Used 2005 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
The Best of Many Worlds
I spent a lot of time deciding on a car. I was almost sure I wanted a Civic Si, but when I randomly saw and test drove the XRS, my search had come to an end. It combines comfort, very decent styling, excellent interior materials and build quality, and easily the most rev-happy engine in its class. It can be driven mildly, as it doesn't actually hit 170hp until high (6-7k) rps but if you actually enjoy driving, it's a blast. Love revving way up in 1st and you're good to go from there on out. Combine these things with the fact that Toyota has maintained a reliability record that with Honda has been on the decline, and you have one great car...if you're lucky enough to find one!
My Corolla XRS
I just recently purchased a Corolla XRS and have found it to be both fun and practical. I like the throttle sensitivity and 6 speed gearbox. The gauges are incredible. I don't like the (pretty much) solid rear axle, and the near SUV ride height. I would also like to see a telescoping steering wheel in time, as this one seems too close to the dash.
great little car
I drive 1000 miles a week every week and I bought this car for economy but was pleasently surprised with the S model for the improved exterior and interior. I have a white one and it really stands out. The real value to me was how little it cost to upgrade to the S model. I have 28,000 miles on the 2005 car already and it just purrs right along.
The Best
My S model has been very reliable. I had over 84,000 miles on it and driven over 35000 miles a year to work. I recently was in a severe car wreck involving 2 18 wheelers and my car got the bad end of the deal. I escape with only bumps and minor injuries due to the excellent construction of the Corolla. The car received major damage, but the driver's compartment was intact. I walked away from the crash and the Corolla was still able to run even with the front end destroyed. This is a great car and I will get another one as I feel very safe with the Corolla.
Great fun but also good for small family
This car is sport and very fun to drive. It is also safe and great for a small family. The Corolla is very reliable and pretty roomy. The paint on the vehicle is not the 5 coats that we were told came on the vehicle, we have a few chips on the front of the car, paint seems to be thin. Also, does not get as good gas mileage as we were told it would get. Overall this is a great car for a teenager or anyone with a small family!! What can I say it is a Toyota, that is all this family will ever drive.
