Overview

The 2025 Audi SQ6 E-tron is an all-new two-row electric SUV. It's based on Audi's new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture that will set the stage for future Audi electric models. Sizewise, it drops into Audi's electric SUV lineup between the Q4 E-tron and the Q8 E-tron and shares its fundamentals with the less potent but otherwise very similar Q6 E-tron. And that means, if you dig the Q6 E-tron but feel like 456 horsepower just isn't enough, perhaps the SQ6's 509 ponies will suffice.

Edmunds spotlight: An excellent middle ground

Though we've only driven the SQ6 briefly, it's clearly a step forward for Audi's electrification efforts. Being the middle child in a lineup that includes the Q6, SQ6 and (rumored, for now) RS Q6, it doesn't rely on road-terror performance to do all its bidding, nor is it a pedestrian model. It finds a sound middle ground as a luxury SUV with sporting intentions. At the heart of that ethos is an adaptive air suspension that can sharpen the EV's handling abilities at the push of a button. There's no escaping this SUV's 2.5-ton weight when cornering, but its 509 peak horsepower erases any concerns about performance with a claimed 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds — nearly a second quicker than the Q6 E-tron.

Competitors to consider

Given their shared platform it's unsurprising that Porsche's Macan is the SQ6 E-tron's closest rival, both on paper and in experience. Range, power and performance are similar between the two. Also consider Cadillac's Lyriq for its luxurious interior and fantastic hands-free driving tech. The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV offers a strikingly tech-rich but still opulent interior, and it has great range.

Which SQ6 e-tron does Edmunds recommend?

We think the Premium trim level will meet most buyers' needs. Even as a base trim, it's packed with comfort and driver assist features like heated and massaging front seats, adaptive cruise control and an automated parking system. You can also opt for the Convenience package if you want goodies like heated rear seats and a 360-degree parking camera.

The 2025 Audi SQ6 E-tron is a two-row electric SUV that serves as the performance-oriented variant of the Q6 E-tron, which is reviewed separately on Edmunds. It's available in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Every trim is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with a combined output of 483 horsepower (temporarily increasing to 509 hp when using the launch control mode). Power is supplied by a battery with 94.4 kWh of usable capacity, which yields an EPA-estimated range of 275 miles with the standard 20-inch wheels. Audi estimates a 14-hour charge time using a Level 2 home charger and 21 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using a 270-kW DC fast charger.
