Buyer Beware!! Deathtrap! Lsuits pending! Read on-
I have a 2015 Nissan Sentra with only 19k miles on it. The transmission is already going! I was having major problems lately (and some at the 5k miles mark I didn't realize was linked until now). I've been getting loud thudding noises upon accelerating, metal clinking noises, pulling, erratic RPM's, a loud thudding sound driving down a steep mountain (Big Bear, CA), only able to go about 40-45mph up hills, loss of power when trying to merge onto freeway, gears switching (going slow) upon accelerating when trying to cross traffic, etc. (Dangerous!) I took it in to my mechanic yesterday thinking it was something hitting the inner tire, or some front end issue. After telling the owner/mechanic, he immediately asked if it was a newer Nissan. He took it for a test drive, came back and said, "this is definitely your transmission. Nissan is infamous for these problems with their CVT transmission systems!" He has seen this SEVERAL times, and even got rid of his own Nissan due to same problems with the CVT transmission. He nearly went off a cliff when the SECOND transmission went out on him. He said that I should immediately get it in to the dealer to have it fixed (I have extended warranty). I did that today, spent 3 hours there, only to have them tell me that there were "no error codes". I was shocked to say the least. The mechanic then took it for a test drive with me, and he heard the thudding noise upon accelerating from a stop several times, but the loud metal clinking sound didn't happen on the short test drive. I told them how I am very much aware of these problems with Nissan's CVT transmissions, because I did a simple Google search last night, and was shocked and disgusted by the hundreds upon hundreds of reviews regarding this issue with other Nissan owners. He then said that I can bring my car back on Tuesday (2/12/19) and they will actually look at the transmission itself. I couldn't believe that they didn't do that today. They just checked for error codes, which doesn't always show up when you have problems. So, they are now going to cost me more of my time and money to take it in to have it properly looked at, when that should've been done today, especially when they know full well of the CVT problems in Nissan's, especially in the time frame my make/model falls in. After reading hundreds of reviews in discussion forums, I see that many people are on their 2nd to 4th transmission replacement, and many eventually get rid of them. The problem is, even though Nissan extended their warranty on their CVT transmissions (they know why!), and you get the car "fixed", it will never really be fixed. The reason being that the faulty transmission will be replaced with the same type of faulty CVT transmission. You will always be at risk for being stranded, in a dangerous situation on the road, and always wasting your time taking it to get repaired. You can never fully feel comfortable driving anywhere, especially on long trips, up inclines/hills, or in hot weather, etc., as long as this issue remains. I still have payments on this unreliable and dangerous car until 2021, and do not feel comfortable driving it, especially with my children in it, anywhere. I had to cancel a trip this weekend due to this issue. I shouldn't have to worry about such things on a new car that only has 19k miles on it! I have owned several Nissan's, trusted them, and used to rave about the quality. Not anymore. Just do a Google search and find out for yourself.

CVT failure guaranteed
My daughter purchased a new 2015 Sentra for cash. She does drive a lot due to her job and has put just over 80,000 miles on the car in nearly 3 years. The CVT burned up completely and the car is immobile. There is no additional warranty on drive train or engine beyond 3 years and 36,000 miles. Upon reading up on CVT issues for Nissan, it is obvious this transmission is notorious. Many, many drivers have had the same experience as my daughter. The transmission is not repairable due to the technology used in the CVT. A replacement transmission is around $3000, if you are lucky. It is simply cheaper for us to get rid of the car to buy a replacement vehicle. Before purchasing this car, research Nissan CVT issues.

