The best of both worlds
I have been doing research for months and finally decided to go with the Corolla SE CVT. Here are the criteria that was important for me: 1. Reliability 2. Safety 3. Power ( especially for highways) The Corolla was the best choice for what I wanted. I tried the LE model, which is still very fine but with the SE trim, you have a more powerful car more pleasant to drive. I can already tell who some pros and cons of my Corolla: Pros: -Very comfortable ride - Great look - Nice equipment -Peppy and fun to drive Cons: - Noisy - You feel a little bit more the bumps compared with LE If you are looking for a smooth ride, reliable and good looking car, you can't go wrong with the LE. Although, if you want a car with more power, you definitively have to try the SE.
Fun and starts everytime
I have had my Corolla SE since the fall of 2019. Bought it with 2 miles on it, now have just shy of 80,000 (December 2023). Pros: it's pretty fun to drive, fun for what it is: a commuter car. It has a sports mode and the flapy steering wheel paddles if you want to change gears on your own. Truck space is good. I can fit several bags of 50 lb bags of animal food in the truck, no problem or a few suitcases. Hugs the corners well. I have no issues with lane assist unless I'm driving 70 mph or faster. Cruise control works really well! Love this feature!!! The Hold break works amazing. Has enough get up and go to pass most people safely while not having so much that I drive like [non-permissible content removed] all the time. Starts every time. I have the fab and love it! Cons: Electrical issues. I've never taken it in as technology hates me but I do have several electrical issues. The radio screen will stay on bright as if it is day time all the time and randomly change back to dark like night time. Usually it only does this when it is dark outside. Not during the day. The windshield wipers will randomly go off. Sometimes just one wipe and sometimes I cannot make them stop. Really aggravating! Autobrights are so-so. It depends on how they "feel" that day. The back seats are incredibly uncomfortable. 2 people max should ride in thus car. Road noise, oh my goodness, do yourself a favor and buy thicker tires immediately!!!! I live on three west coast and we do get snow and ice from time to time. Awful!!!! Just stay home. Call in sick, whatever it takes. Just do not drive this car on snow and ice. Maybe chains or studded tires would help but for 6 days a years it's not worth it to me. I enjoy driving this car everyday. It is not a great car for larger people. My husband is 6 ft tall, he fits fine but prefers his truck. All in all I am happy with my purchase; however, I do wish some of the electronics worked better.

Just another boring small car
The car is small, economical, and priced right. It isn't outstanding in any category, but it isn't terrible in any of them either. I do hate all the electronics just for the sake of electronics and wish they were options so I could delete them. I'll drive the car. The only real complaint I have with the corolla, other than the horrible colors, is the electronic parking brake. We use to call it the emergency brake and that is its main intention. A few years ago I suddenly lost my brakes when my car developed a major leak in the lines. I was able to slowly feather the handle to slow the car down and then increase pressure to stop it. I was going down hill, and never lost lost control. The old reliable E brake was cable activated. I don't know how these electronic ones work, but it seem they are all or nothing and that is a great way to get into a skid with no control when one or two of the wheels lock up. Toyota maybe you should rethink this. The Sentra is better looking. The Honda is faster. The Corolla is just a good, reliable, solid little car that says I'd drive a VW air cooled beetle if they still made one because I have nothing to prove

MY HONEST OPINION ON 2020 COROLLA LE
First, the interior back seats are very uncomfortable with less head room than previous years, the fabric is on the cheap, front and rear, now 2 of the worst features are the dashboard with this computer screen that looks like a lap top hovering in the middle, reminds me of a Taxi meter, and distracts windshield view, poor out of sync placement, second blunder is the front grill, made in a honeycomb cheap plastic, unattractive and you can bend it back and forth with your hand, third blunder is the headlamps, they somehow extended the hood and covered the headlamps, which totally takes away the sharp image of previous years, fourth mistake is they reduced the size of the rubber templates on the rear of the car which makes it look cheap and skimpy, cost effective for them only. Worse yet, No CD player and No Android Access. The car is lower to the ground than previous years .Whoever was in charge of this redesign should be fired, very poor new features. I own a 2017 Corolla LE and was considering trading it in, but with this 2020 car, I am keeping mine forever. Tom

Had a 2007 for 12 years & 240,000 miles. Love 2020
Just drive it!
2020 SE CVT
Ride and handling are very nice, sports seats are absolutely horrible if you are fat like me. Happily, this is just a rental. The head rests jut toward the seat at a really pronounced angle which is also very uncomfortable unless you put the seat on recline. What in the world wear you thinking, Toyota? I also noticed the thumping from the rear brakes occasionally on hard stops, but it is not something that would drive me crazy.

Leasing a Corolla
So far the car is awesome to drive and the dealer in DT Los Angeles made this experience painless. Negotiations were done ahead of time, via email, text and phone. This probably cut 2 hours of wait time while at the Dealer.
