Used 2004 Saturn ION Sedan Consumer Reviews
Saturn ion 3 is a excellent car
We bought a 2003 ion 3 in March 2003. We were so pleased with the car that when my son returned from Europe and needed a car we bought another ion 3 in September 2003. So far, NO regrets. I would buy again and recommend this car. The Saturn dealership is the very best sales and service I have ever experienced in my 40+ years of car ownership.
good car after 1 month
i have owned saturns before and this one is the best so far. not disappointing.
1st new car
Bought it for my wife to drive. Wanted to get a new car with low monthly payments. I'm 6'0" and I consider the car too small for me and the kids. I can't put the seat as far back as I'd like. She is getting about 20 mpg with a 4 mile drive to work. Electric power steering seems a bit annoying at 30mph range, feels like car is out of alignment, but fine at 50+ mph. We purchased the Rain Forest Green. The Electric Blue is a nice color but there was a difference in tone on the different body part, spoiler, nose, engine hood, doors it didn't quite match up.
first saturn
i was originally ready to buy a used 2001 saturn sl1. but with the rebates and financing for a few dollares more a month i could get a new ion. i was looking for a car in this subcompact class anyway. i need a car with trunk space and for the price i can't beat it.
Avoid this car at all costs
This car is one of the major reasons GM has been having problems. Within a month of driving the car off the lot I began having problems. I had to take the car back to the dealership every month that I owned the car for the first year. Every month was a different problem, and since it was not the same problem twice I was unable to file lemon law on the car. Problems include but are not limited to the electric steering failing (at 74,500 miles and year 3 that I owned the car, warranty expired at 75,000, when I was able to get car to dealership I was 200 miles past warranty so I was told by Saturn corporate that it was my problem), central computer glitches, faulty wiring to headlights, anti-theft device would lock car ignition upon inserting key in ignition during cold weather, and a problem with the crank case is what caused my Ion 3 to go to it's final resting place. The final year I had the car (Dec 2008, exactly 5 years from the date I bought the car) I again started having monthly problems and dumped a lot of money into the car.