Transmission sux!
I've been having transmission issues since 12k miles and now I have just under 60k and now I have to replace the transmission. In the beginning, (around 12k miles) the transmission would SLIP, I guess that's the word I'd use to describe it. Anyway, I'd come to an intersection and when I went to press on the gas, the rpms would race as high as 4000 but the car wouldn't go no faster than 20 miles an hour. Twice I was almost in an accident because of this. I learned that I had to pull off to the side of the road, shut the car off and let it sit for a minute; I guess to reset the computer. I'd restart the car and it would be fine. This was an occurring matter, and I took it to the dealership and they couldn't figure out the problem. I had the transmission fluid service performed by nissan at just over 30k and the problem seemed to go away...for a while. At around 58 to 59k miles, I was hearing a whining noise coming from my car. I thought nothing of it really, just thought it was the air conditioner compressor making the noise. I scheduled an appointment to have it checked, and it turns out to be a bearing or some kind of belt in the transmission is going bad. I bought this car in Oct 2015 with 35 miles on the car so I'm the only owner, it's now July 2017 and I'm having the transmission replaced? Really? My advice to you is this, if you decide to buy a used 2015 Nissan sentra, be sure to get as much of the service info as possible on the car and if you're buying this car new, be sure to get the extended warrantee. You'll be glad you did.
Sentra SR , answers the call
First thing, If you want 0-60 times that will Impress your friends , look elsewhere. Power , is adequate , no more. I like the quietness of the interior , the quality of interior materials, and the car looks great. Had zero problems , no issues. I have not checked the mpg , and will not do so until I reach 12k miles. Same goes for final judgement on the 1.8L power plant. The CVT is not as weird as earlier versions I have driven. It does take some getting use to and this is my third CVT equipped Nissan, so it no longer seems that strange. My experience has shown that to really judge the performance and mpg on a car such as this , first you need to get them well broken in. As stated , this is my third Nissan , I keep going back because they have always been trouble free , tight and quiet. If I had a beef , it would have been the CVT, but I've experienced no trouble with any of the three Nissan CVT's I've owned. Not a race car , but a good looking, IMO , and trouble free vehicle that looks nice and ages well. Interior materials seem to hold up, and squeaks and rattles just don't seem to happen.

6 speed manual
I can now speak to the long term aspects as have only owned my car for over two years. When I bought it I could not find any reviews on gas mileage. I currently own a 2014 Camry SE. While not quite as comfortable and roomy as the Camry, it is fun to drive and in the in town mileage is 35.5 mpg. I like the cruise control location much better on the Sentra and it still is comfortable, quiet and the trunk is roomy for its side. At 50, it will get will get 50 miles per gallon. For an inexpensive car, there is no equal. I shopped Corolla, Civic, and Focus. No issues in over 2 years. Great little car to use around town.

Great Value
I have read many other reviews from very satisfied customers to whining and moaning/groaning. Its a Nissan Sentra, not a Lexus. For the money it is a great car. I am returning a 2013 from lease and picking up a 2016. I have had 0 problems with my 2013. Gas mileage is fantastic. I drive a lot, mostly highway. Average mileage per tank was 375. Pretty good considering other cars. I occasionally hit 400+ miles per tank. It is comfortable to drive, has enough features for me. I am pretty simple. Good radio, Bluetooth for cell phone, convenience buttons on the wheel. Folding back seats make good added storage. It IS lackluster in acceleration but that is due to the CVT transmission and lack of horsepower - this engine and transmission are built for economy not speed. Again, its a Nissan Sentra, really the 2nd level sedan Nissan offers (just above the Versa). Great car for the money. Best gas mileage, like all cars it is at 55mph. Don't expect 40mpg on the highway if you routinely drive 70+. Looking forward to the 2016 with added standard options like back up camera and streaming music via Bluetooth.

bad transmission
I was backing out of my driveway which is up on a little hill , As I almost got out to the street to go forward my car died, halfway in the driveway and halfway in the street. Its been in the shop for two days and not up and running yet. I am very disappointed with it. 10,000 miles and less than a year this happens. But better in my driveway than out on a interstate going to work and it dies in traffic. No more Nissans for me

Run from the Lemons
I have been in contact with them after complaining to the BBB and they still have done nothing for me. They sell Lemons and do not stand by there product. My car I bought brand new and is a 2015 Nissan Sentra and has been in the shop at least 6 times for the same issue yet they keep fixing other things when I know its the Transmission. They have fixed the throttle body, Mass Air Flow Sensor, and oxygen sensor and yet I still have the same issue. Car refuses to go above 35mph and then stalls and shuts off. This happened while my wife and I as well as my 2 young children were on the highway, I tried to get to the shoulder and it shut off locking the steering wheel, a semi missed us by maybe a foot and thank God for us swerved and missed us. This car will kill one of us and Nissan doesn't care. They said just keeping taking the car in for repairs, but no worries they will honor the warranty and keep fixing everything but the Transmission. People for the love of God do not risk your families lives STAY AWAY FROM NISSAN CARS.

