Slightly Disappointed
First, I think Corollas are overpriced for being as bare bone as they are. Second concern is the quality. 1) Interior - I hear rattling noises every time the car goes over a small bump. Driver's seat is not stable in its position - keeps sliding back/forth when accelerating/braking. I already see the panels that cover side airbags begin getting unglued. 2) Brakes - very poor quality. I drive very carefully and I almost got into a couple of accidents since the time a bought the car. 3) Gas mileage - I do not get more than 25 mph driving in the city. I drove for almost 900 miles and I still see no improvements. 4) Low-beam lights are too dim to drive at night. There is a recall on that
Very happy
This is my third corolla, I just bought it this weekend, a big improvement over the 2002 model, very smooth ride, like the interior -stone color, easy to handle - easy wheel turns, engine is very quiet.
40 MPG and Fun to Drive!
We've had this car close to 30 months now and it has been great. The smaller engine is offset by the 5-spd manual and decent handling for the price. Not a single problem yet. But to top it off the mileage is great! We just completed a round trip between San Jose, CA to Vancouver, WA and put over 1500 miles on the car. I tracked the mileage very close and we got 40.2 mpg for the whole trip! Now I need to say we don't speed but drive the posted speed limit (55, 65, 70). We used A/C for a 85% and this total included climbing hill, mountains and around town drives. So obey the posted limits, set the cruise control and enjoy the money you save!
06 LE, auto
Overall very happy. Great mileage; 35+mpg from the dealer on the first tank, 39.2 mpg on I95 to Myrtle Beach at 80mph all the way. 36+mpg at 85-90 mph on the way back. Only problem is squeaky rear dash panels (plastic vibrates against the metal underneath.
Great car
So far, I love this car. I got tired of getting an avg 17 miles per gal in a 2003 4runner, so I traded it on this S corolla. In MD you pay 42 cents per gal in taxes. I just cut down the number of gal I consume by 50%. The car rides great, build is amazing. Interior and exterior design of the car is nice. There is a decent size trunk and I am 6'4" and there seems to be more headroom than the 4runner. I could not be happier.
