2020 latitude, loaded. rides very well, very good acceleration. comfortable. and well made interior. transmission is perfect, not bad like reviewers said. much quicker than nissan of the same size.. i cant beleive uts nit the top rated in its category.

Have had my 2020 Compass (High Altitude Trim) for a few weeks now (Reason for the 4-star review) and I can safely say its better then reviews would indicate. Sure it can get expensive as mine did (33k) but all of the similar competitors fully loaded are. My parents loaded Tiguan, sisters loaded CRV and friends loaded CX5 all pushed into the low-mid 30’s when similarly equipped. Interior is nice but with a bit more plastic then some competitors. The plastics materials are nice however and it retains that Jeep feel if that is what your after. Some high notes include the booming Alpine sound system and the 8.4” touchscreen with the killer uConnect system. Finally the driving experience is wildly different then the reviews I read. Jeep has definitely done something behind the scenes with the transmission tuning since the review models were in the wild. It shifts like butter now, seems to find the right gear for the job and the engine is spunkier then I thought it would be. Sure a turbo charged 4 would be a nice addition but I don’t find it lacking for power and put the engine on par with what is found in my families similarly equipped CRV and Tiguan. Overall the Compass has those killer Jeep good looks, a better then expected driving experience, and class leading technology package with its uConnect system. If reliability holds up (always the caveat with an FCA product) consider this a 5 star review and consider me a happy customer. As an aside, as a Jeep fan the Easter eggs all over the car are awesome.

Rented and Pleasantly Surprised by Compass

Read several horror stories about this vehicle but my Trailhawk rental was surprisingly good. Pros: 25k miles on the odometer but the ride and handling was surprisingly good. Stereo with UConnect Car play worked well and sounded good. This vehicle was abused by previous renters but it was solid with no squeaks and rattles. Fit and finish was good and imo one of the most attractive SUVs on the market. Cons: 9 speed transmission is a little quirky in 1st gear. Similar issue I had in a Toyota RAV 4. I think it's inherent to 9-speed trannies. Handling around corners could be better at highway speeds but it's certainly competent. Overall mileage not the greatest but its an SUV. Can't expect much better Overall a pleasant vehicle

I've only had the Compass for 6 days but I absolutely love it. I have the Limited Trim with the panoramic sunroof, which is really nice. I'm really excited to see how it handles the snow in winter. There's a lot of things I like about it, but I don't have time to mention everything lol. All in all I'm happy I chose this jeep.

I’ve had my 2020 Jeep Compass Latitude 4X4 for over 16 months. In that time I have put on over 9800 miles. There was one minor recall for a replace bolt on the windshield wipers. Mileage has been satisfaction averaging about 24 MPG. The Compass has proven to be solid and reliable. The ride is smooth and in the city or highway speeds the 4-banger is quiet, and with 180 horses is quick off the line. The 9-speed transmission can be quirky at lower speed shifts, but this is corrected once you get use to working with the shifts. The interior has held up well , with very comfortable seats and the ergonomics are excellent. The hatch area is satisfactory and easily accessible. Would I buy another one, yes, but probably would go for an upgrade so there are more options like a power seat, navigation system, etc. The price points are really affordable with a range of $28,000-$34,000. I would highly recommend this Jeep.

While I was in search of my crossover I did lengthy test drive of trailhawk trim. Keep in mind my review is based on 30k mile formee rental (supposedly well maintained by a big rental company) Ride is comfortable and interior is “cool”. Infotainment is typical FCA quality, easy to connect and play, probably one of the best. Drive was...sluggish. Transmission is very temperamental and just not present to drive. Steering control is good but not best. Rear view is cut by big pillar on tail and could use 360 cam. It’s a great looking mini crossover and i am sure some folks love it, but it was just not for me...and used car price was as much as Japanese cross in similar class (I think MSRP is set too high to start)

Tire light comes on for no reason, radio screen shuts off, shifting lights work when they want, seat wearing at 14,000 miles. Have to turn car on and off then back on for everything thing to work again

I cant put into words on how excited I am about my new Jeep Compass Latitude. I traded in my 2020 Latitude (that I loved as well) and upgraded to the new 2022 totally loaded. All of the features that I had expressed concern about with the 2020 was reconciled and corrected, to make this version PERFECT!

