do have issues with the check engine light coming on but it goes away. I got the extended warranty so it's not a big deal to me. I've driven many different cars because I used to work at a car rental company and this is one of the best cars in its class. Also a great deal for a used car because of its depreciation. I'm probably buying another VW after this.

I test drove the car about 6 months ago, I revisited the dealership on a whim. I re-test drove the vehicle and enjoyed the feel. I purchased the car, not expecting to buy a car, and have not been let down since. I am used to the perfomance of Saabs and Volvos and I am not dissapointed at all with this car, more so excited to drive it every day. This is a great car with a great driving experience.

I can't complain about anything. I am in the honeymoon phase with my 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T for the time being. I have never driven a six speed manual, but it is simple and exhilarating. This car will probably not be good for maintaining my clean driving record. Several characteristics place this car above the mundane - the key fob, the rear entry into the trunk, umbrella holder (umbrella should have been included), access into the trunk from the rear seat through cupholders, lighted blinkers on side mirrors and styling. It has tons of standard features like power windows / doors / AC / cruise control / CD player etc... I'm hoping that the quality, reliability and condition will last. This seems to be a question mark at this time. So far, this car is great!

I bought my 2006 Passat 2.0T loaded w/ everything but Navigation as a Certified PreOwned. Long story short. In the first 3 months of ownership car brokedown once and needed to be towed (electrical brake stuck and couldn't drive), transmission issues, buttons pealing, rear door wouldn't close shut, Tire Monitoring System Failure, and the list goes on. Car was down 27 days in first 3 months and VW put $5200 into it...thank God for the CPO warranty! Not to mention this car stickered for over $30K and now they want to give me $12K for trade in...what happened to VW resale. This Passat when working is much funner than Camry or Accord, and looks better IMO but just not worth the HEADACHE!

I just traded an Expedition on a new 2006 Passat. I do NOT miss my gas guzzler one bit. The fit and finish on this car are very impressive. My wife has the Infiniti G35 coupe, and the new Passat is very close in terms of quality! This is my first German auto and will not be my last, I am hooked. American car companies should take a long hard look at this car, they have some major catching up to do.

This is my 4th Passat and certainly the most luxurius. No doubt VW is after a higher end market. Satelite radio, 6 CD in-dash perfectly diplayed and easy to operate radio with great sound for a standard item. The 200 hp engine coupled with a smooth 6-speed, no clutch transmission gives it a very subtle touch. The handling is pure Volkswagen: nimble, agile and responsive. This car has a stiffer and more solid feel in curves compared to my previous 2003 model.

Just signed the lease through VW Credit for 2.0T Auto with Package 2. Besides the Passat, my wife and I also tested Audi A4 2.0T, the new Jetta, Accord V6 and Camry V6. The A4 had more feature than the Passat, but the ride was too bumpy for our taste. When compared to the other three, the Passat is just better in almost every single aspect. It has more passing power, a more sporty ride that is not so bumpy, and perfectly weighted steering. Excellent interior design, feels very upscale. Good space for both front and rear occupants. The lease program is very attractive on this car!

This is a premium car at regular price! It has a turbo engine, 6-speed Tiptronic, all features you can think of - standard. This is not a car, it's a space ship. The Passat compares to the Acura TL and Lexus IS, but not in price - it is $10,000 - $12,000 less. It is a BMW without the price tag. Hey, Honda and Toyota, do you think for $22,400 out door for my Passat you can compare you cars to it?!? What are you selling for that money? Not even half what the Passat has standard. And this is the bottom - Value Edition! I have been driving VWs since 1993, and I intend to drive- forever! The VW Passat is a masterpiece, not from this world!

I own a 2005 BMW 530 with the Prem. and Spts Pkg. On 12/1/05 I bought a VW Passat 2.0 T Pkg. 2 with 17" wheels, Dynaudio, and mats. The car listed for $30,000. This car was for my wife, but now we seem to like the VW as we go out in it more than in the BMW. For the size of the engine, it is probably the best for the money. I highly recommend the car. I am thinking about getting a 3.6 All Whell Drive Passat with GPS ($40,000). It seems to run like a BMW 550i for $22,000 less.

Mine has got the Dynaudio sound system, wow. Based on the 2003 model, I expect this car to be as reliable. I got the deep black paint with black interior. It looks very elegant and classy. I have had several Audi's in the past. I would put this on a par with the quality level of the Audi. If it were all wheel drive, you wouldn't know the difference. It feels more solid than my previous A4 Avant...the ride and handling of this new Passat is second to none...extremely happy with the car.

