Rear view mirror troubles
Test drove the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.4L engine. I'm 6'1" Tall. After adjusting the seats, I tried to adjust the mirror and the rear view mirror would not move enough. The whole time of the tests drive I was bent up and hurt afterwards because the rear view mirror cannot be moved. Also the interior is so much plastic and in time will peel. If you are a tall person forget this car, if you want quality as well it's over priced for not much quality. I did like the cooled seats they worked great, but overall the vehicle is "NO".

New Sonata MAJOR Engine Problems!
Car has 1,700 miles. Knocking noise in engine. Hyundai installing sensors. Once sensor installed car went into safe mode. Read up on this. Do not purchase one of these cars. This problem has caused many engine fires.

Not worth the money!
I'm greatly disappointed by this car and the dealership. After 2 months of driving I started to feel very noticable vibration under the driver seat. The vibration gets a lot worse if AC is on. The AC keeps changing airspeed on it's own as I'm driving with steady speed. The volume up botton on the steering wheel stopped working after only 5 months. Took it to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong with the car and everything is up to company standard. That may be true and I gotta say the company has very low standards. They also said they will replace my volume up botton but because the car is new they dont have the parts and they need to place a national call on the part and they said they will contact me as soon as they get the part. That was 3 months ago and nothing has been fixed. The dealership also gave me an offer for an oil change package. After I purchased the package, I found out the offer was only valid at that dealership and not honored by other dealerships. Keep in mind I live in rural area and this dealership is an hour and half away from me, so I gotta keep going back to them for 3 years and theres no refund on the oil change package! The suspension system also sucks, you will feel even the smallest bombs on the road in your back. Very rough and stiff ride. Sometimes when I start the engine theres a loud clunk noise, but that doesn't happy often, so I haven't been able to prove it to the dealership. I will be writing this review on as many sites as I can, because I'm very unhappy with my car and the dealership could care less. Btw this is the victorville Hyundai in Victorville California. I have recorded conversations between me and the help desk technician and you would be surprised how rudely they treat their customers.

Sonata Sporty sedan
The Sonata Sport I bought is the best sedan you can buy for the money period! I own 40 cars in the last 35 years and I can tell you this car does everything you need and then some for less then 22K out the door!? I looked and research all sedans and even luxury sedans and none can match this cars practicality and every day usability and the most important this worry free ownership for 10 years (if you put only 10K per year. It has the right features and plus more

2018 Sonata a decent value!
Bought our 2nd Hyundai Sonata in July of 2018. It now has 36500 miles on it. It's been a real good car. If there's any criticism it's that my husband, who is 6' tall wishes the front seat went back farther. If your main driver is 6' or more, you better really test drive it to make sure it's comfortable driving.I'm the main driver and I'm only 5'1 so it's fine for me.You can't beat the price for the quality of the Hyundai . Everyone I know that has one likes theirs too.Their quality has improved tremendously in the past 15 years since our 2008 model.Friends of ours just bought their 5th Hyundai; 3 Accents,1 Tuscon,+now a Santa Fe.Each one has been better than the previous. Hyundai's are a great value for the money.

Hyundai means reliability!
Hyundai means reliability! Nothing is more important in a car then reliability and low maintenance. The Hyundai Sonata 2018 has met these two criterias. I have received many compliments on the luxe as well.

Loved the car until 69k miles hit
I loved my hyundai sonata until I started needing to change the oil every 3-4 weeks because it's burning through oil. Unfortunately looking online this seems like a large problem for Hyundai but they still haven't come out to warranty it and it seems engine failure typically follows. If there wasn't this issue I would give it 5/5.

Engine oil issue
I bought a used 2018 hyundai sonata from a dealership and it has 41k miles on it. Before the next oil change engine oil light comes up. When I went service it they said it had less than 2 quarts of oil left so they did a oil consumption test. According to hyundai its normal for car to use up 1 quart of oil every 1k miles driven. This is first time I am hearing it. Now I have keep an eye out at my oil level and need to top it off between oil change. According to the hyundai dealership I need to change my oil every 3750 miles. I don't know what to do. Please help with any suggestions. Thank you.
Very good alternative to the Accord or Camry
Very good ride. I own the SE model and I love it. Great for the price as alternatives would have cost way more. The only thing I would have prefered is if the features for the SEL were on the SE. Other than that, I love the car. 3rd Sonata I'll be owning.

Great vehicle. Can't seem to find any fault with it. Push button start, tinted windows, rear view camera, many safety features, sporty design with pinstripes. I especially like the option of changing to digital speedometer which matches highway speed limit signs.

