Trim level differences
The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is available in two trim levels: SE and XSE. Last year's Nightshade appearance package has been dropped from the lineup, though some of its features are available as options. The manual transmission is no longer available, meaning all Corolla Hatchbacks now use a 168-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a continuously variable transmission, or CVT, that drives the front wheels. While we don't always recommend a vehicle's top trim, we think the XSE trim is the best of the Corolla Hatchback's two available trims. The base model is a bit thin on creature comforts compared to the XSE, so we think the step up in price is worth it.