Rented this vehicle for 8 days and must say I cannot recommend it to anyone. Comfort wise it was not too bad (drove it for 9 hours a day). It did ride OK for a smaller SUV and I got decent MPG (26.4 overall). But the transmission was HORRIBLE and unsafe ! Could not tell if this engine is powerful or not because the transmission could not make up its mind what it wanted to do sometimes? Pulling out onto a busy road , it would at times start to shift "all over the place" leaving you with very little acceleration to get out into traffic. A few times this was very scary; because when you have to drive in heavy , city traffic you need to make quick pullouts to get onto a main road. Also we drove this down thru the Smokie mountains and there was no way to turn off the Over Drive. Not a good thing when traversing up and down mountain roads. Kept up shifting (sometimes) and maybe if it felt like it , down shifting (when it got around to it !) I was not impressed by this SUV at all. What a cheap piece of junk

Before the first oil change the breaks started squeaking all the time. Not soft but loud! It took three tries taking the Jeep Compass to the dealership before they did anything about it. After a week or so of getting this fixed. They started squealing again! For a brand new vehicle it sure has been in the shop a lot!

I loved the size of this SUV, and it had options galore - not leaving you wanting. But when we took it for 90 min. drive the comfort of the ride soon disappeared, giving you the impression you were in an old truck. Be sure to test drive this one before you decide!

Leased a new 2020 Jeep Compass. First heavy rain the car shorted out and stalled on the thruway. Had in shop for a month. Loaner was same car. I gave it back safety reasons. I leased it for my daughter. I gave it back to dealer. The mechanic said they have had several issues and would never buy this for his kids

Didn't' think I have a problem with a spare tire. boy was I wrong. No dealer or website has a spare tire /jack for this car, on back order. Dealer stated at least a 6 month wait, several websites out of stock and don't know when they will restock. Truck comes with a inflator kit and air compress. Useless if you tear sidewall of tire.
Cheap Version of Cherokee

For all intents and purposes this is a Kmart version of the Cherokee. It really has a decent design and size overall, but try sitting in a Cherokee of similar trim (i.e. Trailhawk to Trailhawk) and you'll see why the Compass is less expensive. Actually I'd consider one of these if they offered either Cherokee's V6 or 2.0 Turbo 4 as the (only) engine--an anemic 184hp is no fun to drive whatsoever.

I've had my jazzy blue 2020 High Altitude for 9 months, and because of pandemic restrictions I've only put on about 2500 miles, but Jeeps can be weird from my experience. This is my second Compass (had a 2017), and they are generally similar. As someone noted in a previous review, for the first 2000 miles or so, the acceleration was somewhat sluggish and the gas mileage was pretty bad as I was getting about 18MPG mixed driving. As soon as I broke 2000 miles, the acceleration is much better, if not peppy, and the mileage has gotten up to about 25MPG mixed driving. My new Jeep is loaded, so I enjoy the ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and many safety features. But there are a number of quirky things as listed in a previous review that I partially agree with, but I have others that appear to be cost-cutting measures or not well researched for user-friendliness. The Stereo upgrade to an Alpine system is not worth anything. This "upgraded" stereo sounds about exactly the same as the one in my standard 2017 stereo. The upgraded system adds a sub-woofer in the back-end area, but produces minimal, if any, extra bass. You have to set the bass to full just to get any bass to talk about. That being said, the stereo does sound very good, but not worth the upgrade cost. Generally, there are many default settings that you can't change which is annoying. I hope we get to a day when there are no defaults and we can set everything via our phone... maybe the 2025 model. Other than the gripes, this Jeep is Awesome and has fantastic curb appeal! I don't understand all the bad "professional" reviews, except they are probably test driving vehicles with less than 2000 miles. By the way, maybe I'm alone on this, but I like the start/stop feature to save fuel. After getting used to the feature and its quirkiness, it works for me.

I don't have anything good to say about my Jeep. At approximately 20,000 the factory tires had to be replaced. 30,000(ish) sway bar, intermediate shafts, rack & pinion, PRND lights went out. Have had to replace the battery, auxiliary battery and sensor. Stop start message still on. Now at 62,000, brake pads are starting to squeek. I seriously regret purchasing this Jeep Compass.