Bought used 2015 @ 81,000 no problems by Pete in N
Of the 56 other reviews, it's my belief that car dealers should have a mandatory class for every new car buyer. No one reads the owner's manual and a pass/fail exam should be given long before a credit report is done to ensure that the only people allowed to buy brand new are those who, not only read the owner's manual from cover-to-cover, but that special attention is given to the gray box on page 5-26 and memorized verbatim. I see all the new cars on the interstates at above speed limits; no plates yet and shiny undersides, putting the gas pedal to the floorboard the first time it's been anywhere. It is no wonder those people are having problems! Currently, my 2015 FE+ is under 120,000 miles and not one problem! Not even in double-digit below zero weather in North Dakota or above 90 degree heat. Seriously, this car rocks! I was a little reluctant to buy it, as I had a 1981 Datsun 310GX and let it be repossessed due to two broken motormounts. This is mine and my wife's second Nissan -- ever. I feel for those who had a bad experience, but I am sure dealers still have clunker cars they could buy instead and run them into the ground, since the vast majority can't handle a brand new one.

Cvt transmission ad
Our transmission went out 60k. Cost was $4200 on a 3 year old car. Dealer was no help to try to get Nissan to help us out. I bought a new car to avoid high repair bills. After a few months the tranny was making the same noise. We trade that car and lost a lot of money because 3 dealers did not want it. Bought a Hyndai Ionic. There is class action law suits. I got my money back after 3 years. Stay far away from Nissan

Love Nissan and like this car but...
Have had a lot of issues with this car, A/C had to be recharged 6mo in, the carpet is coming up brought it to nissan and they ended up replacing the whole floor carpet... less than a month later its coming up again. The car sounds rough at times when idle specially at first start up. Haven't even owned the car for a year and the suspension is starting to make noise.. Great on gas milage and so on but these cosmetic issues are getting to be ridiculous. Update: Transmission went out at 90,000 miles Nissan was willing to cover 3/4 of it. I hit 107,000 miles AC starts failing again. Bring it to Nissan they say nothing is wrong with it even though it is blowing warm air. Bring it to FireStone they say it needs a recharge wanting to charge like $500 for it. Brought it to another mechanic and they say that the condenser needs to be replaced. At around 102,000 miles started having issues with the MAF sensor with the check engine light coming on. At one point the car could barely accelerate. Bring it to Nissan and they charged me around $300 for it few weeks later light comes on again scan the code same error bring it to Nissan light turns off and they see nothing wrong with it. Wasted so much money on this MAF issue and this dealership just keeps dicking around with it.

For the basic Nissan Sentra 2015
I love my car, but I have had a few issues. The first months I had it the left side of the steering wheel would not work. I couldnt change the radio station or make calls tried calling the dealership but unless they actually see it happening there is nothing wrong with the car, also the windshield wiper randomly flew off, also called the dealership but blamed it on taking it for a carwash, if that is true or not I would not know. But my biggest issue that I continue to have is the button on the key to open the trunk, that button is soooo sensitive. Anything will make it go off, I go into a store and on several occassions come back to an open trunk, when all I did was put the key in my bag. I have had valuable stuff in my car, its come to the point that if I wake up in the middle of the night I check up on my kid and on my car to make sure the trunk did not open. This has not happened just to myself it has happened to my sister so I know its not just me doing something wrong.

2 transmission failures
The car itself is ok but the transmission is total junk. Go to carcomplaints.com and read the horror stories like mine. Did recommended fluid change at required time 59,000 miles. Transmission failed at 70,000. Replaced under extended warranty. Now replacement transmission now is failing at only 49,000 miles. [non-permissible content removed] Have a friend wit a 2007 civic with 265,000 miles plus and still rides smooth. Run away from nissan as fast as you can. Shoulda done my homework. Now pursuing lemon law solutions or lawsuit

Never buy a Nissan again
I bought this car used June 2018 with around 50,000 miles. I had to replace the battery and even though it was still under warranty the dealership I went to would not honor the warranty and when calling the Corporate Office, they told me it was up to the dealership whether they wanted to honor the warranty and refused to send me a battery from the factory to replace myself. Now with almost 70,000 miles on the car the transmission went and Nissan will not stand by their product again. Very disappointed!

