Overview

Fully redesigned for this year, the Lexus NX lineup includes a mix of gas-powered, hybrid and, for the first time, plug-in hybrid models. The 2022 NX 350h represents the conventional hybrid, pairing a four-cylinder gas engine with a dual-motor electric powertrain, and replaces the outgoing NX 300h. By nearly every metric, the NX 350h is an upgrade. It packs more punch, now with 239 horsepower, while achieving an EPA-estimated 39 mpg combined. Lexus says it's quicker too, able to dash from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, a marked improvement on the 8.4 seconds that the NX 300h required in our last testing.

Length and wheelbase are only slightly extended — the wheelbase is just an inch longer — but there's about 5 more cubic feet of cargo space behind the upright rear seats, giving the NX more utility than before. Inside the cabin, passengers gain more overall headroom and legroom, and there's a complete overhaul of the previously clunky infotainment system. A 9.8-inch standard touchscreen replaces the previous NX's awkward joystick touch-controller interface that we found distracting to use while driving. There's even an optional 14-inch touchscreen if you feel compelled to drop a laptop-size display in your dash.
The new NX still looks much like its predecessor, which remains a love-it-or-loathe-it proposition. The trademark spindle grille is back and more Predator-like than ever, but with some revisions. The checkmark turn signals are now incorporated into the headlights — which kind of resemble furrowed brows — and a new full-width taillight makes the back end more distinctive at night.
More power, more room and a long-overdue infotainment upgrade make the new NX 350h a compelling choice for luxury SUV buyers seeking hybrid efficiency. The NX doesn't face stiff competition, as most luxury alternatives cost significantly more, while more economy-oriented options lack the same kind of premium features. We're looking forward to getting behind the wheel to see just how significant the new NX's improvements actually are.
2022 Lexus NX 350h trim level differences
The NX 350h is available in a single trim level. (Lexus offers a sport-tuned F Sport Handling trim on the other NX models but not here.) Power comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a hybrid powertrain that combine to produce 239 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard. Standard and optional feature highlights include:
Which NX 350h trim does Edmunds recommend?
Lexus eliminates decision fatigue, offering just one trim. But two packages and more than a dozen stand-alone options offer an opportunity to personalize your NX 350h. We'd opt for the Premium package for convenient touches, such as heated and ventilated front seats and hands-free liftgate, at a reasonable price. The sweet-sounding 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system is also a worthwhile add-on.

2022 Lexus NX 350h 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Ours was assembled in Ontario, Canada. Stylish, easy maneuverable SUV with very good MPG. Even Lexus front grill does not bother me anymore, got used to it. Constantly getting 44-45 mpg on 17-20 mile trips while driving in suburbs of Chicago with AC constantly on. On mixed 20/80 residential/highway 70mile trips which we drive very often gets 39-40 mpg. Hybrid/electric side of the vehicle … feels more powerful when compared to our 2018 RAV4 hybrid. More silent and smoother ride also, but I would not describe it as a plushy ride. If hybrid meter is being kept on the edge between ECO/PWR while accelerating, ICE is silent enough, requesting more power brings loud noise. In most cases staying at ECO/PWR is just enough. Ability to change graphic look of speedometer is cool. CarPlay works flawlessly, backup camera has good resolution.
Now what is not so cool: Left rear view mirror has micro vibrations, saw that being mentioned in other review somewhere also.
Sometimes Adaptive Cruse Control hesitates to keep constant speed when passing big trucks on your right with passing line wide open. That is the biggest flaw to me. Did not noticed the problem when passing big trucks on my left side.
Lenses of headlights throw little shadow spots on top of the beam because of their internal construction.
On the purchase side - Robin Z. and Lexus of Naperville were awesome.
A little update after 2 years of ownership: the vehicle has 26K miles, all life mpg is 40.2. Vibrations of left rearview mirror are getting worse with age. Overall a good, reliable, safe SUV with good mpg. My wife likes it a lot.
Don’t be fooled by the name of Lexus

2022 Lexus NX 350h Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
We have owned this car for 16 months now and overall I am not satisfied with quality of the car. Like other Toyota/Lexus models built in US and Canada the new NX doesn’t reflect quality that Lexus once was known for. I have been in dealership 7-8 times to fix the issues but some aren’t even fixable like rattles inside cabin. Outside doors panels are not evenly installed and nothing can … be done about it. This is my first Lexus and will be my last one (including Toyota).
Pros:
Great gas mileage
Good power considering being a hybrid
Cons:
Uneven panels inside and outside of the car
Rattles and squeaks in multiple places in the cabin
Cheap material used (at least in premium grade in Canada) considering the price of the car
Random issues like shaking side mirrors and cracks in the interior glass trim.
I don’t recommend this SUV.
Update: I sold this car in August 2025. It was such a relief. The car was not problematic so much but it never provided the experience that I expected from Lexus once. Resale value was ok and we are done with Lexus.
Lexus need to concentrate on basics

2022 Lexus NX 350h Luxury 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
This is a great upgrade on the previous model but beware if you live in a cold climate. Lexus dealer has confirmed that the new model has a known problem. In my vehicle, in freezing weather I can’t open the drivers door or offside passenger door (RHD) or the fuel door. They are frozen solid. Lexus should concentrate on the basics, like being able to get into the vehicle
Fuel door getting stuck

2022 Lexus NX 350h Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
I've had a few problems with trying to open my fuel door. Had to take it to dealership for them to fix. Also at same time twice now, I was unable to add fuel to my car. It kept clicking off like my tank was full. My gauge said half a tank. Not sure what is going on. Love this car