This is my third VW and my 2nd Passat. My first Passat being a 2004 GLS 1.8 turbo. Last weekend I wrecked my '04 in a 60 mhp accident I walked away with only a small cut on my right wrist from a chain I was wearing, the car was totaled. The other car (a 4-Runner was a mess too) that being said I started looking around for another car to buy, with all the deals today IE: employee pricing and 0% interest I checked out almost every maker of cars in the $25,000 to $30,000 range. Nothing out there compares with a Passat unless you want to spend twice as much on a new BMW. The new '06 Passat seems to be a totally differant car then my '04 model. It drives much smoother, faster, it feels like a Mercedes-Benz. Try this car first!

Put simply, I am in heaven with this car. I have always wanted a fine German automobile but didn't want to pay the $30,000 plus price tag for a BMW so I settled for fine Japanese automobiles instead. First, this car is not in the same class as the Altima, Camry or Accord...it really is more in line with the Maxima and Avalon and should only be compared with those. If someone had taped over the VW emblem on the wheel and asked me to drive it without knowing what is was, I would have said Mercedes or Audi without a thought. This car is a class act, looks every inch a German sport sedan and handles like a truly fine European sedan. A loaded out 3.6 could go toe to toe with a BMW 5-Series. this car is awesome!

I was looking for the car with a good performance, fuel mileage, design, and dependability. And closest car I came upon was this redesigned Passat. I was satisfied with engine performance and fuel mileage but I had to deal with too many quality problems. From water leak, multiple check engine lights (some are due to same issue), noises, and paint peeling. I have filed for lemon law after VW ignored/refused to meet with me. After decided to take the settlement for cash and I traded for another car.

Best car ever owned. Bought for the safety features, 30+ MPG, four adults capacity and could not be more pleased. Using mid-grade gas, average 33 MPG in easy driving and 25 when pushed hard. No reliability issues whatsoever. Great driving experience feeling like a much more expensive car. Very stable and cruises at 85 without feeling sensation of speed. Surprised by the power of the Turbo 4; more surprised at the combo of power and excellent gas mileage. Major complaint is the original equip Goodyears slipped badly when wet / cold. Bought a set of dedicated snow tires for my snowy CT winters and replaced the summer tires with Continentals -- problem solved. I'd buy again!

Just got the new Passat few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. Interior design is impeccable, outside it looks awesome as well. No resemblance to Toyota whatsoever (some people saw Coroll in rear end, beats me where they got that from; put the two cars side by side and see for yourself). The 2.0T engine is all new and has gobs of power and great torque curve. The car is also very quiet, even at high speeds. There is no competition in this class for this car; Camry and Accord can't even hold a candle to it (Accord especially, with even A/C optional), tons of standard luxury features. Automatic transmission is finally up to par (previous models had annoying kick to it).

The 2006 Volkswagen Passat is very nice. I am very impressed with the new design of the Passat. I haven't seen any on the road yet, but I am sure that within six months people will come around to find that this car is a great bang for the buck. I put some 18'' chrome wheels on it, nice Michelin tires, and it looks like a beamer! This car is going to be easy to sell down the road. I paid MSRP, but it is ok, I purchased before it was released.

I've seen a lot of people mention the tire pressure sensor light going off all the time. There is a small washer that sits against the pressure sensor. Sometimes that washer gets bent which will let air leak from your tires. Ever since I found out about that and replaced the washers, I've had no tire pressure issues. The car is wonderful, fun to drive, comfortable, and solid. There are so many airbags and the frame is solid, the doors are heavy, etc. I love my Passat. There have been problems with the transmission jerking, electrical malfunctions, etc. It's a pain, but I still love the car.

I recently purchased a 2006 VW Passat, deep black with pkg #2 and Dynaudio and 15 miles on odometer. At the time all other car makers are trying to cut cost, VW came up with a winner. This is the car designed for drivers, not saving several pennies from each component. After 600 miles, still love it with no grievance. Shifting into the "S" gear, the car launched like a rocket. The normal "D" was programmed to save gas. Overall I got 24-25 MPG on my daily driving (no freeway). The Dynaudio stereo is awesome and I love the MP3 capability and the satellite radio. I wanted to get a united grey or shadow blue, but the black with chrome grill just looks so ...rich.

