Used 2012 Nissan Altima Sedan Consumer Reviews
DO NOT BUY AN ALTIMA
Transmissions in altimas are terrible. Mine started to slip and i brought to dealer. told me it would be 4k out of pocket for new transmission and no recalls. there alot of reviews of people having bad trannys in the 2012 models and nissan is doing nothing about it
CVT TRANSMISSION Is Worth Nothing
Purchased this car May 2015 with only 22,000 and Something miles. Well after only almost 4 years at about 76,000 miles I started hearing like a whinning noise which was very low but I’m the type of person when I ride I just love a smooth quit ride. Then at 84,074 miles the noise gets even louder but at this time it’s like it’s most definitely not changing gears so my husband and I take it to the shop and low and behold he says mam is the transmission and the last couple of years I have had to replaced many because they are so trash I don’t know why Nissan places them in this cars to begin with because the 2012 been having the most problems. Then he goes to tell me the run anywhere from 3,000 to about 5,000 I can’t pay that especially when I still owe plenty for the car. If I would have known to look up reviews on vehicles I would have done so. Give me my Honda back I had 0 problems.

smooth operator
i purchased this car used in 2012 with 21,000 miles on it. once you get use to the cvt you will fine that since it does not shift that the acceleration is very smooth as an automatic should be especially with the cruise control on and your go up and down hills. great fuel economy. on long trips with the a/c on and the cruise on i could get 38 miles per gallon at 78 mph. compared to my corolla the altima did need more needed repairs. the water pump and front wheel bearings went out at 80,000 miles. at 100,000 miles the a/c compressor coil quit. the brakes wore out at 110,000 miles and the alternator developed a bearing noise at 127,000 miles. while the corolla at 180,000 still has all her original parts except for the brakes.

My car go everywhere no matter what
My Altima 2.5S is amazing. Good mileage I average 25-28 mpg combine and with a bigger 20 gallons fuel tank I can drive up to 450 miles before refueling. The car is responsive when I press down the gas pedal but it makes that drone noise which kind of bother me every once in a while. Huge roomy backseats good for 2 adult full size, not recommend for 3 in a long trip. Currently has 50k miles already, yea I drive a lot.
Paint Defects
bought a certified used 2012 Nissan Altimawith only 7.000 miles from Montrose Nissan in Hermitage, Pennsylvania in Sept 2012. I noticed in March 2013 that my trunk lid on my car had defects in the clear coat. After closer examination They were real small specs in the clear coat that were starting to peel. Several trips to the dealership and endless phone calls to Nissan Consumer Affairs and still no result. The service department at this dealership is very slow when it comes to this issue. Nissan has very very poor service when it comes to warranty issues. Save your money and go buy either a Honda or a Toyota. This is the last time I ever buy a Nissan. Nissan you blew it.
