tldr-Salesman Scott Harkins was extremely rude and the dealership wouldn't honor a written offer. I used Truecar.com to research pricing on a new 2020 F-150 and was given several offers from different dealerships, one being Kieth Hawthorne. I requested info on the truck offered on Truecar as well as on the same vehicle on their website. This was Friday night at 8:32 pm. I hear back on Saturday morning and am told that the truck is there and we agree on a price. I go to the dealership, which is an hour away, to find that they "sold that truck 2 days ago" and their system said I was interested in a different truck. Scott Harkins was extremely rude and said, "Well our system said you wanted this truck. That truck sold 2 days ago and you wouldn't get it for that price." He said they could build the truck i wanted for an additional $11,000! I had the quote with the pricing shown and Scott said, "Well I don't know what to tell you. It wasn't my fault, the system said you wanted this truck." I left and called the sales manager, Ben, who was really nice and said, "we've had this problem before...give me until Monday to make it right." That was the last I heard of them until Tuesday when Scott sends me an email saying that they know it sometimes takes time to decide, but they are there to help...no mention of "making it right." I purchased the truck I want from Fairway Ford in Greenville, SC and the experience was great. I recommend checking them out instead.

I got in touch with Lookout Ford in Morehead City in North Carolina. I was directed to the online sales specialist; she was fantastic! I was skeptical about the truck and asked many questions about its past, current condition of various parts of the truck, how it was inspected, and a lot more. She was quite familiar with this particular truck, being able to answer all my questions from her office rather than having to go to the truck and look. She assured me the truck was in great condition, and with all the questions, I believed her and proceeded with the purchase process. I rarely buy anything I can’t see or touch in person. I somehow felt confident to continue. She sent me to the, I’ll say, the office manager to process the purchase. Asking the same questions and getting the same answers was assuring, and some particular concerns I had were put to rest. The whole process went exceptionally well, and they delivered the truck to me via two great guys (two ‘cause they had to drive back home). Well, the truck was far better than I expected it to be. Everything Sylvia and Randy told me about the truck was spot on, in great condition. They were very personable and great to work with, taking care of all the details.

STAY AWAY FROM CAPITAL FORD OF RALEIGH. My first time working with a dealership any my experience was horrible. The salesman Jordan convinced me I was getting a good deal on a 2017 Hyaundai Elantra. 3 days after purchase im on the interstate and my dashboard starts making a weird noise. The general manager tell me to come back and let his mechanics check it out. They claim they couldn't find anything wrong. I was told to come back and ride with the mechanic and point out the noise. I went on the ride and didn't hear anything. The mechanic Bobby Ray said he told the guys to check the dashboard for hole but didn't know what they found. He said maybe I was hearing a leaf of the windshield wiper blades. I took the car home and later that evening my dashboard starts making noise. The next day im on the interstate with my friend and my dashboard starts making this crazy noise and the right side of my car. The car proceed to jerk when you take your foot off the brake . I called capital ford asked to speak to gm and was sent to voice-mail. Never received a call back. On top of all this i just check my credit and they put two extra hard hits on my credit. Now i was already approved for a loan with boa. i was told to give the dealership the approval code and application number and they could pull the loan up. well jordan and taylor, the f inance guy with a nasty attitude, tell me they still needed me to fill out a credit application with capital ford to have on file but my credit would not be ran. that was a lie they ran my credit twice and my score dropped 6 points. Im so pissed. I knew something wasnt right i should of got up and left. So they ran my credit for a loan i was already approved for 3 weeks ago with boa.