DISHONEST NISSAN
If your in the market for a Nissan Sentra, don't waste your time. This car has serious transmission problems as well as engine and computer issues that make this car a very bad buy for consumers. It also doesn't hold it's value at all. Mine is a 2015 Nissan Sentra s with only 16,500 miles on it and still looking like showroom new. I live in the mountains of Asheville North Carolina. I started having transmission problem s after 2500 miles on the car. It wouldn't go up our steep mountain ski trails at all without smelling of burnt oil and electrical smells. It would also stall out. This car is made for the flat even roads - not for mountain driving. Nissan usa.com, doesn't care at all about it's customers when it comes to this issue and denies anything wrong with the car. Nissan owns 75% of the transmission company and this CVT of theirs is the worst in American usage.

2015 Nissan Sentra transmission issues
I purchased this vehicle brand new off the lot in 2015, 3 years later and 76k miles later I was having issues with the transmission. I took my vehicle to the shop and sure enough I needed a transmission reconstruction. I am not alone, my brother also bought a brand new 2016 Nissan Altima, same issue with his car only at 63k miles just over the manufactures warranty of 60k. I purchased a new vehicle to avoid the maintenance issues that I would have with a used vehicle never would I have imagined that I would be incurring a cost for transmission reconstruction under 100k miles. Nissan was known for durability and maintenance free vehicles. My parents had owned Nissans in the past both over 250k miles and never did they replace the transmission. I do believe this is an issue with the newer models. This was my first brand new car and never again will I ever buy a Nissan ever again.

2015 Not bad total but very poor interior desgin
Pro: I put 6500 miles on my 2015 Sentra, I bought it new for $14K it has AC, AT, auto lock and auto window. Car runs good and (according to car computer at least) it does get good mileage (unless rigged to give favorable readings). it handles well with adequate power. One big con is the interior design: the center console between front seats serves no purpose, almost zero storage, no arm rest and very cheap cup holders; they did not spend a penny on this thing. The glove box is also useless without side walls every thing falls down when you open it. Almost no inside storage. Trunk is good and spacious, the inside (rear seats) seems to be better space than 2013 Corolla I had, if they had paid attention to interior design it would have been a better can than the Corolla. The car is worth 13 to Max $14K, it is not worth to spend more.

I used to be a Nissan fan...
I really used to like Nissans, simply based on appearance and interior design/comfort, up until I rented one for what was supposed to be 2 weeks. A few days into my rental, I experienced what I believe to be a CVT Transmission failure. The car lost 50% of its (already limited) power, and the engine light and traction control light came on. This was preceded by the car lurching at slow speeds (<20mph) for a couple days prior. I limped back to the rental office, struggling to maintain 40mph, and switched it out. All they had was another Sentra, so I accepted it. It drove normally for a few days, but then it too started to lurch at low speeds. Luckily I was able to switch it out with a different brand altogether - no way was I risking that happening again. Both cars had less than 26,000 miles. Aside from that, I still like the interior of the Sentra. Proximity key and push button start are nice to have, and the stereo is quite good for the class. Rear seat room is excellent, as is trunk space. It's also very quiet at highway speeds, and I averaged 35mpg. However, driving dynamics are underwhelming. Lots of body roll around corners, weak acceleration, artificial steering, and a fairly unsettled ride. I've driven several other cars in this class, and the Sentra is by far the least enjoyable to drive. The car seems to struggle when merging onto any road with a speed limit of more than 40mph, and the CVT makes the whine/noise even worse. The engine is even loud while going up moderate hills at city speeds. Slow/loud acceleration is common with any car in this class, but the Sentra is definitely the most noticeable, annoying, and SLOW. It's not like I'm used to excess power, either...I drive a 4-cylinder Honda. Between the uncomfortable ride and the reliability issues, and I would never even consider purchasing a Sentra. It seems CVT issues are prevalent in nearly all newer Nissan models, so I would steer clear altogether. If you're looking for a reliable commuter car, I would suggest something more along the lines of Hyundai Elantra, Mazda3, or Toyota Corolla.

Very solid car.
The Sentra is perfect in every way, except one: it's a little slow to accelerate. It's a quality car; there's nothing "cheap" about it. The best things: 1) economy (38 mpg city, 42 highway), 2) the ride (handling is good, the engine is quiet, etc.), 3) the back seat room (I'm 6'2" & 280 pounds, and there's plenty of room for me in the back seat), 4) the interior and exterior fit and finish are above average, 5) the maintenance costs are very reasonable. I just wish the Sentra was a little bit quicker.