I could list off 100 things I hate about this car but I will try to keep it focused on the biggest issues. #1) The stereo. It looks nice and fancy, but it is the worst. Like most people, I connect my phone via Bluetooth and listen to music or podcasts. Here' the problem. When you start it up, the stereo defaults to radio instead of AUX. There is no way to change that. It's a big deal and here's why. The radio volume is 2x as loud as AUX. So you start your car and the first thing that happens is the stereo starts screaming at you. Why they designed it this way is beyond me. And worse, they actually chose the worst possible option to set the default to. So every time I start the vehicle, I get an instant reminder of why I hate it. And this is just the beginning. #2) When phone is connected to stereo, I can listen to my music, podcasts, etc, but not a snapchat or IG, and sometimes not even youtube. No idea why, and no amount of googling led me to any solutions. You simply cannot get volume on snaps or IG. Hope that's not important to you. #3) Connecting your phone via the AUX cable. I have an android and when I connect via the USB cable, Android Auto comes up on my phone and takes over the entire screen. It asks if I want to install it. Weird since it already seems to be installed. I click no, and there it is anyway. Whether I want it or not, which I don't. How very intrusive and obnoxious. #4) Turn signal vs seatbelts. The beeping noise the turn signals make is so extremely faint that you will often times find that your signal has been on for God knows how long and you just couldn't hear it. If however, you don't put your seltbelt on, its like a bomb shelter airhorn going off ever 4 seconds, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about either of these things. It just is what it is, because again, who the hell cares what you the buyer/consumer want. Why in the world they would make a necessary turn signal alert so tiny, and make the seatbelt alert so obnoxiously loud and over bearing is beyond me. #5) A Jeep is not a Prius. Most people know about the cool little feature a Prius has where the engine actually turns off at stop lights to save gas. This Jeep tries to do that and fails. Or rather, its very good at turning off, but the starting back up takes a second or so, which is about a second or so too long when you are hitting the gas and telling it to go. Its not a smooth transition and has the effect of a 70 year old trying to play basketball. Let the 20 year olds play basketball, and let the Prius's save the gas. Jeeps, just be Jeeps. Oddly enough, there is a big fat button right by the cup holders that turns this feature off. However, it defaults to "on" every time the vehicle turns off and on again. So the designers clearly knew some people would hate this feature and want to turn it off. But they only went halfway because you have to turn the feature off every time you start the vehicle. Yet another constant reminder every time I get in as to why I hate this vehicle. #6) Headlights. It's 2020, and just about every vehicle has automatic headlights, or just the kind that stay on 100% of the time. Not this stupid Jeep. You have daytime running lights that are always on, but you have to manually turn the headlights on and off. It may sound like a little thing, but it's annoying as hell, and could have easily been avoided, and just adds to the list of stupid little things I have to adjust every single time I drive the vehicle. #7) Keyless push start, another halfway measure. Seems fancy at first, but it's worse and here's why. You take you keys out of your pocket and unlock the car. You get in the car. You're probably used to putting the keys in the ignition. On this one you don't because there is a button you push to start it. Now where do you put your keys? You have to do the awkward stretch out thing to get them back in your pocket. So what exactly is the purpose of this stupid halfway measure of a feature? If the vehicle had the bluetooth unlock feature where you don't have to click it to unlock the doors, it would make sense. Or if you could just put the keys in the ignition after getting in, then that would also make sense. But not I have to pull the keys out to unlock it, then find a place to put them once I am in the car. It may sound petty, but wait until its your turn. Its just another stupid little annoying thing to hassle with every single time I get in the damn vehicle. See how all these things add up? #8) Where exactly do I put my sunglasses? Trick question. The answer is nowhere. Yet another stupid little thing to deal with. Conclusion: I hate this Jeep. Every single time I get in it and start it up, I am reminded of why I hate it as the stereo screams at me, I have to adjust the settings on the gas saver, the headlights, figure out where to put my sunglasses, and fumble around with my keys. And God forbid I don't put my seatbelt on. My least favorite vehicle of all time.

We rented this car while our Ford Explorer was being fixed. This car does not compare in the slightest bit. There are glitches in the Apple car play that hijack your phone and music. The seats are hard and uncomfortable and after a 3 hour car ride my back is killing me. It is just not a good car and I cannot wait for my car to be fixed

Absolutely love this small SUV. We own several 4x4 vehicles, Jeep Wrangler JK, Chevy Trailblazer, Honda CRV, and Chevy Suburban. Yes it is small, with that said it kicks butt. Drove it on 4x4 beach in outer banks and it was awesome. Finally ,got to get it some snow and it did not disappoint! Decent gas mileage(CRV is only car that gets better mpg) and no real mechanical issues thus far. Only 2 complaints, we did not get fob-less entry. Having to use fob to unlock door and then push button start means we usually have fob in hand when entering car. Car also doesn't have spare tire. Car has exceeded our expectations and we love it!
