False mpg claims
I have had this car for 6 months. The mpg/epa fuel economy stated on the original sticker is way too high. I am lucky to get 17 mpg city driving; not on hwys. much at this time. Two local dealer's service reps. said they have heard similar, it is a national issue. The national call center is checking with them, but said not all of their cars will achieve even the minimum 21 mpg. One dealer reset the computer and tire pressure, still no difference. Both dealers said I have to drive it 5,000 mi. to see any better performance. That wasn't on the contract and I won't drive that much for the next 6 months. Plus the tank only holds max. 12 gallons.
Do not buy
Bought the car new and within months the radio wouldn't work w/ rear defroster on. They had to replace the radio and install new rear windshield. Two years later- same problem only not under warranty!!! $100 just to look at it when obviously the windshields are defective!!!!
Very Upset
I purchased the 2011 Corolla S with all the bells and whistles in March of 2011. I was satisfied with the car and was excited to have gotten my very first brand new car. Last week we discovered that there was oil all over the back of the motor. The seal on the cam plate had blown out. My husband, being very smart with cars, was very upset to find that instead of a gasket it was silicone. So either it was put together wrong, or it had already been taken apart before we got it. The dealership told us to brign it up to be fixed, so when I got there I traded it in on a new Jeep. Was not going to pay for a thrown together car. Plus I also realized I was not a car person and wanted another SUV.
Reliable, Affordable Sedan
We purchased our 2011 Corolla S with only 3000 miles in 2013. We have since put on over 100,000 miles. Sporty looking but boring. Interior is cramped. I’m 5’10” and husband is 6’. Legroom is tight. I use the car primarily for work and pleasure. Performance is decent for a 4 cylinder. Highway driving can be scary. Trying to accelerate to pass is terrifying. Acceleration is super slow. Handling is awful in ice and snow, probably because it’s a sport edition. We get ice and snow here and I white knuckle it every time, even with great, all weather tires. We’ll drive this car until it “dies” but I truly need a safer, every day vehicle.
Great car
Corollas are great cars & last a very long time. I traded in my older Corolla for a newer Corolla. I'm glad I did.
