Fun to drive!

This car is fun fun fun to drive! Also has lots of great options, leather seats and black dash look great. I bought the 5-speed manual, and after you get moving, the power really kicks in, plus it has that wonderful solid German feel. I also prefer this exterior design to the newer, more rounded models. Lots of room too. Highly recommend.

I bought the car used with 60000 miles. I am over 100,000 now. At 6ft 5inches tall I am quite comfortable; when I go through the shifting of the 5 speed manual I'm having a good time. Touching the accelerator to get to 65- 70 mph is quick and efficient. I have some concerns about the electrical things that go on. I'm having starter motor ? or is it ignition problems? Does anyone know? The doors are difficult to open at times.I'v had some replacements up to this point; $$$$$ I enjoy this 95 VW car that has the body design that in not inferior to today's stuff.

Worst car I've owned

I bought the car for $3500 in 2006 with 130k. Almost immediately the car began draining my bank account. Broken items in three years: Windows, door handles, ABS light, interior ceiling cloth, cup holders, defroster, wipers. These are the things that I could sort of fix on my own or do without. Then there was the ignition switch (twice) ignition relay, brakes (twice) and a coolant tube connection. All told, I spent more than $5000 in maintenance costs in 3 years of ownership. The car also sat in a shop for a total of about 10 weeks over that period while mechanics tried to fix it, waited for parts, tried again, etc. Finally the fuel pump went out, (~$500) and I traded it in.

I bought this car new. It is a performance car with a luxury feel. Very limited down time. I think the design of the '95 is much better than the newer models. I plan to drive this car until it dies, which should not be for a long time.

Have had minor problems, but mostly because of the mileage. Have replaced all wheel bearings plus front axles. Brakes have just been replaced as well. Otherwise...not much. A strange occurence: the fuel injector stopped working one day, took it out, and put it back in on a hunch and it has worked for 4 months since. Also have had the door lock freezing problem (minnesota).
