Great commuter!

I bought this car new when I could not find a cheap, reliable commuter on the used market and have been 100% pleased with my purchase. Comfortable on long drives as well as around town. Only nonscheduled maintenance has been for O2 sensor and noisy visors. Both were fixed with no problems by the dealership. This is a great first car for those looking for one or a great commuter.

10 years ago Hyundai was the laughing stock of the auto industry. Today, Hyundai is changing the face of automobiles offering quality products with incredible warranties. I purchased this car for gradutation and I could not be happier. Afforadble payments and cheap full coverage insurance will keep me in the green with the rise of gas prices. I recommed these vehicles to anyone who wants a safe, fun to drive vehicle that won't break the bank.

So far, so good! Love the car...looks ALOT better than the 97 Elantra we traded in for it! Little funny acting in 3rd gear around town..kinda quirky or something, but straightens out at 2000 rpms. Only 1200 miles on it now, but so far this car's very good! I'd recommend one to anyone looking for a smaller family vehicle, without any worries.

Let me just say that this has been a GREAT first car. I received this car as a hand me down from a careless previous owner who neglected it to the fullest. After giving it some much needed TLC and replacing many worn out parts, she was ready to take on the road again. Never once left me stranded. The engine is small and not very powerful, but is well built and can last a long time. Can’t say the same about the transmission; it is very fragile and needs to be taken extreme care of. Sadly, the transmission needed a full rebuild at 120k miles, but I’m sure a lot of this was due in part to the carelessness of the previous owner. The car now has 160k and shows no sign of wearing out. Maintenance was pretty inexpensive, but the car does use a timing belt and since the engine is an interference engine, the belt needs to be replaced every 60k. This is an expensive job and was my only real gripe with the car. If you are looking for an inexpensive vehicle, I highly recommend this one. I’d say it is comparable in reliability to Honda and Toyota. The only reason I’m parting with this car is I need a bigger vehicle and was ready for something newer. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase one of these vehicles again.

What More Could You Possibly Want?

What a great car! I was going to replace my Accent with another Accent, but after seeing and driving the Elantra hatchback, I was hooked. I got out the door for only $13k, and that included a moonroof and CD player. Considering it was only $2200 more than a sparsely equipped Accent GT, it was an incredible bargain. Handles great, extremely comfortable, engine is smooth and powerful, transmission is silky. It's too early to tell about reliability, but if it's like my '01 Accent, it will be a gem. My first tankful of gas gave me 35 mpg (mostly highway driving). Stylish car!
