Overview
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that Lexus' sports car would be perfectly viable to drive every day or take on a long two-person road trip. Available as a coupe or convertible, the 2025 Lexus LC is comfortable, reasonably spacious, and not hard to see out of. The interior is also finely crafted with an attention to detail that will impress every time you climb inside. Even the fuel economy is not bad if you get the hybrid version. The V8 is the way to go if you want more of an event, though, because even if its performance is unremarkable when compared to rivals, it sounds sensational, adding a thick layer of character to an already characterful car. Simply put, the Lexus LC is special.

Edmunds spotlight: Hybrid or convertible, but not both
If the idea of a hybrid-powered luxury convertible sounds like your cup of tea, we regret to inform you that the Lexus LC isn't available as one. The coupe body style offers a choice of a V8 or a distinctive hybrid powertrain, but the convertible is V8-only. Why? Quite simply, the hybrid battery and convertible roof occupy the same place in the LC's body. That fact is also the reason why the convertible and hybrid versions have the same smaller trunk as the V8 coupe.
Competitors to consider
Frankly, the Lexus LC doesn't have any apples-to-apples competitors. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet is a more sharply tuned performance machine and isn't as luxurious. It also costs more. The Mercedes-AMG SL is similar in concept but comes only as a convertible and is far more expensive. (The base SL is only $10,000 more but comes with a four-cylinder engine.) The BMW 8 Series is closest in terms of price and body style availability, though it certainly doesn't have the LC's good looks. None of the above are available as a hybrid.

How does the LC drive? We tested an LC 500 with the V8 engine. The V8 sounds great but the competition has moved to turbocharging and more sophisticated transmissions. As a result, the Lexus LC is easily outpaced by all of its main rivals. Our test car reached 60 mph in a somewhat languid (for the class) 5.1 seconds. Braking and handling are a similar story. Holding 0.93 g around our skidpad and stopping from 60 mph in 113 feet are good numbers but are simply not good enough against the likes of a BMW M8 or a Porsche 911. The LC's tires don't produce the same grip as tires you can get on those vehicles, but the LC is simply tuned more for comfort and eschews any real attempt to be more of a sports car.
There is some playfulness in the LC's chassis but other than the occasional blast out of a corner, the LC is far more enjoyable at a more relaxed pace. There's enough torque to deal with the conservative shifts from the transmission and every gear change was dispatched quietly and smoothly. We'd strongly suggest shifting with the paddles every so often just to let the engine stretch out in order to savor the way it sounds.

How comfortable is the LC? The LC's suspension excels at absorbing large bumps and smaller imperfections in the road, even with the big 21-inch wheels (part of our test car's Dynamic Handling package). The suspension insulates the cabin well enough from rough road surfaces without making the car feel disconnected from the pavement. We found the Sport setting to be an excellent balance between comfort and control, with Comfort being a touch too soft for our tastes. Depending on the road surface, we noticed some tire noise and some wind noise at highway speeds. Otherwise, the LC's cabin is quiet and serene and the V8 engine always seems to offer up just the right amount of snarl.

How’s the interior? The big news with the LC's most recent update is the new touchscreen interface. Gone is the awkward touchpad controller and in its place is a crisp-looking 12.3-inch touchscreen. It controls most of the car's functions and seriously improves its usability to the point that it's just as easy to use as those from BMW and Mercedes.
Despite the low ride height and long doors, getting in and out is fairly easy thanks to a seat that's not overly bolstered and just about the right height. The power-adjustable steering wheel offers a good deal of adjustment and moves out of the way when the car's off. The driving position is excellent, with well-placed controls and a good view of the gauges and the road ahead.

How’s the tech? The infotainment system is easy to use thanks to the touchscreen setup. It also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and while there is native navigation that worked well, we preferred mirroring our phones to the bright screen. Voice commands work well enough. While the system is not as robust as some of the competition, the LC can understand natural language and can interface with the media, radio, navigation and climate control system.
Lexus includes a decent suite of standard driver aids such as traffic-adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance with lane departure warning. We'd like a higher-quality backup camera as well as a surround-view camera system, but the combo of parking sensors with a standard backup camera works decently.

How’s the storage? The LC 500 has little usable space given its size. There's a woeful lack of small-item storage, not even a decent spot to store your phone for easy access. The 5.4-cubic-foot trunk is larger than a Porsche 911's, but the competitive edge ends there. It's still quite small and shallow, with a high liftover height that makes loading anything more difficult. (The trunk in the hybrid and convertible is even worse.) The back seat is actually the most useful storage space in the vehicle.
The rear seats provide car seat anchor points for child seats, but access is difficult enough already. Fitting a car seat might be possible, but this Lexus is pretty much a two-person-only car.

How’s the fuel economy? The EPA estimates the LC coupe's fuel economy at 18 mpg combined. That's just about average for V8-powered competitors. Our car managed an impressive 25.8 mpg on our standardized evaluation test route, though conditions with weather and traffic were highly favorable during that drive. In general, we think you'll have little trouble matching the EPA's numbers.

Is the LC a good value? Even though outright performance isn't the major selling point for the LC, there are quite a few other reasons to put one on your short list. There's a long list of standard features and the LC's build quality can still show up its German competition. Interesting shapes and textures abound and just about every surface is covered with leather, and most of the switchgear is metal or feels like metal. Sure, you can find more performance in this segment, but as pure luxury goes, it's hard to find a better deal in this class.
The LC's four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty are just above average for the class. Lexus includes four years of roadside assistance and a year of free maintenance.

If you want the look of a high-performance luxury coupe but don't want to be burdened with an overly aggressive engine, brittle ride and all the other compromises than often come with high-performance capabilities, the Lexus LC coupe is a great option. Its low-slung, wide concept-car styling sets it apart from pretty much everything else on the road and the interior build quality further cements Lexus' reputation for excellence.
The downsides are that the LC will never keep up with your friend's BMW M8 or even a base Porsche 911 no matter how hard you try. But if you treat the LC like the grand-touring coupe that it is, its comfortable ride, sonorous V8, relatively affordable price tag and guaranteed exclusivity will likely make you forget all about its performance deficit.

Which LC does Edmunds recommend?
There are no trim levels, so your main choice comes down to the hybrid coupe, V8 coupe or V8 convertible. Beyond that, we would recommend the Dynamic Handling package if you're looking to the LC to provide an exuberant driving experience. Its limited-slip differential, upgraded brakes, rear-wheel steering and variable-ratio steering are noteworthy upgrades. Opting for a Bespoke Build would also be a good idea if collectibility or getting a higher resale price is important to you.

The 2025 Lexus LC 500 is offered as a coupe and convertible in a single trim level that comes with ample standard equipment. Both body styles have a 2+2 seating arrangement, with a back seat far too small for adults. It should be noted the convertible's rear seats are even smaller than the coupe's. 2024 Lexus LC 500 2dr Convertible (5.0L 8cyl 10A)
This car is perfect in every way. The curves, the sound of the eight cylinder engine Roar, the sleekness, the driveability, the gorgeous details, and to top it off I had a wonderful sales rep by the name of Evans who had an extensive knowledge of this wonderful iconic car.
