SUNROOF SEALS go bad quickly and expensive to fix

On one hand, my Prius has been a good car. I bought it less than a year old and put 55,000 miles on it. It always starts and stops. Maintenance has — until the sunroof — been simple. It looks sporty. It does well in the snow. The mileage, however, has never lived up to expectations — I get 44-45 mpg. Road noise is very high with the Prius and is a real downside to an enjoyable long drive. I cannot over emphasize what a drag it is to have to constantly use a raised voice to hold a normal conversation. Now my biggest complaint - the sunroof. The sunroof has a weather seal — keeps water out — and rubber trim/seals around the glass. These are the ones you can see. The rubber trim started coming off on my car this winter. A little online research revealed this as a common problem — with an expensive fix. The trim seals can’t be replaced and the front glass section (there are 3 total with the solar panel included) has a bad seal too. Cost to fix is $2,000 because the entire glass has to be replaced for both panels. I have no choice, I have to fix it. I called Toyota hoping for some help. Instead, I experienced the most disrespectful and unpleasant person I have ever dealt with when calling a big company. Wow! Apparently, this is not very uncommon with Toyota. Bottomline: I am selling the Prius as soon as sunroof is fixed and I will never own another Toyota. It’s too bad. Toyota used to be a company that produced quality cars and provided exceptional support. Update: I paid a lot to have the seal replaced and sold the car before this happened again.

In life sometimes you make mistakes and end up buying a Prius. Overall the car gives you so much you can't really hate it like you should. It took me to New York and back with 3 huge suitcases in the trunk and 5 people 500 miles roundtrip cost me 20 bucks. It is comfortable for long trips and is very quiet. I am impressed with the quality of the bluetooth and the entertainment system and I overall like the interior and exterior style and design. It drives fine. It is meant to be the work horse that will get save me in gas. When your stuck in traffic life is great in a Prius the engine turns off. I had some issues with the car from the start but eventually toyota fixed it after a few attempts

After reading the reviews and inquiring with my coworkers that owned a prius, and assuring me that they get the 50mpg, I decided to buy one for myself and one for my daughter. Even the salesman told me that you drive it like a regular car. Well six months later, I now believe that i was lied to or the car was overrated on the ease of getting 50mpg. The reality is the car computer calculates 3mpg over of what I actually get, by miles driven verses fuel used. If you drive it normal you get low 40s. To get to the 50s you need to coast or try to keep it in electric mode as much as possible while everybody else is passing you. You stay busy and it is a head ache to drive it to get the miles. UPDATE. I have now owned the car for 2 years, I will never buy a Prius again, it is boring to drive,

Dash Board Is Impossible for me to read. My wife's 2008 Prius is much easier to read. Why do i need a 234 page manual for the Audio System?

I own a 2016 BMW 3 Series, 2013 MBenz and the Prius is everyone's favorite. It is all 10's in every category. 42.5 City and 54.5 Hwy.