Bad car, battery, transmission, and suspension
I bought a brand new car thinking that I won't have any problem for a few years, I has one year and I had to change the battery which the dealer doesn't cover the transmission has a factory defect, and I have to pay them to confirm it's the transmission, and the suspension is very poor. The paint is very cheap as it comes off just with a little scratch. It's good looking and the gas millage is great, but the rest.... I guess I'll go for a Hyundai Elantra

Nice Ride
I wanted a very economical ride, 40 miles a gallon, but it needed to be a good road car. Comfortable on a long trip. The Nissan Sentra SL is great. Classy looking and the leather seats are very comfortable on a long trip . Great gas mileage. 39 around town. I've gotten 40.2 . My 2015 Nissan Sentra. Leather, blaster stereo, great satisfying ride. I'm very happy with it... Thank You.....

Bought a 2015 Sentra
I bought this about 3 months ago, after having a Dodge Neon for 13 years, and I really like this car. I find that is rides very smooth and has a lot of room in the car. I also really enjoy the mpg's and the quiet ride on the interstate and it has plenty of 'get up and go' for me. I don't really need a lot of power but this car has plenty for me although if you are always driving in the mountains you may want to think about a car with a bit more horsepower. The trunk space is really quite large and can hole a lot. I am averaging 34-35 mpg in highway and city driving and I'm impressed with it. When on the interstate doing 65-70 mph I am getting around 38 mpg or so. I just find this a very comfortable car that is very smooth and quiet and am very happy with it. I only have about 3,000 miles on it as of yet so I can say anything about how reliable they are but I haven't read anything bad as of yet. I bought this because my wife bought a Nissan Rogue and we really like that car as well.

Tranmission went out at 84000 miles. $4,000 to replace and that's what the car is worth at that point. That's why the warranty is only 60,000 miles. Bluetooth quit working after a year. Speakers went in and out right after and they wouldn't fix it. Don't be fooled, cheap car that won't last.

Love this car.
This was my second Nissan Sentra SR. I previously owned a 2013 (first model year for this style. I loved both cars and both were leases. The 2015 had exactly the same options as my 2013. I had one recall on the 2013 and one recall on the 2015. Both were repaired by the dealer free. Aside from that I had ZERO issues withe either car. The 2015 was a more refined vehicle than the 2013. I see lots of reviews regarding engine/transmission issues although I only had 30,000 miles on either. Aside from that I had ZERO issues with either vehicles. Based on my experience, I would recommend and purchase the vehicle again. And I did. I now have a 2019 Nissan Sentra SR.

Get a Toyota
So here we go: our 2015 Sentra came out pretty bad. I think it was a car we intended to be as good as the 2008 one we purchased, but were quickly proven wrong. Our little lemon car (which would have qualified) has needed every line repaired or changed! We acknowledge we made a bad decision in buying it and now we have to live with it. It is very worthy of its 1.5 stars on car ratings, and we can't wait to pay it off and have it destroyed! But I do not agree with how we were treated at the Nissan dealership. I had to inform them to check the lines- because that seems to be the reoccurring issue. Yes, we called it before they did. We were told it happens when you drive it too much; A Ford only lasts 4 yrs and a Sentra shouldn't be driven at all! Good thing we were properly educated in that. So, we left our car FOR TWO WHOLE DAYS, not offered a courtesy car, BUT they did tell us they'd send a shuttle- they did not! We were NOT even called when it was ready, I did the courtesy of calling them. But they did manage to harass us in trying to trade in my crap car for a second crap car for only couple thousand more. Probably a total of 3000k in repairs. Ps my air conditioner is still not cold enough. So on my Florida tomb stone i've decided to be sure to thank the Nissan for killing me with heat exhaustion.

under achiever
the car has a poor suspension system, when a passenger moves around in back seat the whole car shakes, going over minor bumps you feel them. the transmission hesitates too much, it is not smooth at all, when shifting the gears you hear a clunking noise on an incline an on level surfaces, was told by factory auth rep. that this is normal, it sure sounds weird. Very poor axceleration. This car was new when i bought it in March /2016