Look at a horse before you consider a Hyundai
Purchased my 2018 Sonata Sport certified pre-owned with about 5,000 miles on it. Very early on I had the trunk latch fail rendering the trunk completely inaccessible until it was fixed. The last time it opened I was dropping a friend off at the airport for a business trip with his work computer and luggage in the trunk. Crisis narrowly avoided and it was covered under a recall notice; not the end of the world. Other generally small odds and ends issues have come up along the way that I would be understanding if they happened with any car; to Hyundai’s credit everything that should have been covered under warranty was always taken care of. Fast forward to around the start of this summer circa the 45,000 mile mark. A few months ago the oil light began flickering every so often and upon checking the oil I found the level to be concerningly low. I brought it to a mechanic who was more concerned the light wasn’t staying illuminated despite how low the oil level was. He found no evidence of leaking and suggested bringing it to Hyundai to have it checked for excessive oil consumption. After some research I found there is currently a class action lawsuit against Hyundai for certain engines consuming excessive oil, this one included. I brought it to my local dealership, turned over the vehicles complete maintenance history per their request to prove routine maintenance was complied with including oil changes at recommended intervals, and the car was entered into the “Engine Oil Consumption Program”. This is a 2 part process; they take it and do an initial test, then give it back and you drive 1,000 miles before giving it back to them to do another test and see how much oil was consumed. After getting the car back initially and driving about 500 miles, the starter then failed on my way home from work and stopping for food at night in a not so great part of town. Luckily I was able to get someone to pick me up and had the car towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership for repairs. The next day Hyundai called me to say that because the car is in the oil consumption program, only the dealership performing the consumption test was authorized to make any repairs and it would need to be towed again there. Not happy, but I did what they said. The starter was fixed and paid for out of pocket (warranty now expired), and to my surprise they advised they completed the oil consumption test and stated the engine was not consuming excessive oil, despite being only halfway through the 1,000 miles it was supposed to be. Not happy again, but I was told to bring it back if the oil level prematurely went low again. Care to guess where this goes? About a month later that pesky oil light came back and the dipstick read low. Dropped my car back off at the dealer and was again placed into the oil consumption testing program. When I picked the car up, they notified me they added 2.9 quarts of oil to bring it back to full with the same instructions to bring it back after 1,000 miles or when the dipstick read low. Ugg, here we go again. I picked the car up, overly optimistic the car would make it through the test this time and prove our point. Then about 100 miles later, the SRS (airbag) light came on. Back to see my friends at Hyundai (they ask about my family members who are routinely picking me up from their service center, what else would you call them?). Got the call today that the driver side airbag has a short circuit and the cost to fix is a slim $1,300. I write this review with yet again no car available to get to work with, faced with yet another costly repair bill for another item that should not fail this early on a vehicle’s life if ever at all, with the looming thought of facing another expense for a premature engine replacement if Hyundai does not accept responsibility for the oil consumption issue. I haven’t even reached 50,000 miles yet and do not plan on sticking around to find out what the future holds. My Hyundai experience has absolutely been one and done. My purchase decision was primarily driven by my desire for a no-frills car that moved me from A to B, and I ended up with something Fisher-Price® would have rejected in quality control and is costing me an exorbitant amount of money in repair bills and time away from work. Absolute lemon of a vehicle.
Lots of safety features.
Turbo gives plenty of pickup. Ride is much improved over previous years. Lots of electronics and safety features. Great car.

Defective Engine and Body Paint
In 2020 I purchased a 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T and am the second owner of the vehicle. At the time it had approximately 43K miles. The features of the car are very nice, which is why I gave this car 2 stars and not just 1. In 2023, when the car reached about 67K miles, I began to notice the car was consuming more oil than normal. I use full synthetic motor oil and a premium filter, and change them both at 5K months even though the oil and filter both are rated for 20K miles. Since then I have noticed the odor of burning motor oil coming from the engine compartment each time I have driven the car. There is no noticeable leak, but the car is clearly leaking oil because I can smell the burned oil. This is more severe than Hyundai's claim that it is normal for these models to consume 1 quart of oil between oil changes. It isn't consuming the oil, it's leaking oil. To top it off, in June of 2023 it became apparent that they also used inferior paint on the vehicle. At that time the paint began to flake off in huge pieces. The primer was intact but the paint continues to flake off regularly since I drive on the highway regularly too and from work. Both of these issues are well known as I have discovered many complaints online. Hyundai has yet to take responsibility for using inferior engine parts that lead to oil leaks. Flaking paint I can deal with, but there is no reason a car should start leaking oil 5 years after being manufactured with less than 70K miles. Plus the Limited 2.0T is supposed to be a luxury model copared to the base model. Unfortunately Kentucky has some of the most lax lemon laws compared to other states. At this point it appears my options are to pay to repair the car myself, or attempt selling it which would likely be difficult. Before this I had a 2014 Hyundai Sonata Limited and never had any issues. I sold it in 2020 with approximately 65K miles on it. Within a few months, the person I sold it to, informed me the engine of the car randomly seized and locked up while they were driving. The car had plenty of oil and had properly maintained. The dealership told them it was a known issue for that specific engine model and they were able to get the engine replaced at the expense of Hyundai. It doesn't make sense why Hyundai won't pay to fix the oil leak to prevent a similar scenario on the 2018 model. That would be far cheaper than replacing an engine. Hyundai clearly doesn't appreciate their consumer base. I will never buy another Hyundai again and will discourage anyone from evrr buying a Hyundai or Kia.

