You Get Your Bang for Your Buck!

I love my super white 2007 TC! I like the exterior and interior design. After I added the lip spoiler and limousine black tints, the look of the TC went from nice to fab! Those minor tweaks made the look sporty and high-end. Definitely get a lot of compliments on my TC. For people who don't know how much a TC cost, they thought my car was over $30,000.

13 Yrs So Far - Fun and Roomy

I bought my tC new in 2007 with a manual transmission. We are at 194,000 now and except for the maddening oil consumption and a funky hatch release, an outstanding vehicle. I still get about 27 mpg and still on the original clutch. Biggest repairs were water pump after a handful of years and alternator in year 12. Interior is nice and roomy. With the rear seats down, I can put my bicycle in the car and even put a 7+ ft fiddle leaf fig (wrapped of course) in the car with the hatch closed. Rear passenger room is surprisingly good - a little low but good legroom. For those of you that complained about the rattle of the moonroof, here’s the secret - once it is open, hit the open button again and it locks into another position and quiets the rattle. I just happened on this one day and was so happy because I hated the rattle. Problem solved. Moonroof has never leaked and is very nice. The hatchback latch release, somewhat troubling - I have sometimes had to lock and unlock again to get it to open. And even then, it is sometimes hard to release. Not the best. I can’t speak for the automatic but the manual transmission has good pickup and very responsive when you need to pass quickly. I am a bit of a lead foot and can say the ride is smooth, although a bit of road noise, at 80-85 mph. Seats are comfy and audio is good. Never an issue with air or heat, Still going strong. Cruise control, still working like new. Because of the low profile tires, the car isn’t great starting from a stop in snowy or icy conditions. It holds it’s own once you get started but rough to gain traction at first. If the car was still available, I would buy another. We’re it not for the oil consumption, I would keep this car for another 4-5 yrs. I truly love the car and it is very good quality especially for a car that was less than $20,000.

Not Much Fun

I really want to like this car, but I can't help feeling I made a horrible decision here. There's nothing actually WRONG with this car, it's just that after a few months driving it, I've realized that I've just bought a pretty standard economy car, the number one issue being that it's no fun to drive at all. It has good power for such a cheap car, but unfortunately it's suspension is way too soft, it leans too much in corners, and it's isolated from the road like a sedan, instead of a sports coupe. I like to hear some noise and feel some bumps, and I like hard solid suspension so I feel confident in corners. Put the Mazda3's suspension on this car and it'd be perfect for the price.

Now, first off, I am sick of people complaining on here about the mileage, yes, it is a small car, and the Corolla does get better mileage, but this car has a 2.4L engine, and the Corolla has a 1.8L on 95% of them. And, most people complaining are driving it to hard, that's the problem. Secondly, complaining about rattles? Well, when you buy a cheap compact car....that is what you get, thats why Mercedes cost a lot. This car gives you what you need, a GREAT sound system, PHENOMENAL Wheels, DAZZLING looks, SURPRISING Space and Comfort, and 60 cubic feet of space when the rear seats fold down flat....it is practical and sporty. This car DESTROYS the Civic Si, because the Si is more expensive..

The car is great for the price. If you're buying it to throw a bunch of money into mods however, I would suggest you move up to the Civic Si. The tC has two fundamental flaws that enthusiasts will have to spend a lot of money to overcome. One is the lack of an LSD, and the other is the glass roof. The glass roof makes the car heavy at a place you want a car to be as light as possible. If you're looking for an affordable, good looking, reliable, daily driver with a hint of sportiness, this is the car for you.