As a 21 year old I was stuck between sport and luxury and since this was my first brand new car it was a very hard choice. I drove so many cars, and I was down to three cars, the Acura TL, Subaru WRX STi, and Nissan Altima SE-R, but none of these compared to when I decided to just go see the Passat. As soon as I saw the interior I was sold. When I drove the car, I was mesmerized, I love the sound of the turbo. It drives like a dream, they have this car almost perfect. My friends swear it looks just like an Audi and my friend who owns a Audi A6 says it's identical in drive feel. This is the best choice that I could have made.

This car has great performance, safety, reasonable gas mileage, fit & finish. Volkswagen has hit a homerun with this one. I had the opportunity to compare this car to a BMW 325i and a Honda Accord EX on a closed course and fell in love with the Passat. I have always appreciated Volkswagens' appearance, but the car just seemed boring. With the intro of the '06 Passat FSI 2.0T this has become a thing of the past. I love the look (especially with the 18- inch 'Chicago' wheels). The car handles amazingly, I implore you to accelerate through that next bend as the ESP dares you to push it to its limits. The interior details rise above the competition with the Multifunction computer, smart-key, to the multi-cupholders.

Since I leased this car I've had the a/c compressor replaced (6 mo. after getting the car), 2 cd players replaced, steering column replaced (which I've read is locking up and causing cars to SHUT OFF while driving, so BE CAREFUL if you're between 55-65k) spark plugs, catalytic converter, and either the fuel injector(s) or coils will be replaced at 55k, once I on my own figure out which is actually faulty. I would 100% not recommend this car to anyone. I was so excited to be getting a passat but after all of this, I will NEVER AGAIN purchase, lease or go anywhere near a vw. My crappy 1996 Hyundai Sonata was more reliable.

When I was searching for a new car all I knew was it had to be a Japanese product. So I did test drove the Nissan Altima SE V6 (250Hp), Toyota Solara V6, and few others. I was set for the Altima, until I stepped into VW dealership (have previously owned the Passat) and test drove the new 2006 2.0T with the 6-speed auto transmission. This car only has a 4-cylinder engine, but it delivers an amazing 200 HP with the turbo. Everything is great about this car, everything it's in the place, great fuel economy, this car is simply a blast. The seats are comfortable (make sure you get a cold weather package - $200), there is almost no turbo lag at all, this car shares the same engine with Audi A3,2.0 FSI. Take it for test drive and see for yourself...

As a Volkswagen fan for many years, I was pleased to see that the new 2006 Passat still had all the great features that I had come to expect from Volkswagen. This new Passat also has many fetaures I wasn't necessarily looking for, but now find I can't live without, such as the cool push-button in-dash ignition system, the driver's side glovebox, and the in-door umbrella holder. It's also a cool and sexy looking car, one that belies the insane size of the trunk, the 30+ highway MPG, and the incredible safety and reliability. This is not only an excellent family car, but a great "cool" car as well, and I don't have to feel like a soccer mom just because it's safe!

The new 2006 Passat is a car with a lot of enthusiasism. The 4-cylinder turbo engine gives you the boost on demand for highway driving. The handling is as good or better than the more expensive BMW 3-Series. The interior room is great if you have a family. It has a lot of trunk space and the back seat has room for multiple baby seats. So if you travel with children the space is a big plus. The leather interior and in dash CD player add a nice luxury touch to this model. It is fun to drive and covers all the practical bases for family use.

I love the turbo because it gives this car the kind of guts and power that I was looking for. It's also sophisticated, but doesn't feel stuffy or buttoned-down at all; the perfect blend of classic styling and an understated cool. Smart features like miles remaining on tank of gas, satellite radio, even umbrella storage... someone thought of details here.

We were going to pick up a Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup truck and saw the new Passat on the other side of the dealership (same dealer). After our test drive we were sold! We love the car with the heated seats and the moonroof. At night the dash looks very cool with the red and blue allumination. And the cars handling is great too!

The New Passat shames my 2002 version that I loved. The leather seats in Package 2 are awesomely comfortable. I was sorry to read that one review mentioned the need for audio controls on the steering wheel. Package 2 has that feature and gives you leather trim that is luxurious. I bought the navigation system, anyone buying the New Passat should look into it. It gives you an slick looking display for your radio as well as directions to the unknown. You'll drive it and buy it. Everyone's comments about drive and performance are accurate. It drives like a BWM, Audi, Mercedes, or Jaguar. Why would anyone buy one of them over the new Passat?