Engine Exploded after Warranty Upgrades
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this vehicle for its features and ride. I just wish Hyundai wasn't so terrible at taking responsibility over their cars in at least the SF Bay Area dealerships. I got it barely used (was a Hyundai Dealer employee car so it only stayed in Hyundai) at 13k miles. I just barely got over 23K miles having done the oil on time and such. Low and behold the engine explodes not long after a warranty ESM engine control unit upgrade with no engine light indicator. They want to blame me despite all their paperwork says I have taken good care of the car and that the only time I didn't have it was IN THEIR HANDS. They also told me the engine exploding from oil getting in the engine is common and their warranty will take care of it under 100k miles yet will try anything to weasle their way out of it. I am planning to dump this care anyways for an AWD when I move to snowy lands but this takes the cake.

Great car, but....
I love my 2018 Hyundai sonata SEL Plus. It has 54,000 miles, and has run flawlessly except for one thing. At 40,000 mi it started burning a lot of oil. It was not leaking, it was burning oil. It lost a quart every 740 miles. The Hyundai dealer had me come back every thousand miles for three times to measure its oil loss. Eventually they saw it was losing more than a quart every thousand miles, which was the cutoff point. They then paid for a very strong cleaning with solvent of the engine and if that did not work they would replace my engine free of charge due to class action lawsuit settlements. The solvent cleaning actually worked and now it only loses a court every 2,000 mi. Not ideal but I can live with that. Other than that I really like the car. They have also extended the engine warranty to cover this. All this extra service and warranty extension only occur because of class action lawsuits. Hyundai denied there was a problem for a couple of years and was not at all helpful until they were forced to do so. Giving the history of Hyundai oil consumption I'm not sure if I would buy another one. But other than that, I really like the car. (Reminds me of the old joke: other than that Mrs Lincoln how did you enjoy the show...)

LOVING IT !
We have only had this car a little over a month, but so far loving it. The Hyundai Blue Link is wonderful, and comes with a free three year subscription upon purchasing the car. I think the dealer told me it cost around $100 dollars a year if we decide to subscribe yearly at the end of the free three year service. I do wish it came equipped with some sort of automatic forward braking system. That is the only safety feature I feel is missing. Acceleration is fine, but I'm having to get use to the accelerator. It's a little stiff when you first apply the accelerator. It tends to loosens up all at once, but I think the operator is a part of that issue. This is our second Hyundai. One of the best warranties out there. This car is replacing a Ford Fusion which was unfortunately total in an accident. It beats the pants of the Fusion in every category. You could just tell the Fusion was going to be a maintenance/reliability nightmare after a few years. However the Fusion did keep my wife and 6 year old son safe, and unharmed in a very bad accident. Manufacturers keep making smaller slanted windows which is causing huge blind spots. They try to make up for this with blind spot safety features. Visibility of this sport version is awesome. We could have bought an SUV at the same cost of this sport trim level, but my wife prefers sedans. Cost is a little on the heavy side for a sedan. Especially considering the market on sedans is in such a large decline over SUVs. We have had our other Sonata 10 years with no problems, and I still drive it daily to work. Hopefully we will get the same life out of this new version.

Highly Recommend!
This is my second Sonata (2018 SEL). I traded a '17 Sonata SE with just 37,000 miles and zero problems. I just liked the looks of the '18 better. Plus I heard that handling had been improved. So far I like the '18 very much but a few things disappoint me. The CD player is gone. The built in audio storage (my music) is gone. No grab handle on the trunk lid. No light in the glove box. But I can definitely feel the improved steering and better straight line tracking. EDIT: After 18 months and 38,000 miles I'm still very happy with this car. I did replace the tires about 1000 miles ago because the original tires had become noisy at highway speeds. The new tires are Falken ST80 215/55R17. The noise is gone and much improved handling. Tip: if youre driving your Sonata through hilly country with winding roads (like Missouri Ozarks) put it in Sport Mode. Its greatly improves the handling and keeps the transmission in lower gear which prevents the engine from lugging. Edit: 11/28/20 .... alas I have traded my '18 Sonata for a '21 Sonata. There was nothing wrong with the car. Still ran a d drove fine. But I wanted the new technology of the latest model. My '18 had 50,000 miles when I traded it. The dealer put it right on their pre-owned lot.

1000 miles so far and I can't believe it's a Hyundai. Stylish, responsive and comfortable
6 Month Update on the Limited Sonata
The car has so far been completely what we expected. It is reliable and it not a challenge to drive it. The car was purchased for my wife who is not a motorhead. She is completely satisfied with how it performs with the exception of some of the technology. She does not care for the lane keeping or the adaptive cruise control. I on the other hand have learned how to use it and I love it. It takes some getting used to for sure. We recently did a 1200 mile trip and averaged 36-37 MPG. It was comfortable and held the road well in several heavy rainstorms. One item I don't care for is the lack of a storage area behind the driver's seat. There is one behind the passenger side however. The passenger can not reach the storage area and the driver should not be searching around while he/she is driving. Otherwise the car is fine. Anyone looking at a sedan is doing themselves a disservice by not comparing.

Middle console is a delight has so much space to put my things there besides the two cup holders. The front grill looks so nice. It’s a very nice car overall, whether you’re driving on comfort mode and relaxing or sport mode and speeding or even Eco mode to save gas. It’s good for traveling a little too good!