CVT gone with 22,545 miles 2015 (bought 2016Aug31)
CVT is MAJOR weakness. Bought and serviced from Nissan in Halifax Nova Scotiawith 53kilometers on it (31miles) on AUG31 2016. Rust proofed every year, serviced, always serviced at Nissan and not a scratch on car. Hardly used. BUT CVT COMPLETELY gave out Xmas week on way to airport in Moncton from Halifax NS on trans Canada highway. Car was bucking and reving and almost stopping and then speeding up making all kinds of noises. Left me in tears as I would haul over and let transport trucks whiz by. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and truly terrorized at the time.. I made the flight and made it home to northern Labrador thank god for the first time in 3 years. The car was dropped off at Rallye Nissan and thankfully transmission replaced just before closing the last business day before Xmas or I would have been in a bind the following week returning home. HOWEVER at a cost of $6650taxes inc… There was a class action lawsuit re these transmissions settled in 2022. Nissan extended the CVT warranty 2 years for total of 7yrs or 140000kms.. I called customer service head office. Spoke to rep. Waste of time. Supervisor called next day. Waste of time.. I explained I bought the Sentra on AUG31, 2016 from a Halifax Nissan dealer and It had 53 Km on the odometer (31miles).. They replied the car was registered in Feb 2015 as a demo?? But who or what dealer keeps a car 18 months and only puts 31miles on it?? Regardless their reply was that the warranty extension was up. 7 yrs from Feb 2015 so too bad.. I told her that the car was bought from Nissan AUG31,2016 with 31 miles on it and that the transmission should not be gone yet and that they should have at least paid for the parts. No luck. Not very good way to treat customers . . Live and learn…cheap cars. Cheap quality and terrible customer service. Just reading off a training manual at a call Center it seemed. Live and learn..merry Christmas Nissan canada

Decent, would never lease again though
Honestly terrible in the winter, especially living in Buffalo. Traction was poor, tires it came with were bald after 1 year with just basic driving, it doesn't accelerate well at all, both key fobs died after 2 years and the dealership wanted me to pay to have the battery replaced.... even while i was still under warranty. only great thing i can say is very gas efficient.

I still never want to drive this car again (2024)
The car looks good, the interior feels nice. But my driving experience has been terrible. The acceleration is incredibly slow, even flooring you'll barely get ahead of traffic. Just trying to keep up with traffic you almost have to floor anyways, making the engine scream when you're really moving as fast as fast as others who are completely silent compared to you. Breaks are terrible, it feels like the car is simply too heavy for whatever breaks are installed. Bar of soap on a wet floor. It's how breaking in this car makes you feel like. Steering wheel feels very cheap. I never felt safe in this car. Like if I ever need to escape an accident, by accelerating or breaking, I'll never be able to do it. I also had terrible mpg of 25, eventho I am driving 90% of the time on the freeway at 65mph. I felt duped by the computer saying I had a mpg of 39, when my own calculations found that result completely bogus. I am cheap, I only had a yaris before, so I wasnt used to more expensive cars. The sentra just doesnt feel safe to me, I would only drive this car in a life or death situation. And as matter of fact, I sold that car 8 months after buying it because driving 80 miles daily, I thought I was going to get in an accident. The only moment I liked that car was when I bought it, it looked good. But driving it was a nightmare. 2022: I'm so happy I sold this horrible car. Never again! 2024: I'm sorry for whoever bought one of these. Seriously. Between horrendous gas mileage for the performance and horrible acceleration... . It would need to be the only car left in the world for me to consider driving this again.

Buyng & Driving the car was easy, dealing with WC
I would recommend this car. I feel that it is a good car for the price. However, I would not recommend buying it from Wesley Chapel Nissan. Everyone there was very pleasant and all were accommodating while I was there. Since leaving the dealership, which was about one month ago, I have not been able to get anyone to return my calls or emails.

Safety Issues
My wife purchased a 2015 Nissan Sentra SL in September of 2015. The gas mileage never did get to where the dealer reported the gas mileage would be. In March of 2016 at 7:30 AM in the morning a car ran a red light and tore the whole frontend off of the car. Some the damage was done on the left side of the car. Not one airbag went off during the accident. I decided to talk to the shop people at the dealership and they gave me a number to call at Nissan. I called and the guy gave me a 30 minute talk on why the airbags did not go off. They took my message and about a week later a guy called and gave me the same spill about a head on collision to make the air bags go off. Well what about the side airbags. My wife has whip lash and a sore head where she hit the door glass. I feel the car is not a safe vehicle. The frontend of the car was complete destroyed along with the left side of the vehicle. If you have to have a head on collision to make the airbags go off, then why put airbags in the side of the vehicle.

Nightmare Nissan. Never again.
Pros: Decent ride. Cons: -Poor acceleration. If you back off accelerator then press the pedal again there is a 1-2 second hesitation. Is dangerous at stop signs and annoying on highway. -Transmission slides into gear and can be jerky and slapping. No solid gear grabbing like an American car. -Paper thin exterior paint (hood is already chipping). -Glove box is huge, but it's mostly door with very little interior shelf storage space. -Car is drafty like an old house. Even with interior heat settings I feel the occasional cold breeze (not a/c). -Average gas mileage is 28mpg (rated at 33/40). -Telescoping steering wheel barely extends, I had to move seat forward to comfortably reach wheel. -Visors are so tall (almost 10 inches) that you have to duck your head to move visor from windshield to side window. Not a very safe design. Also, they're not long enough side-side to block sun from top corner on windshield. -Poor back support in front seats. I have to use pad or packing bubble for proper support. Cause you to slouch on drives lasting more than 5 minutes. -Heat control is very poor. Car will not hold a steady temperature; uneven heat from vents. I am constantly tweaking the heat dial. -Biggest con is that when I turn on the windshield defroster, the A/C comes on and you cannot turn it off! When you switch to defrost the A/C actually kicks in & the temperature drops 25 degrees. Literally! I complained to dealer and to Nissan and was told that this was normal and there was no fix. They said it was designed so the dry A/C air would defrost the windows faster. Who does that? Chicago in January & the last thing I need is the A/C running. (I bought the car in the warm weeks of October, who thinks to check the heater?) -Passenger whistles when there is a cross wind. -I can get around the lacking back support & short reaching steering wheel, but the poor mileage, noisy window & the incredibly annoying HVAC controls/design make this the worst car I have ever owned. I bought my first car in 1970, so that's saying a lot. -My first NEW car in 25 years, and I had to walk into a Nissan dealer. Never again.

Not a bad econobox
Purchased in Oct 2021 with 50k miles for our oldest daughter for her 16th for $15k and have to say its pretty nice. For an economy car it performs alright. Haven’t had any issues with CVT to date but have noticed that at 70mph when you engage cruise rpm’s tend to start fluttering to the point it makes us nervous so we wound up leaving it off to avoid damage to the trans. Car acts completely normal when not utilizing so have to be an ECM/Transmission programming issue. Car is well appointed with nav and lacks only a sunroof to be “glamorous”. Leather has already shown signs of wear on the drivers seat with it tearing (it’s not real). Patched and seems to be fine now. Hearted seats perform really well and keep that tushy warm!. Daughter has expressed that she doesn’t exactly enjoy driving this car in the winter here as it is FWD. Being a CVT on top of this only makes it worse with instant power available. One very poor aspect of this car is the passing power. At highway speeds this thing is dangerously underpowered and hopefully Nissan has since fixed the issue. It’s so bad I’d prefer to drive my 92’ Crown Vic over this on a 4hr road trip. Nissan if you haven’t done anything about this please fix… One should be able to pass on a two lane road with confidence…. The car does get pretty good MPG’s averaging between 30-32 on highway trips and around 25-27 overall. Not best in class but considering every other vehicle our family owns is a V8 (Corvette, Shelby, 6.4 diesel, and Crown Victoria) we tend to utilize it more when gas gets high. Outside that everything has held up and we haven’t yet encountered the dreaded CVT issue, hopefully due to conservative driving and regular maintenance. We did get a warranty on the vehicle so in the event it does it’ll just be the inconvenience and not the price. Overall I’d recommend to parents as a 1st car for kids in town…. Where it isn’t dreadfully cold and icey. If I could go back I’d look for an AWD version of an Altima or something.

Nissan CVT Sux
I have nissan sentra 2015 and only 128000 km on it and the transmission is dead now I am stuck with this [non-permissible content removed]. Nissan is totally crap. This is my first and last Nissan. Please be carefull and check every thing on Google before investing in nissan. Best alternate is Toyota Corolla,Civic and Mazda. Good luck if you are driving Nissan the chances are less.

Nissan models with cvt Trans worst vehicles ever
We owned a 2015 nissan sentra sv. First transmission blew we had extended warranty and had to fight to get a new transmission cause they wanted to install a used one. They installed a brand new unit with cvt and here we are again blown transmission. Nissan should've done a world wide buy back or warranty the transmission lifetime. How Nissan took all us consumers money and won't back these junk cars up and never got sued is beyond me. We have a 7 year old car sitting in the parking lot and still owe 2400 dollars on it and have no way to replace this. We need Nissan to step up and man up. I feel that all us consumers not to buy the Nissan product if plan on keeping it til loan's paid or at least last 5 years.

Transmission problem cost more than $5000
Stay away from Nissan cars. U heard that before I buy my car but I did not listen. I have been having issues with my car for some times but I never thought will be from my transmission. Until last week stoped working in the middle of the street. The issue is transmission is bad and need to be replaced. My warranty end at 100000 and my mileage now 104000. Nissan refuses to fix it because the warranty expired. Even though there was recall on the transmission but I never got any letter. Any way you feel you are driving junk car after few months of buying the car. You can hear the wind and a lot of cracks at the bottom. Stay away from Nissan. My next car will be Honda or Toyota. For sure not Nissan.

My First Car!!!
My family has a 20+ year love affair with Nissan. Now, that I have one of my very own I’m excited to keep the love affair going for at least another decade. The Sentra is not made for speed, but I find it responsive and easy to drive. Cruising is the absolute best with little to no road noise. The 38 average MPG is also a nice plus. It’s everything I was looking for in a starter/first car. I’m loving it so far!

OK so far.
Had the 2015 Nissan for 2 years and 34,000 miles. Only problem was a front strut was bad from the factory and was replaced under warranty. The continuous transmission took a little getting used to but no major issues. I've had cars that road better or had a more plush interior but generally speaking possibly best car I've ever owned. So far.

Not impressed with what's supposed to be the best.
This car is cheaply made, i had an accident at no more than 10-12 mph and due to a truck slamming on his brakes i could not stop in time and even pushing the brake as hard as i could the car would not stop quick enough so i hit the rear and the cost of repair was over $4,000.00 to the front end. The air bag sensor bracket was bent back but yet no bag was deployed. I bought the car for my wife but i personally would not own it but she likes it. it is a pretty car and the dash is great. we only have a 150 miles on the car and gas mileage is poor and not what is advertised. I wish i could give it back . I probably won't drive it again as i have a real car of my own, Dodge Challenger not a little go cart with sides. As you can tell i do not like this Sentra SV but it does have a smooth ride. I think it is a dangerous vehicle to be in if you have a bad accident as i have read other reviews of air bags not deploying anywhere in the car. the outside of the car bends up with very little force against it. My son just bought a 2016 sentra and i tried to talk him out of it, he has had it a week now and is finding same problems. I WON"T BUY another one. I would buy the Rouge however but the made the payments out of our reach and i think they just want to push the 15 sentra to get it out of their inventory. We have now purchase a 2017 Rouge and have a problem with a vibration in the steering wheel that i believe comes from the transmission but Ted Russel Nissan says it is normal, B S. it is very annoying when on a long drive however, if you use the sport mode the vibration goes away. I like the Rouge over all performance and smooth ride. I got rid of the Sentra. I will never buy a vehicle from Ted Hussler Russel again as i don't like being called a liar by the manager.

transmission dying @ 13,000 miles
just like the title states the transmission has began to experience shifting shock, something to do with it slipping gears and you can hear it rumble. after 1 year owning it and putting 13,000 miles into it the car has damn near totaled itself already. AVOID NISSAN IN GENERAL

Average car to me..
I bought my 15 Sentra brand new. It is now a little over 2 years old. I will say that it is a very comfortable, soft riding cruiser so that I do enjoy. However, I would not buy another one. Nissan needs to work on their CVT transmission. Mine clumps and groans from time to time. And all the time in stop and go traffic. Also it hesitates to take off most of the time. I also had to keep bringing it in for different sorts of defects. All in all, it has been reliable in the sense that it has never left me stranded. I've got 44K On the odometer now. I guess I'm just not a Nissan fan anymore. I think I would go with Hyundai next time. I ironically had an Elantra as a rental when the Nissan was in the shop again for warranty covered issues. It got the same good gas mileage that the Nissan does.
